Funfact: You can actually tell if a painting or sculpture is a fake or the real thing. A fake artwork will not be accurate to the real-life art piece. For example, a fake of "The Birth Of Venus" would have the shell upside down whilst the real one would be the right side up.
I just did as everyone else and used a guide. I know what some of the fakes look like off the top of my head, but not all. So I double check with a guide😅

Im so glad ur playing new leaf on the channel!! I love new horizons and I never got to play new leaf, I gotta say new leaf’s graphics seems so charming and the dialogue feels a bit more natural(?)
also a side note: i learned about treasure islands through you and it made me wipe my old island to restart and i've fallen in love with the game again being able to skip the money & nook miles grinding & get the furniture i want right off rip. i started a pokémon theme island and could NOT find diana (intended to be my sylveon look-a-like) after days of villager hunting. then for part of my valentine's day gift my fiancé got me her amiibo card so i've got my final "pokémon villager" 🥹💕
I restarted my new leaf town for this and I'm obsessed with the game again! I've been grinding new horizons since it released and I forgot how much joy this game brougth me
You can look up real vs fake art for new leaf but you can’t look closer so it is still a bit difficult to tell. Like today I tried to donate what I thought was the only real painting that Redd had yesterday but it turns out it’s also fake. Oops. It’s hard to tell even knowing what to look for
