"Very mechanical" that's what I needed to hear! I test rode an BMW R9T. It was a very capable machine but I walked away from the test ride and no sale. I love the looks and the modification opportunities but what struck me later was the boxer twin was just too smooth; simply not mechanical enough. My interest is now with the RE.

The RE Twins are a fantastic bikes, Take one for a test ride as what's my cup of tea may not be yours. RE twins respond well to modifications.

So you decided no bmw you wanted the cheaper and less polished bike …they are not as good as bmw and triumph and are definitely built at a price

@@Brettmotorcycles Can't disagree with you. The BMW was a very efficient, "polished" as you correctly put it, form of transport but it lacked character and that comes in good amounts by being obviously mechanical. I'm respectfully guessing you would be happy with an electric motorcycle.

@@andrewdawson5281 If they can do something with range ..yes . RE are decent bikes at that price but they are not bmw, Ducati , or triumph. They are slow and heavy. I like refinement I guess

They only cracked the ECU open about 2yrs ago max to tune factory ECU.Before that it was Piggyback on ECU & if get the PowerTronic from Revelry the rev limiter can be extended which Power Commander doesn't neither does a Remap & on this bike pay to extend rev limiter by 250rpm or so as you hit the rev limiter quick on stock tune, Power Commander or remap Rev limiter. If you drill the holes bigger on the YSS fork upgrade it'll handle alot better too. Great bike you have got.

I do have the Powertronic from Revelry Racing. I was looking into getting the quick shift kit but decided not too. When i do the 950cc build i will most likely use a stand alone ecu if the Powertronic or factory ecu doesn't cut it, Something like a link maybe. I'm happy with suspension at this stage as it works well as is.

In actuality the 90mm pistons yield 863cc with the stock R.E. 650 crankshaft. The slightly longer stroke of the Triumphs is 865cc. I have well over 20,000 kilometers on the smaller "750" kit which is 743cc and it is very satisfying compared to the stock 648cc. Doing the work myself, total cost was $1,100 U.S. including all parts and machine shop fees. I am installing a Rekluse clutch and new oil pump chain due to the amount of miles on mine (64,000 kms). Thanks for the videos and all of the information. Edit: YSS front fork kit, full stainless-steel exhaust system were on my 750INT well before the big bore conversion...

I did order the Rekluse clutch when i ordered my 865 parts, Will said it wasn't needed with my build. With the 950 build (in the near future) i will use the Rekluse clutch. I did the engine assembly myself to save on cost. Thanks for the comments.

@@ivananda865ccinterceptor happy to hear that Will said it wasn't needed even with the larger big bore kit; yours has another 120cc's over my "750INT", mine has an additional 95cc's over the stock 650. I figure another 12hp with the parts I installed; yours should be around 21hp over the stock 47, close to 70hp. My two 865cc Triumphs are 67hp Bonneville and 68hp Thruxton. Our R.E.'s are in the same state of tune, maybe more so.

I just finished my gt650 project, went yss fully adjustables front and rear, I drilled the damper rods so the emulators work properly in the front, s&s 865 kit and cam and the Barnett clutch, which does seem to slip when throttling on to over take especially in 5/6th, went with powertronic and legends at revelry sent me a map that went in and bike is running great, I also did the rstech belt conversion which gives it a little more legs on the highway have got to 190km before I started to run out of road 😅the sc project pipes sound awesome too. I haven’t really had any dramas with braking since I got rid of the original pads, but I love how it rides now, have you dyno tuned it? Would be cool to see how much of a difference the heads and throttle body make, they’re a bit out of my price range at the moment but maybe in a couple years!

@ivananda865ccinterceptor 26 дней назад
I had issue's with my clutch after my build it turned out one of the steel plate had wrapped. I didn't do the throttle body's as i wanted to keep the bike looking stock as i was meant to sit my license with it. (lol i was dreaming) I am picking up my 415cc Himalayan soon to get my license sorted.I plan to buy the 950cc crate motor of Reverly once i start needing more power. Its a lot of money to spend on a bike but its worth every cent as its the most "fun" motor vehicle i have owned or driven and i have owned some very high powered cars. You need to do that with a 350 classic dark, swap engine out to 650 and all the other mods it would be badass

It is looking nice, if you do get pulled over don't tell them it is a 865 as you can only be on a 660 max with learners and I think 47hp or a little more, so don't show rego plate on here and might pay to lose the Revelry tag on the heads. Love the channei, Much more fun working on bikes, most things are just smaller and lighter.

Thanks, If I get pulled over on this bike, I definitely will be saying it's a standard bike with aftermarket exhaust. I do have my GN250 to do my test with, and I really need to get on with that.

I'm curious as to how controllable the bike is after the kit. The bike is geared like a small sport bike so how does it handle after nearly doubling the torque? Thinking about upgrading mine but i'm not to keen on losing the relaxed ridability of it mostly stock.
@ivananda865ccinterceptor
@ivananda865ccinterceptor 2 месяца назад
My bike handles great, but I have upgraded tires and suspension. After I did the 865cc upgrade, I found the factory setup lacking. I do push the bike quite hard at times. If you're just want more power and don't push the bike on corners, I think the factory setup will be fine.

I'm made my own tool for the bottom socket, Any motor cycle shop should be able to pull it apart, There are great videos on RU-vid explaining how to do it.
