You know well if he made dungeons harder they'd all be whinging, because I had a look at their lodestones and gear and well.... Crafted weapons? I don't even think they did an extreme, let alone savage. And they're talking about healers only being needed in Ultimate

​@@fionamb83crafted weapons is especially funny because you can get the best weapons right now in the game without doing any harder content. You only need to do the quest line and collect enough of the stones you get from doing roulette.

@@fionamb83 you're missing a large point of the discussion. the point being that no matter how much people talk about Savage and Ultimate content, it's only a minority of the player base that does that content, We can argue about the exact percent (25 or so), however everyone runs dungeons, there's field content, Extremes, etc- a lot of healers aren't having fun in that content, the healer design really suffers in that content. Other jobs don't suffer at all to the same degree.

yuuuuuuup! I get to: 1. play the most braindead DPS rotation in the game (for when i don't want to stress about it) 2. ignore, for the most part, my primary responsibility in the group 3. Queues on swiftcast 24/7 Thanks healer strike!

People don't seem to realize that you also don't technically need a Tank if you have a Healer. DPS can survive tankbusters and small groups of mobs with healer support. You also don't need DPS if you don't mind everything taking 3 times as long. Better yet, the people getting upset about this don't technically need anything since they can just stop playing the game and let the already instant healer queues become even more instant.

As a WHM main, the amount of times I've had a tank leave for DC for one reason or another, and the way I was like "let's just go we're fine" and clear the dungeon...................just lol

The real issue is that your healer and DPS group had to slow down a bit but the tank and DPS groups only speed up. Things die faster because of more DPS so less healing would even be needed in the first place on top of the wild stance they took to give tanks such sustainability and can even adapt that to be party wide (Remember, Shake it off was once just an Esuna you could use to “shake it off”). Game direction is telling you healers are the weak link and it pisses people off.

@@Andrenden 1. Only an issue with dungeons anyway, and who really cares about casual content. 2. The absence of a tank would barely make a timing difference because it would still be *3 DPS* in the imaginary scenario. 3. Tank+DPS group requires everyone to perform perfectly with no mistakes because a mistake likely leads to death and a dead dps does no dps. A healer+dps group just requires a good healer 4. Honestly none of my points really matter because again. Casual content. People who care so much need to calm down. People have been telling me my class is "dead" for 8 years. Y'all just play the f*ing game on whatever class is most fun to you. It's not that deep.

@@portiabartel most of the playerbase is casual. How did you already become an idiot from step 1? FF14 literally needs the casuals. If healers stop queuing in duty finder then casual experience is the one that suffers. The casuals aren’t using party finder. If casuals play experience starts to suffer that’s when changes get made, it’s a big part of the reason game direction trended this way in the first place. It wasn’t for the hardcore raiders, it was for the casuals. That said, they’ve obviously gone too far and the casuals are still just maining DPS classes anyway. Even in harder content, healers are always the shortage. During the Endwalker series healers are the ones who were dropping out because they decided the healing was too much. This isn’t some secret either, this is known. When casual play experience is impacted enough that’s when the game will change. Because it’s either that or the casuals stop subbing to the experience that is terrible for them and SquareEnix doesn’t want that.

Problem with the healer class as a whole is that they're a guarantee. Nothing more. A guarantee that has the took to help the party out when the statu quo is broken, AKA when shit hits the fan. That has two effects : For the healer player, it means that the job is fucking boring when everything goes well, because your job is to salvage shit when things don't go well. For the other players, it means that it's fucking infuriating when shit hits the fan and the player who's job is entirely dedicated to help you in this situation is eating crayons and can't help you out.

Its really hard to balance around the fact that healers swing between really really easy if your teammates are good and ass-clenchingly difficult if they aren't. You can run a dungeon with no healer and then turn around and have to drag a group kicking and screaming to the finish line the very next instance, depending on how your luck goes.

I don’t wanna speak negatively about anyones skill here. But, I don’t even main healers I main tank and I can’t think of a single dungeon scenario where I have found it challenging to heal even with a party of complete zombies... If you want to say that healing can be stressful in savage content, sure I think it can be. Dungeons are basically an auto-win scenario in FFXIV and the game shouldn’t be balanced around them.

@@Oneofthecoments Nobody is actually being challenged by dungeons, except the most casual of casuals. But even there a tank who doesn't mitigate and refuses to move out of AoEs will involve significantly more from the healer than one who is playing well. In terms of casual content, instances like Dun Scaith and Paradigm's Breach can end up being squarely carried on the healer's shoulders if the rest of the group eats enough paste. Groups wipe on Diabolos sometimes. Even in extreme and savage content the difficulty of healing can swing wildly depending on how good the rest of the group is about using their personals and group mitigation. Harrowing Hells in week 1 gear...

@@Xaytan I mean yeah but savage content can swing for everyone, that’s part of it. I believe the comment said something like “difficulty of healing dungeons can swing” implying dungeons were challenging as a healer. I just disagree personally is all. 😃

I play healer very frequently during dungeons, and sometimes I end up with a warrior who doesn't know you can do this, and when they almost die I think to myself "What the hell, now I have to do my job"

A healer should be pushing their mp on heals. Arguably if they buff potency of DPS jobs and leave healers untouched, increase damage output from bosses and mobs. And make healing a bit snappier it's be nice.

I love when a tank dies in a dungeon and asks what happened? I'm like don't you have an I can't die button? They always get mad. Ppl seem to forget jobs have useful buttons outside of damage buttons.

not only can you do dungeons without a healer, you can also do it without a tank... i literally have a video on my channel of a no tank expert roulette from stormblood, its not something new... dungeons aren't meant to be hard, they are story progression pieces

When it was the top game dungeon, I ran Lapis Manalis with a PF I made to test something out. We ran 4 tanks, then 4 healers, then 4 DPS. All clears. The hardest was the 4 DPS since agro management was a pita and the RDM basically had to be a healer, but it still worked. Without RDM you could maybe still do it, but would have to do single pulls unless you abjectly overgeared the content and had 99 parse Ultimate raiders as your 4 DPSers.

I did a 4 man BLM run of expert roulette back in Stormblood. Still surprised we managed to finish the dungeon lol. Lots of deaths and over an hour, but we did it.

I manage to do expert roulette with 4 healers. We easily cleared out W2W, putting us probably 2nd place compare to BLU W2W. Our boss kill time is pretty low though.

Probably won't even notice the "healer strike". It might seem like everyone is talking about it on youtube or the forums or twitter or whatever, but probably 90% of the playerbase doesn't even engage with any social content outside of the game other than looking up specific info and guides, and they'll never know about it.

There's a guy on youtube who has cleared ALL of ARR and HW and the first dungeon of Stormblood so far with NO PARTY, NO TRUSTS, NO NPC PURCHASE, NO MARKETBOARD, NO RETAINERS, and he has done the vast majority of them level synced, and when he can't sync it, he disables echo whenever possible. Healers are optional.

I feel that this ties in to what youve said before about the lack of midcore content. With Alliance Raids being toned down, Normal Raids being basically the same difficulty as MSQ trials, and hilariously loose level sync at capstone level content, there is no place for midcore players at the moment. Savage and Ultimate healers may be okay with how things are, the quadripalegic colorblind 85 year olds who seem to pop up with alarming regularity on the forums can spam their one button while PLD and WAR heal the parties for them, but midcore players have...Glare spam. I agree that Stormblood was the best content in terms of overall difficulty. 4.0 Shinryu remains the peak of MSQ difficulty for me, and while people whined, it was never nerfed, and people got better. We need fail conditions in casual content again. Soft enrages like old Sohr Kai and Shinryu. Give crits back to adds in dungeons. Amaurot had enemies that had more complex abilities than mindless autoattacks, why did those never come back? Stuff like Tower of Zot should be the *standard* for high-level MSQ content, not an outlier.

@@holowisewolf1688 Random crits could be fun, until you get the unlucky moment where every mob auto is a crit and your tank instantly dies. I do think that dungeon mobs should do more damage though, healers should have a reason to press more of their buttons on a pull, and there really isnt unless the tank or dps' are bad.

Hey just wanted to say that Shinryu WAS nerfed I explicitly remember people whining it was too hard. But I do miss that level of difficulty for final bosses.

I'd say healer is the most interesting role to play when no one knows what they are doing but as soon as you're not running with sprouts it gets dull pretty quickly. I also can't see what the controversy is about. Give me a RDM in the group and I can do any dungeon (more or less) without a tank as well. It's not that healers are bad it's just that dungeons are easy if you know what to do.

​@@Taylor_Lindise lots of people that do casual stuff but have to play trials or raids for the glamours. We missed a big grind from ew as a lot of people also complained about grinds locking out the relics. Lots of changes to the system that I consider good, but somehow still had people calling the jobs hard and resulted in the streamline of a lot of jobs. I agree on sb being the middle ground of complexity and difficulty for both healers and raids.

You don't queue in Dawntrail because you're on a strike, I won't queue because I haven't even reached the expansion yet. We are not the same.

sch/sge main here this wasn't new, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back for some. I enjoy warrior for the heals and it's my fav dungeon tank for that reason, but at the same time, playing healer in casual content is boring af: your rotation doesn't exist, your heals are often not needed, etc. Meanwhile, lots of healers go into savage and suddenly find they don't understand how their job works coz u didn't need to learn it beforehand. Looking back at hw: u had cleric stance, 4 dots, 2 pets with different abilities (and they could die),...now u have 1 dot, 1 main cast, 1 invulerable pet,... Healing only gets fun in savage/ult coz only then u actually use your full kit but at the very least, I think jobs should be fun to play in more than just a very small part of the game, and it's been going down every expansion (and before anyone brings this argument up: I cleared all ults on sch and I'll probably end up maining a heal next expansion as well)

Doing P10S early-ish in the tier was annoying because half the groups would just wall if there were bonds 3 memes instead of doing healer LB because "HH isn't possible without tank LB" since healers refuse to use GCDs not on Glare or whatever. My first clear of P10S was on AST where we didn't have tank LB and it wasn't even THAT close for HH since people hit mit and I just spammed GCD healers and had Macro to top people before the bonds resolved after the last knock.

This sentiment has existed in people's hearts and minds for a long time. The video is just highlighting how unchallenging the easier content of this game has become. And I don't get people saying, "Oh, but it's been happening for a long time, why are people complaining now?" Well, everyone has their limits. Usually, a new expansion means new and exciting stuff to do, and when healers realize they're going to be spamming their one DPS button for another entire expansion, it's the last straw for some people. "Oh, but you should just do hardcore content then." No, the game NEEDS a middle ground. Right now, only the extreme options exist, and people in the middle (which is A LOT of people) are feeling more and more demotivated as time goes on. I will still main healer in Dawntrail, but I'm really happy that this subject is getting more attention because the number of times I've almost fallen asleep while doing my roulettes is the main reason I've been away from the game in the last couple of months.

Reminder that YoshiP's answer to people asking for a challenge on healer was to tell them to do Ultimates, then TOP was cleared without healers. And no I don't care how good the group that cleared it was, that should be impossible. You're not clearing TOP without DPS or tanks any time soon, so why is it acceptable to clear without healers ON PATCH?

@@ember-evergarden I'd argue that by now normal content shouldn't be braindead anymore. Everyone in Dawntrail has either played hundreds of hours or paid money to not have to. We're in what would be considered the late or post-game of most any other videogame. The mandatory skill floor should be gradually increasing, not decreasing.

Retail WoW is on the same level.. you need no healer anymore in endgame normal, heroic or even lowkey M+ dungeon.. their are even some maniacs that clear +15 and higher (yeah that already high) Healer is just for rly high end but not casual stuff tbh

Cleric Stance is the single most rose tinted goggles ability in all of MMO, and possibly all of gaming history. It is and was SUCH a terrible ability, and the game got good once they finally removed that garbage.

​@cosmicneko7225 healer role action (used to be WHM exclusive but you could cross-class it on AST and SCH) that swapped your Mind and Intelligence attributes while giving a boost to your damage skill and a further nerf to your healing spells. Essentially, you popped it on to deal damage when healing was low/unnecessary and turned into a mini-caster DPS. Equally, that meant that if you used it at the wrong time, you were shit out of luck since you couldn't heal for jack and people could die before you switched it off.

I just want healer to feel more engaging. Be it having more engaging DPS buttons, or more incoming damage so you actually want to heal. My biggest problem is that both sides are a bit boring for their own reason and I would really like either part to be improved in some matter. I usually main healer but I will be playing one of the 2 new jobs for DT's content, hoping to come back to an improved healing class later.

I think healers should have more cleansing skills that only healers can take care of. They can be color coded and attached to existing heals, and esuna could be the catch-all cleanser. But it kinda sucks that healers just don't have to worry about that rn

I don't think healers can ever be more engaging unless they make damage faster but lower while also adding more mechanics they need to cleanse etc. Otherwise how do you design fights for healer engagement? Heal an NPC? Make them do less damage but give them a damage rotation that heals at the same time?

Now they have a rotation to do on top of mechanics and also worrying about healing. sure it is thought provoking and engaging for those who would be able to do it, but then those that couldn't would complain and I feel like they would make WAY more noise then the ones who want this strike to happen.

Do your DPS rotation while using proper mits, maybe tank swap with your co-tank if necessary, position the boss properly for melee positionals and uptime (except for EW bosses KEKW), etc... Healers could do it if they really wanted to (and they did back in SB).

i've heard nothing about this in game lool, but you can do any dungeon in the game with any party composition. All tanks, all healers, all DPS, mix and match, it all works for story content. pathetic forum andys

For me, as a healer main, the role has been miserable for a while now. It comes down to casting 1 button and applying a dot every once a while, combine that with running expert roulettes with the same 2 dungeons that can be done with your eyes closed, it's just boring and I don't even get to use a fraction of my kit. I just want damage intake to be higher and couple of extra DPS spells. I WANT to sacrifice DPS for healing, I play healers because I like healing! Of course you will have downtime, which is where the extra DPS spells can atleast provide my brain with some stimulation other than glare spam.

The entire thing is blown out of proportion so much. 1) There is a complete disregard for the fact that dungeons are supposed to be the least difficult multiplayer content of the game, especially leveling dungeons. They are built with the idea of having 4 mouth breathers grouped together and still being able to clear in a somewhat acceptable fashion. From a dev perspective, the worst thing that can happen is to have dungeon partys frequently start arguing and disbanding, it would be a complete desaster and disgruntle a whole lot of players if that were to happen. There is literally no room for the complaints of raiders here, this is not your content. 2) Striking on dungeons is completely pointless because nobody will even take note. You don't hurt dps, tanks, or even the game's role economy with that move since anyone and everyone can always take the duty support route, if people don't feel like spending 30+ min in a queue to wait for a healer there is already a better option baked into the game right now. And since DT is an expansion that adds 2 dps jobs that was already going to be the better choice for dungeons anyway. 3) If you really wanted to commit to a somewhat relevant strike, strike on savage release, strike on ultimate release. Tear the world first races to shreds if you must, delay them for weeks and months, that would send out a message. But you won't do that, no, even if you're not part of the race you're still part of the machine. That is after all where your fun lies as a healer, right? There is no way you'd strike on that. Well here's it: if you only strike on the things that don't matter then you can't hope to see results. If you want to see results then you must invest first, that is the core idea of a strike. And if you're not willing to make that sacrifice then there is no point to a strike in the first place.

As a WHM main, my problem isn't the fact that the DPS rotation is boring or we need a MCH worth of oGCD attacks to keep up. My main issue is that nothing really hurts in easier content, like dungeons or trials. It wouldn't kill the game to make a dungeon boss do a raidwide and we take 2/3th of our health in damage. Now that we get more healing skills and stronger skills for that matter, we rarely have to use our full kit. Most dungeons I can run with just medica 2 and an assize (which is mainly for damage honestly). My lilies I drop on myself during movement to procc a blood lily (which is still only a glare worth of damage but 'OMG I can move now..'). I would like to see more damage on raidwides and what not and maybe make it so that glare can get a procc for a different skill to make it lowkey more interesting. To put it in perspective, week 3 / 4 of a new raid tier should be the 'BiS damage', give more doom mechs / poison debuffs and make the healer actually heal again.

i was there with the start of EW and after running the new dungeons a handful of times, i wasn't that impressed anymore. I've always said it and I will say it again, savage content has ruined normal content for me.

If this happens then you will have way more people complaining that content that otherwise shouldn't be hard (since you know, it is required for progression throught the MSQ) is now impossible for them to clear and progress. I once FAILED a trial roulette. I got Golbez (or whatever his name is), I used my healer LB3 3 times. The fight isn't rocket science, but the group I was in still managed to fail and this was just me trying to pop in and get my tomes and get out. If you want more thought provoking gameplay for healers, then do extreme's, do savage or do ultimates, that is the content for those who want a more challenging time.

@@KillaManReaper2 i get what you're saying and i agree, but nowadays every 'sprout' thinks they can do savage because normal content is easy and 'i didn't even have to heal much' whilst they have been running with WAR mentors who have over 5k hours in this game. Try a run with WHM in stone vigil for example. You don't have lillies and have to rely on cure 2 and medica 1 That's a good difficult dungeon (assuming you're going wall 2 wall). Now do a random level 90 dungeon and try not to fall asleep. That's the point i'm trying to get across. But again, i hear what you're saying and i do understand.

Agree, if you add dps rotation, people in harder content will struggle(because many healers struggle even with 1 dps rotation). The problem lies in easier content (mostly dungeons). I think making packs hit harder will make it more engaging. Casual players can single pull, but if you are confident then you can w2w. When it comes to bossfights then the last boss from Heroes' Gauntlet is the perfect example of casual hard.

This is the issue i've had with healing since Stormblood. I'm just pressing my 1 dps button all dungeon and 1 AOE heal every 30 seconds. It's not interesting. I main PLD but even on PLD it's just the same 123 123 123 123 rotation. Nothing really to swap in or mess around with to find other ways of handling situations.

I've also completed dungeons without a tank as healer, we just gotta pace ourselves and quite often where finishing the dungeon before a replacement tank has a chance to replace the one who DCed.

TBF I've cleared pretorium on warrior, with no healer. I don't even play warrior... I've also cleared the lunar subterainne, tanking on sage, with a party of all healers. I main whitemage. I'm not striking because why would I not play the job that I like, just because I'm not always needed?

I don't think turning healer into a DPS will do much. Healers have too many oGCD heals and it ends up being very passive because half your kit is unnecessary. Even back in ShB the only dungeons that made me feel anything as a healer were the switch and mt gulg.

@@DrAlberts Its not even turning them into a dps. Its a small break in the monotony. We're doing dps anyways. It doesn't have to be anything huge. Something like the last step of the combo is a higher potency attack, or a small 200 potency heal/bubble to the person with most agro. A small way to encourage and teach new players that dpsing as healers is a good thing.

All modern political movements are dumb, baseless, and biased, but to think that you would see a that in a game like XIV. /smh The reason why XIV is successful is not listening to the loud American minority who rant on forums. If someone doesn't want to play healer anymore? Good for them, its a game you can change jobs on the same character. Everyone knows Healer is the designated job for that person you forced into playing the game with you that probably sucks at the game and stays because they feel important. Making Healer less braindead means XIV loses a chunk of players, mostly females too. (The same group that is striking. Oh by the Twelve.) And like others have put it, a strike only works if said group is necessary. Also, the majority of Healer mains don't care because aforementioned reason. Yoshida will only care if Healer mains drop significantly to the point it actually affects queue because he runs a business, not a mom and pop shop built on feelings. His biggest fear is shareholders and JP players who can affect them, so catering to American minority is a high risk move. On another note, I never played Healer in SB because playing SCH in HW Savage content was grueling. Not to mention accuracy was a thing back then. DPS was shit but DPS checks were so tight it was crucial. Not to mention there was little to no spare oGCDs and fairy was manual or gimp mode. There was absolutely no room for error. Not to mention Healers get gear last so it never got easy. I hated that it felt like everything lied on my shoulders but I also get no reward. Officially released numbers at the time for A4 clear, after a month of its release, was 0. A3 was 292. Compared that to the 200,000 players who cleared normal A3, A4, each. Different game but on increasing healer difficulty to back then: "You think you do, but you don't".

Unpopular opinion- ya'll are lazy healers. I mained healer for most of my playtime in ff14 (since the World of Darkness patch in ARR). I've done savage in every expansion as healer. I have recently changed it up to dps. This is what I see in casual content: Healers not paying attention to basic shit such as raid wides. I have slowly died to unavoidable raid wides popping every self healing cd I can and not eating any avoidable damage. They don't do anything until you die. Tanks dying in dungeons for no reason other than healer spamming dps and not paying attention. Your job is to PREVENT DEATH. Ya'll's healing strategy is to wait for the person to die and then res. How many of ya'll healed on an expansion release? When people aren't geared up or know what they're doing? When you queue up solo you get people who are CASUAL players! They aren't geared up. They aren't avoiding every aoe or doing every mechanic. They are flailing and confused, understandably, but constantly eating damage that would otherwise be avoidable. But maybe ya'll don't notice...cause you aren't paying attention. And you don't have to anymore either. The game doesn't punish you enough in casual content when people die. I'm pretty sure the dungeon/alliance raid/etc would go by faster if nobody died over your stupid healer dps and the actual dpsers were alive to deal damage. But everyone thinks that they need to dps and that's what's important. Then when people die cause you're zoning out pressing your dps buttons nothing bad happens anyway. In a lot of dungeons if someone dies you can still finish the dungeon or finish the boss/trash pull. In harder content you can't afford for people to die. So why should you pay attention enough to heal if there's no consequence for the death? That's why The Vault got nerfed. That's why Orbonne got nerfed. That's why The Burn got nerfed. You REALLY needed to be paying attention or EVERYONE WAS DEAD. Queue, "Back in my day..." Back in the day of dungeon running if the tank died that was it, gg, everyone instantly was killed by the boss or mob pack unless the healer was incredibly experienced. Most healers would panic and then everyone died with a walk of shame that would follow or people straight up leaving. Back in the day ressing meant you had no mp at all anymore so even a dps dying was punishing. Eventually you would run out of mp and then everyone would die cause you couldn't keep them alive anymore. You couldn't even AFFORD to use your dps abilities because you didn't have the mana anymore. Over time they have made it less punishing in casual content to the point you can sit there and spam your dps buttons until people die, you res them, and still have enough mp to keep going without skipping a beat...So yeah, why should you care? You are putting in the bare minimum and that's what you asked for. In my personal opinion and observation casual players were pressured to play like the raiders did. It was an acquired skill that had to be learned in order to dps and heal at the same time. And when the casuals couldn't do it, well, that means it's too hard!! And people dying cause I wasn't paying attention and forgot to turn off my cleric stance, that means healing is too hard!! It's not cause I'm bad!! Yes, dps from the healers is NECESSARY in savages and such. You will not make the dps checks, especially when progging and no new gear yet. But raiders will literally do ANYTHING to squeeze out more dps. Even if it means meleeing as a fucking summoner. YES THAT WAS A THING and if I recall they had to nerf it because, huh... Summoner was never built with the intention of being played as a melee. Healers aren't picked for what heals the best, but for what provides the most damage to the raid. Because that's what's efficient for content harder than casual. That's what people who are concerned with the most optimal meta comps care about. But it was NEVER NECESSARY for a healer to dps in CASUAL content. It in fact, still isn't necessary. Because that's not its primary function. But casual healers were told they were straight up BAD and even GRIEFING if they didn't dps in casual content because that made the dungeon go slower for no reason and was a waste of their time- how dare they! Maybe ya'll weren't there or don't remember, but there was a time where it was huge debate whether healers should be expected to dps or not. Some were playing healer because they just wanted to heal and didn't feel like it was their job to dps. Some healers liked doing both. Some thought if you couldn't do both you just shouldn't heal at all cause that means you're just bad at your job. Everyone forgetting, especially the casual audience, that at the time it was only necessary and expected for raiders to do this, NOT the casuals. But as we all know, casual players always try to do what's "optimal" and "meta" even when it doesn't matter for the content they're doing and they can't even pull it off properly because they aren't skilled enough. When a lot of casuals attempted this gameplay they couldn't do both and people would die, which would then result in wipes because there were actually pretty severe consequences back then for people dying in casual content. Healers would get reported and/or kicked for being "bad". But, here we are! Now in casual content there is no stance dancing, healer dps is easy, and they can dps to their heart's content! They don't have to get yelled at for not dpsing or feel bad for dpsing and people dying and then causing a wipe! Everyone wins? Sorry for the long post and brief ff14 history there, but I felt that it was incredibly relevant and no one EVER talks about it. Maybe this isn't THE reason for all the changes they've made to healers over the years, but I know for a fact that it definitely had an influence on a lot of the dps changes to healers. Healers are being balanced based off of how much damage they provide so they're all relevant instead of who has the best healing tools. And now that the casual content is so easy that healers are bored, all you can do now is stand there and press your one button...Fun. This is what ya'll asked for.

The hilarious thing is that tanks are even less relevant than healers. I've literally cleared dungeons with my friend tanking as Reaper, while my other friend switched his tank stance off, and it's not even a challenge. DPS are the least relevant of all, because literally all content without an enrage timer (and most content WITH one) can be cleared with just tanks and healers. As for healers being "too easy", sure, their "damage rotation" is, because the rest of their responsiblities are bull shit. As someone that's cleared every Savage tier, I'd much rather "master" a 25 second opener and then do nothing for 2 minutes, than have to heal through shit like Harrowing Hell. But sure, add a damage rotation to healers, then add a tank stance too, I suppose, while they're already the only role that has to actually watch their mana, conserve their CDs and react to what's happening, instead of "herpa-derp press oGCD when available". These guys are on crack. xD

HH was easy and got easier depending on comp, what was hard was expecting the rest of the party to stagger personal mits which p5s-p8s showed they couldn't do which is why that was the last time se saw a healer shortage for pf (aka the sea of green)

As someone whos played WoW since 2004 and FF14 since 1.0. The kind of feedback these players give, will ruin the game just like people did with WoW. Healer strike is the dumbest thing, funny. but not the kind of people you want giving feedback.

You Know.. as a healer main I have got to say that a "Good" Healer should contribute a good deal to DPS and I have no problem healing for a tank that can pretty much take care of business with an occasional support.

When everyone is reasonably competent, you can do allmost all content except savage prog and ultimates with 100% dps uptime as a healer.

I tanked Reaper without a Tank. I mean I had a healer but it’s the same situation. You can tank a dungeon as a DPS with healer and. No actual tank. Just as a tank can run all DPS with no healer. I do not understand why he’s getting crap for this when it’s literally not hard to Tank as a DPS or All DPS a dungeon or ever 1 Tank 3 DPS a dungeon. We been doing this since fucking HW so for all the people who wanna bitch about something WE BEEN DOING FOR YEARS they either need to get better or unistall. Simple. Also love you xeems

@@Taylor_Lindise the problem is, there's no focus. I've seen people say they want healing abilities removed from other jobs (not gonna happen), I've seen some say they just want more dmg abilities (possible), and some say content shouldn't be clearable without healers (it always was).

Can we just be really fair though for a second and admit that Warrior is a travesty in tank design? If all other tanks had equal levels of power I wouldn't even bat an eye, but Warrior is so obviously out of control it isn't even funny anymore. WAR with an understanding of how their rotation works can straight up trivialize the entirety of Eureka where every other class struggles or otherwise slows down because of the grind. WAR also can do this in normal dungeons, where they chain their Raw Intuition / Bloodwhetting with some mitigations into Holmgang and straight into another Raw Intuition / Bloodwhetting. Raw Intuition is a massive issue at the cooldown it currently, simply as. Abyssal Drain, the only comparable ability to this on DRK, has a 60 fucking second cooldown and procs off of only Abyssal Drain, whereas Raw Intuition / Bloodwhetting lasts a ludicrious 8 seconds in which you are essentially immortal, being a second invulnerability for WAR on top of their Holmgang. If DRK, PLD and GNB had clear advantages in their respective fields I wouldn't mind, but WAR is so straight up broken and privileged compared to all other tanks that I sorta just empathize with healers who are annoyed with it. I've mained healer since I started and have always felt there was an insane disconnect between WAR and the other tanks. You just become obsolete as a player, virtually a worse DPS with some AoEs for boss fights. While it doesn't specifically annoy me since I like to lay back and let WAR have their little power fantasy, I think it'd be disingenuous to say it's balanced.

I don't really care much about all other self-healing abilities, even Bloodbath for DPS is absolutely balanced compared to Bloodwhetting's "Press one AoE and watch 20 10k+ healings pop off" gimmick. Make it an ability that pops once per 60 seconds or something, like DRK's.

This was possible as far back as HW with all summoner raids in BCOB (back when they could heal and Titan Egi was a decent tank). That was a pretty novel concept! However that was then and this is now. Don't need a healer? Then we're not playing it. Enjoy your 1 hour long dps queue.

my problem w/ ff14 is that the combat feels more like a synchronized dance that you just have to memorize rather than actual (exciting) combat. I spent alot of time playing Lost Ark because I love the combat so much, but I think ff14 players really take for granted just how valuable it is that yoship and the square enix devs for this game AVOID being greedy and abusing their playerbase. they ACTIVELY try to make the game better, they'll move release dates around so ppl can play other games, they genuinely love the game and the players. That is so rare nowadays. that is not to say that things can't get better. I'd love to see the combat system NOT be tab-targetted gcd combat, but that would be such a fundamental overhaul of the entire game that I doubt they'll do it. they can rework classes to be smoother and more fun, but yeah. ff14 has is INCREDIBLE and people don't realize that so much.

"You can already do this" Coming from someone who plays with a group of people who at first didn't believe me, and then didn't believe me when I told them just how incredibly easy it is to run no-healer in ShB/EW dungeons, I think there was a lot of people that either didn't know about this or just denied it. It makes sense that, now that you've basically put it in the limelight as to how ridiculously easy it is to just get rid of healers, a lot of healer players are frustrated. Also fwiw it's piss easy to do this with PLD too. Even doable with DRK, GNB is the only one that sometimes can be a bit annoying. Worst case scenario though is that you just don't w2w it.

To be fair warriors can basically pull wall to wall without a healer and be fine while other tanks don't need a healer if they pull smaller, idk about dark Knight because holy shit they need some other way to heal that isnt AD on big pulls, please just give Blackest night a small heal when in breaks

​@@lardexsupreme3542 You can use Living Dead in at least 2 pulls at a standard (fast) pace, so that's two pulls where you'll just go from 0 to 100 by yourself with no healer. Sure, some pulls can get dicey, but if you're running triple DPS you should be nuking pulls fast enough to not die in the first place. Worst case scenario, get a DNC (Curing Waltz) or a SMN (Phoenix) so they can heal you while also doing their DPS rotation.

No. Those people have been complaining about this for 3-5 years. And it's the same people. They are using Xeno's run as an excuse. They did the same thing with the zero healer TOP clear. The funniest thing about this is that your casual players will always need healers and the worst players will need more than healers can even give. The only people that can clear regular content with no healers are those that are good at the game, with the best players being able to clear Savage and Ultimates with no healers after they've memorized the fight. Which means everybody needs what healers currently offer lol. The ONLY thing I'd argue for is less tank sustain. There's no reason WAR should be able to do what it can. The only self healing WAR should have is Thrill of Battle. No tanks should have party-wide heals. DRK can get bloodwhetting, make it vampire-themed. PLD shouldn't heal on spellcast, and I dunno about GNB; despite being a tank main I have never unlocked it.

GNB has heart of corrundum on almost 50+% uptime, aurora, and depending on what type of damage is going out they have heart of light too. Tank sustain is the main issue, not necessarily the status quo of dreadfully boring healing gameplay.

Let's be honest, this whole "strike" is peak basement dweller-twitter rant nonsense. It won't do anything because the only people that actually do it and aren't just blowing smoke are less than a fraction of a fraction of the playerbase. Regardless of when it happens it won't have an impact either - do it now before the expansion and you're not going to impact as many people because of how many are taking a break before the new content drops while others are still working through older content because of breaks they already took or are new to the game and are "catching up". Do it at launch of Dawntrail and it'll also have no impact because of all the people that come back that don't care about the drama that pops up in the forums or on social media from people that often complain and yet never actually do the roles in question half the time and just want to join a mob because they're bored/lonely. In conclusion, when you say "recent example" you should maybe consider ACTUAL recent content not a dungeon from the end of post-Stormblood content that was released 5ish years ago. How is anyone supposed to take an example seriously when it's not remotely useful as a comparison tool? EDIT: To add, cleric stance is only "good" if you're either a very practiced healer or an endgame raider. For the majority of the playerbase needing to ping back and forth between damage and healing modes while babysitting people that don't pay attention, are learning a fight, or just want to be a nuisance would be an absolute nightmare of a headache. I guarantee if we actually brought the stance dancing back the outcry about an actual lack of healers because so many stop doing it out of frustration would be insane.

15:00 there is a happy medium here. The community will never be able to accurately target it and give feedback about it because it's really hard to pinpoint per-person, but there is a genuine happy medium where the game is compelling and has a lot to it but is not actively destroying the game with it's difficulty. I think we are fairly close to that medium, but have overstepped in some ways slightly. Basically, exactly what the devs said. It's why I was so happy to hear their comments on it, it feels like they know to not overreact back to gordias but also know that continuing to make the game easier from here would be a problem too.

There may be, but we're more or less there right now. They're going to try to add new and different mechanics to trip up the people that are used to 10 years of the same stuff so they recognize it by rote now (left attack, right attack, light party stacks, spread, full party stack, Limit Cut), which might change things up some. Some more unorthodox stuff like having to turn into Gorillas and such (that parsers hate, but who gives a duck?), and so on in harder content. Them leaving MSQ the same is really fine. And I say this as a healer main in every game I play, and in this one my entire time from 2.3 when I started to now. I do have SMN and RDM and I do have PLD and WAR so I can do other things if the party needs, but healer is my jam and always will be. I do think they could do something like turn SGE into SB SCH for the people that REALLY want that, but leave everyone else out of it.

I find the idea that having a lot of OGCD heals makes healing braindead, a little weird. Sorry, but is hard casting cure more often actually more engaging than weaving your heals between GCDs? It certainly isn't more APM, and idk, doesn't really seem harder either. For Sage, the whole point of the kit is that you're supposed to manage those other resources so that you can get full use out of Kardia along with your DPS. "How much can I afford to not heal" is just how healers optimize in this game, and I'm okay with that.

That's kinda the issue, yeah. If your tank starts doing the "Idgaf watch me play WoL" thing and simply tanks 20 waves of enemies with Bloodwhetting without really needing your assistance at all, you feel like you're worthless on the team. One person can effectively just make you feel useless on the team, which completely ruins the idea that no matter what kind of a WoL you are, you are helpful to the story and to the completion of dungeons. I'm entering Tower of Zot with the Scions watch the tank in front of me be more of a WoL than I am. I'm literally just a fuckin NPC from a random Fate that deals 0,3% damage at that point.

You are mistaken on one point; it's not because of the video of a dungeon being cleared with 1 War and 3 DPS. Although this annoys some players, it has existed since Shadowbringers. The issue is that the developers have simply ignored every thread. (and Yoshi-p said if you want more engaging content go play in ultimate). There has been one major thread for each expansion since Stormblood, and it became really apparent starting with Shadowbringers. Some healer players want less homogenization and a more engaging rotation-why should they be ignored? As for the dungeons, if the mobs do zero damage and the bosses also do zero damage, making healers unengaging, it is entirely the developers' fault for making the MSQ content totally brainless and unengaging. So yes, if a Tank is capable of providing group regen, a powerful shield, and being self-sufficient, it's normal that it bothers some players in casual content. Although it's not a major balance issue because it doesn't exist in savage/ultimate content. A game based on the Tank/DPS/Heal Trinity, no matter how easy the content is, should be engaging for every role. Even if it's not specifically the Warrior that's the problem in this case, but rather a global balancing issue that doesn't make all roles engaging in casual content and with a total lack of difficulty in that same content, no one can deny that the dungeons are mechanically bland and just visuals. The game will never be difficult even in casual content-that's pure copium thinking that. Then people will complain that it's too hard, and some dungeons will get nerfed, like The Burn in Stormblood, which was a completely unnecessary nerf. The challenge is not to make the dungeons difficult but to make them more engaging for all roles, and also to make the trash mobs more than just moving trash bins.

I spent time in the Healer Strike Discord (yes there's a Discord for them) and apparently it came down to, they want stuff to be in the good old days when stuff crit or Healer Stance. Stuff the community said that they didn't want anymore, but now they want back for some reason. Their overall sentiment felt like the video made by Lynx a few months ago

Sprout WHM main here. I'm an introvert suffering from "Heal-xiety". Despite my mental and social obstacles, nothing makes me FEEL MORE ALIVE than playing Healer! This Healer Strike thingy seems so crazy to me hehe. I started FFXIV a month after Endwalker dropped, after SquareEnix released the lockout for brand new players. I went through ARR dungeons traditionally (queuing up with real players), but I completed HW and StB dungeons exclusively with the Duty Support NPCs. I will most likely complete SB, EW, and DT dungeons with Duty Support/Trusts as well. As for MSQ Trials, Alliance Raids, and anything else in Roulettes that forces you to play with real people, my fight or flight response goes into overdrive! Even after doing the Crystal Tower Alliance Raids many times, I still have my panic attack moments haha. I'm sorta jealous of all the other Healer mains that are bored/unsatisfied playing Healer jobs in FFXIV. I'm still finding it challenging, engaging, and most of all - FUN! Maybe one day I'll be "good enough" at playing a WHM to be bored in FFXIV too? Hopefully not! I'm looking forward to learning how to heal in Extreme/Savage/Ultimate content in the distant future.

So how do I, the midcore player who wants healing to not be mind-numbingly boring, not get the flak when these strange changes are made? And let's be real for a bit, this is partly on the devs not pushing back against silly ideas or complaints, too. And they've been moving every job towards homogenization, simplifying everything way too much. At this point I would love more frequent damage buttons to press, or combo actions. Not more Glare spam and "every 2-3 minutes you can press a dps button, while you wait for that you don't need to heal much". Like, it just isn't very fun and engaging and I just want it to be.

I love some gameplay freedom, and I really hope we'll see some more variety to how content can be cleared. Dungeon difficulty is not really something the devs focus on anyway

The backlash against the healer complaints is kinda silly because I would imagine everyone agrees that spamming 1 button for 80% of your gcds, even in savage, is really freaking boring right? This has been the primary complaint since ShB. The incoming damage isn't there to not just use gcds for DPS most of the time and they're afraid to increase it because it scares people and using DPS gcds in the form of one button is completely mind-numbing. WHM is the only healer that ever should have been like that if anything, no idea why they turned every healer into that.

I don't see how this is a "healers are neglected" issue, if anything it's a "Warriors are fucking insane" issue lmao Though I'd say it's a dungeon design issue. Damage in dungeons on anything other than the tank, is almost always because of a mistake, so if dps and healers are playing well, there just isn't much to heal. I feel like there needs to be more punishing unavoidable damage to give healers something to do other than spam their one damage button

For every warrior that can solo heal the dungeons there are 10 that don't even use cds same thing goes for healers and dpses. The only time healing is boring is when things goes right but that happens when the content is obsolete or u are in a static, if u play pf u are playing praying ur group doesn't suck too much. The content is the thing that become boring over time not ur job and it happens for every game, some people tolerate it more some less.

Personally, don't know the issue... However, having read through the issues, and knowing what I know of MMOs and FFXIV? You kind of are PROVING their concerns? 'Doing this on warrior isn't a big deal' You realize the biggest argument against the strike is, "You are taking a video done by one of the BEST players out of context?" Like it is not a typical thing, that YOU are amazing at being a tank, etc... so, it isn't something typical... But, your reply is that Warriors do this already and that anyone and everyone can do it - so, you aren't the reason. The strike isn't because the NEW expansion is doing XYZ. It is that the game has been progressing in that direction, and DT is just MORE of it. So, your video HERE is purely proof of their issues and concerns - healers are not needed, all other types ARE needed. You are literally saying exactly what their concerns are, and why they are striking.

im a healer main and my stance is "idc" why do i not care that warriors are just so op and can sustain themselves without a healer? Cause for me it means more room for damage, i can finally spam my 1 rotation and put a regen from time to time and not stress at all. I hate having to stress "aah is the tank hp more than 70%? aah are the dps in good health? aah do i have a lot of mp left? aah do i have swiftcast ready just in case?" I can just let the war do what he do best. Taking damage and provide little to no effort, just doing my holy or Stone 6 and placing a regen. Plus baldman is a seasoned player, he did pretty hard duties that requires coordination and mastery of the job being played. You can't be mad at anyone because he know how to play warrior.

Healers are only fun in Savage/Ultimate. All other content is a boring 11111111111 snooze fest, unless you roll a tank who doesn't know what to do or a braindead DPS. The long windows of time, when you just spam ONE skill over and over and over again is just lazy design. I like how most vocal people about this aren't healers. We want OUR gameplay to be better, not YOURS to be worse.

AST main since 5.1 here! I like your videos and i usually don't comment on any videos but i'd like to clarify the meaning of this strike because alot of misinformations has been spreading around. I don't think your mediatour video specifically triggered healers. the healers being bored or not feeling needed in content issue has been around since I started playing. I never really felt this issue when I started, especially since AST is/was so different from other healers as well. but for having played the others, i started feeling the same too. especially in casual content. we are just being very loud right now because as we could see from the media tour build (which yes could change, but i don't think it's going to change drastically), healers are still gonna feel the same. especially since they're giving alot of heal and mitigation utilities for alot of job and the only different healer to me (AST) is going to get major changes, changes that are not inherently bad because i think utility cards are neat but they could be better than "your solo healing spells kit on cards.". this could be totally fine if the damage received in ALL content will be increased but we've been saying that for 2 expansions now and i don't think it will happen in DT. which is why to me the most reasonable change we could ask for is not nerf or take away the utilities from the other jobs but instead give the healers more DPS buttons to press and optimize. all we got was a 2m follow-up, which is nice. it's a good start. but they also gave this to every other jobs. i think 2-3 more buttons that we could optimize and is different across all 4 healers would be nice. we don't need a whole DPS rotation because it wouldn't be reasonable for high-end content like savages and ultimates. before someone asks, i cleared all of the savages and ultimates since i started as well as doing p10s w1 without tank LB3 ♡

Well, I am not playing rn, but last time I was, every time there was a WAR in my party I only had to use ocasional oGCDs and spam damage cuz these guys have it (healing) covered. Also, I don't understand why drama? It's just damn roulette, tanks/party would still need healing in Ex/Savage. I personally like the idea of tank being such a "Force of Nature".

This isn't Anything new even in the past few Years. When Rogue/Ninja came out, I and my FC ran from lv15 to 30 on all Rogues. That was back in ARR. People bitching and crying about Healer status in the game need to stop eating Glue. Or Eat more and leave the Ecosystem.

Solution is to give healers more complex DPS rotations, and support abilities that increase the group's damage output. In FF7, if I get good, I don't need heals. Aerith can still blow shit up though. Healers need better buttons to hit when not healing.

I've always preferred FFXI's combat. It's slower, but far more strategic. I don't like the fight design in XIV, it's a snore fest after you've memorized it. I don't personally find memorizing a script all that fun. Would much prefer there be some sort of compromise and they take what works for both games and combine them. I think having just a handful of mechanics, and the boss uses them somewhat randomly. Back when there was TP the boss could just have the same kind of thing and it's mechanics use a certain amount depending on which ability they use. You're still memorizing boss abilities, but each time you fight it, it will be slightly different. I prefer way more changes, but I think that alone would be enough to make the fights significantly better.

As someone who mains healer (during expansion launches) - yes. Please strike. Get me the QUICKEST queues for the story mode. But also it is kind of ridiculous that healers are so unnecessary. Bosses should do more damage off players' oGCD timers so there's a point to hard cast heals, or even cast them at all on some fights; and bloodwhetting should maybe be slightly nerfed, or have a healing/target cap. And yes I mostly stick to dungeons and extremes. Clearing a savage, while not particularly difficult, and ultimates, are usually extremely time consuming content that I cannot get too invested into, so the content I CAN more freely do is boring and dull. And yes, I know they can't make these changes to old fights or tweak the jobs around those level ranges, because in some cases old fights will no longer function or work, as they were designed to work around very specific parameters and cooldowns and blah blah blah. But, they can make these changes going forward into the 90's, 100's and beyond.

For the most part, ffxiv fights are not designed around assumptions of healer hardcasts (with some exceptions). They are designed around the skill cooldowns that the healers have. The problem is that to make something like that fully needed in dungeons, the dungeons should be able to do approximately half the damage of savage content ( so that one healer will have to get taxed). This is demanding too much from a community when it is quite likely for a bad tank to match with a bad-mediocre healer (or vice versa) and have a good chance to fail clearing the dungeon content. More people failing dungeons can dissuade the community from playing the game so it's always risky to make casual content harder. I have seen many healers instead ask for a dps rotation to avoid dealing with this problem. The problem I can see the devs be concerned about this approach is that a completely disconnected dps kit can be just as boring and now you end up with the same group complaining while also adding more buttons to the jobs (annoying substantially more people in the process). Therefore you want some kit to heal interaction that doesn't exactly force the player to heal at specific times (thus being quite unlike the current dps design). I think they have been moving to that direction (very) slowly. See for instance the changes to whitemage during the EW patches. I am not a healer main, I have healed savage and cleared TEA in ShB as brd, but I did get to listen to my healers discussing about the healer direction. Overall from my outsider's perspective, I do get to listen to many different voices on the direction each person would want of the jobs, often times appearing as conflicting with each other. There is a deep dissatisfaction in the community and I am not certain if most of the people are certain on what the specifics of the cause is (when viewed in the confines of trying to improve the game for everyone, and trying to solve the problem while not creating a bigger problem elsewhere). Edit: That said, I believe the devs are slightly missing the plot when they are trying to pretty much implement the complaints of the community without knowing well enough the reasoning behind them.

I feel like people are angry that Xeno did the No Healer dungeon run AT the Media Tour. Where the developers were present. I guess is as if the developer were seeing Xeno doing this run but turning a blind eye.

hey, thanks. faster queues for me. not sure why people are whining about not having to heal a tank. i come from wow m+ and as a healer, you're happy when you don't have to babysit the tank and only heal the dps/yourself when absolutely necessary. this is great, and honestly, every tank should just self-sustain, especially in worthless, non-challenging content like dungeons in ff14.

Playing as a healer should be fun in anything, not just ex savage and ultimate. I shouldn’t be falling asleep healing a normal dungeon or raid. I shouldn’t be pressing one single button 130+ times in any piece of content at all. It’s fucking boring. If I have to do some of the hardest stuff in the game to have fun as a healer then healers are badly designed and people have been complaining about this for five years now

I got a solution that will solve literally all of this. They have stated that MSQ content is supposed to be easy and casual right? Then redesign all MSQ dungeons to be based on pvp mechanics. Eliminate the need of tanks pulling and healers healing. Now everyone is “equally” balanced and dungeons are just another fun pvp style content but for pve. Everyone just knocks down every incoming mob and the whole need for a trio is effectively over. Now players who *want* to participate in harder content and dive deeper into their kit, they’ll find the time to practice on some dummies or just learn through progging harder content. Boom 👏 solved.

If the dev teams gives folks what they want by adding extreme/savage mechanics in casual content (e.i. counting to 4, knowing your colors, high raid damage), they're gonna whine and complain. It's lose-lose. I hope folks get walled next expansion by the first trial. I really do. 😂

I'm not joining the strike, but complaints about healer design being 1 button braindead turret is very valid. If they wanna keep us with current (DT) design give us cleric stance back so that we can have some actual risky min-max to play with for fun in easy content. On topic "If you wanna attack, play DPS" is super funny statement for someone whom in their post wrote he plays savage, I'm guessing he is not upholding that rule of his in the savage groups he's joining. Unless he joins savage 4 months post release and everyone sweats to carry his 2k dps butt to not enrage. Giving healers more giga powerful healing tools does not make them more fun to play. In fact during last savage tier prog we were sitting on our healing sheet with so many healing tools unspent that we just placed stuff like lilybell or macrocosmos in a random spot just to make healing sheet appear "filled", when in fact it was 60-70% OvH.

Ew. God no. Cleric Stance is the most rose tinted goggles ability in all of MMO hsitory, if not gaming history. It was always a garbage ability, made even more garbage by how tight MP management was at the time and how Lustrate ignored it in ARR and Eos ignored it in ARR and HW. Terrible ability and when they removed it, the game was far better. No. I have SMN for when I want to play a DPS Job, which is extremely rare. I find healing generally enjoyable in this game, and I mostly play MSQ, 24 mans, normal 8 mans, occasionally Extremes, and VERY rarely Savages as a fill for my FC if they need an extra body. If you want a damage rotation - since you latched onto "if you wanna attack" from a guy who stated out right that he was JP and using a translator program, meaning you shouldn't assume the translation is 100% accurate - then play a DPS Job. They have far more extensive DPS rotations (mostly) and they make up more than half the Jobs in the game and half the party slots.

@@SubduedRadical Every other MMO has healer with why more fluid 4-5 damage buttons they press regularly with a total of 8-10 damage buttons including 1-3 min damage cds. At the same times healing is also far better designed there and than it is in FFXIV (press 1, weave healing ogcd) WOW absolute fun isn't it? I like healing, but FFxiv healer design is bare bones and boring. If you compare playing as a Preservation Evoker or Restoration Shaman to any of FFXIV healers it almost seems that FFXIV healers aren't allowed to have fun... How is it hard to understand that healers should be allowed to have fun outside of prog, like the rest of the roles? People who hated cleric stance were either dogwater greedy healers or teammates of those dogwater healers. Ability itself was fine and was fun to squeeze out more damage as a healer when you got more comfortable with the fight.

The problem is... I dont want healers to be easy. I want atleast simple dps rotation like one for disc priests in wow. Healers in FFXIV are overloaded with healing spells. Even in ultimate, we dont need that much heals. Even savage bosses have a few mechanics those required you to heal the party. If someone missteps the usual mechanic on savage its neither a raise or wipe. The other 90% of your time you feel bored, couse you keep spaming broil and refreshing bio refresh. At least, they could make all healers alike sage in terms of damaging spells. Not inentical of course.

I'm a 20 year MMORPG Healer and let me tell you it's about how you choose to play the game. I enjoy Sage so much because as a healer I get to participate in the DPS and it's fun and refreshing instead of just constantly healing. You can do certain content without healers in many MMORPG games and that's okay and even funny :). Healers are still very much needed for the content that (to me) matters most, endgame content. While it is possible to do dungeons with no healer as a certain class, I promise you healers will always be needed for the content they were designed around. The focus while making healer cooldowns and abilities in general was not dungeons I promise you. Healers are designed around the hardest of content that requires a separate class to focus on keeping the team alive. Any other content is 2nd thought and healers are tweaked to be balanced in that content and in raids and such. This healer strike is ridiculous and I'd wager the majority of healers in it are those that are casual dungeon runners and trial explorers(nothing wrong with it, just their choice of how to play the game and find what they enjoy), not Ultima content or savage content healers. They laugh when they hear about this I'm sure. To each their own and have fun in the way that you please, but don't cause a complete healer overhaul just because one tank class has outstanding sustain abilities, if anything, take his sustain abilities down a notch and leave the healers be.

Let me emphasize as a Healer main: Healing is _fundamentally_ boring af. You only feel alive when something bad happens. That's how bad it is at midcore content. Hell even at hardcore you literally just playing a script with healmaps and all that. We only have one, _ONE_ button to spam over and over and over. We desperately want to use our kits but most of the time we don't have to. It's always been like that and now it felt like the thing got so stale that we just went screw it. Strike cope whatever, that's healing in FFXIV.
