Based, it's nice to see people getting into VF to this day. Played the heck of VF4 back in the days, still on my mind today. Great video and yea here's hoping for a true new entry.
Great video! Happy to see the VF love! First played it back in early 1994 in a movie theatre lobby as an 8 year old kid and my mind was blown, i've been hooked ever since, easily my favorite 3-D fighter of all time and one of my top 3 favorite fighting game series overall along with SF and KOF. It's depth, purity, authenticity and it's superb system mechanics are what i love about it.
VF is my jam. Glad you are having fun with it. Jacky is a good main for a first timer - power but speed, plus coolness factor. I love the backflip kick. I've dabbled in him. Sarah is my main. I like how simple the controls are set up to begin playing but from there, mastery can take a very long time. It's been a while since I've played so I'm not sure if these tips help but - 1. You can start pressing your first combo before the round begins during the "ready fight" to make sure your character attacks first. 2. There is usually an additional stomp or punch you can do on your opponent after your first aerial attack knocks them to the ground that makes for a good combo. 3. Don't button mash, but do mash your combo moves, as you have seen additional pushing of the kick or punch button can extend a combo or perform it again. 4. When down on the ground, think counterattack move and not just getting away. You can usually do some kind of kick like a low sweep or back handspring that will get your opponent off your back while getting you back in a safer position. 5. If the AI falls for a move once, it will fall for it nearly every time. The AI is good but highly predictable once you know the right counter. It also works well on other players too but once they catch on to what you are doing you'll need to mix it up of course.
Hi, I would like to thank you for this video. I really enjoyed hearing about your personal involvement with the VF series. I know VF from Sega Saturn, which I owned back in the 90s, and now I still have it along with all other systems for which the next parts were released. We share the same feelings because, for me also VF2 and VF4 were the best of the whole VF series. I loved the Ranking Mode in VF2 for Sega Saturn, and the soundtrack was stunning, especially Akira stage music - "Ride the tiger." I have it on my playlist till today, and I'm 43 years old! VF4 on the other hand were so good in imitating the style of the real arcade players and gave me hundreds of hours of fun with haedntrqining learning tactics of the opponents and trying to be the best fighter. I love Virtua Fighter and I alway will be. Katsuhiro Harada really wants a competition with Virtua Fighter and he's right about this. I'm still waiting for Virtua Fighter 6 so Virtua Fighter will on top and I also want Virtua Fighter live action movie for 30th anniversary.
I spent countless hours playing Virtua Fighter II back in the day. 🙂 I feel like VF got over shadowed by Tekken. which are great fighting games, however, nothing matches the satisfying complexity of VF's gameplay. VF2 and Fighters MegaMix are the best fighting games I've ever played.
I think we desperately need a VF6 now that DoA is more dead than alive and Tekken fully embraced fantasy and anime. Tekken 8 became a effects shitshow. I always liked VF grounded martial arts focus. The simplicity, no gauges, no supers, no resources management. There is nothing like VF. I hope a new game keeps to its roots.
