Hello friends!
If you follow me on instagram and facebook, you know that recently I have gotten into planning and the entire creative side of it! I love that i can combine my creative artsy side, with being organized and keeping my personal life and my online mixed media business organized too!
This is a planner I customized for myself, so I could use it as a wallet, list maker, go to town, etc. planner. I made all the inserts, dividers and dashboard!

I just dug out an old Pocket Picadilly that I have had since 1996-ish. I felt it was too small to use on a daily basis, but your wallet idea is super!! Thanks!!

Really cute setup, very creative! I really like your "To Return" section for items you're returning to the store. I've noticed a trend in RU-vid-land lately of a lot of people wearing super long sleeves like yours, halfway down their hands. lol I've been using planners for many years. Technically, the Filofax Classic/Cross model that you have is not really "vintage", as you have listed in the title, since it's a relatively recent model (or one that has been listed on their website within the last couple years. Vintage Filofaxes are typically models from the 80s/90s or prior (Filofax started in 1921), such as the Portland, Balmoral, Winchester, etc. Also, I strongly recommend that you open the rings using the metal tabs on the ends. Opening them the way you are doing in this video can damage & gap them. Enjoy your Filofax!

I love love love the watercolour paper idea in the planner for sketching and doodling! Can't believe I've never thought of that before! I had the idea of making "palettes" using a piece of small card and watercolour pencils and then use them on the go but I never really thought of utilising them in a clever way until now! This is fantastic and actually made sense as to why people use smaller planners as "wallets." I never understood before but I really get it!

Another point of clarification: in planner world, people often mix up the terms "flyleaf" and "dashboard." A flyleaf is a page, often clear (but can be patterned) that can be used AS a dashboard. A dashboard is typically a page to store sticky note pages with various lists & notes on them for the day - a "dashboard view" of your day. Dashboard is more of a functional term.

Hi. I am new to finding you on all the media sites. Instagram Facebook etsy etc. I have just started journalling too...a couple of weeks now. I love all your ideas as I have a friend who sends me beautiful cards from America and I could maybe do something awesome with them for my planner. Oh man. This could be a very expensive new hobby! I've loved seeing these planner videos pop up. I'd have to stick with a planner though, I've never been good at it after a month or two.

Super Cute!! And for your first planner video..I learned a lot!! I love yours and the size of it.. I've been using planner for years..I'm old school..but just recently found out about keeping them/decorating them almost like a smashbook...I keep all of my planners as little time capsules..all the way back to 1997...I have a box of them..so fun to look back through. xo

it's like a personalized notebook! it's a very good idea. i do have o notebook in my bag for all the things i though when i'm out. but it's so hard to remind it after. with this way it will be facilitated. and i do have an old pocket filofax that i used a few years ago888 (ps: sorry for my bad english i hope you understand me!)

Hi Christy I found your blog through a pin about making bags from treasures. I read that specific post and am excited about reading your blog. I am a wanna be artist and love reading about others' creativity and art. I am especially intrigued by mixed media. With all of that said, I really like how you have organized your planner. I am always looking for just the right notebook to take along with me so I can remember things or jot things down. This seems like a perfect alternative. I may even have a pocket size planner someplace in my house. The idea of it not being specifically specifically a calendar makes the idea to begin using a planner again much more doable. Also I love the idea of changing quotes. I am thinking though that I may put a small monthly calendar in mine so that when I go to meetings I can remember dates. Thank you for the idea. I am looking forward to reading your blog ,creating a new planner, and perusing your etsy store.

A Midori is really good to use as a art book as well as a planner. I would love that hole punch, it would be so much easy and quicker than using my little single one, but unfortunately to buy one off Amazon is very costly and the postage is also so expensive and that's if you even manage to find a shop on Amazon that will post to Australia.

Easy! You just take a picture of whatever surface you want and then have it printed on vinyl at your local shop! You can take pictures of old crates, tables, surfaces.. Sooo many possibilities!!

Okay, seriously weird. I have that same top and I know it's late but, guess I need to head to bed. Cause when I clicked on the link I thought "Wait, I didn't film this video, and those aren't my rings!" Clearly I'm over tired. That is a great top though, I have really long arms and it's quite the thrill to own a shirt with sleeves that hit my wrist!

I am not sure if it is ironic or just practical necessity but I had come to the conclusion last Summer that while I love my iPhone and iCal it wasn't working. I used to be so much more organized and I am a stay at home mom now. I was more organized when I planned my wedding by myself while living out of state, while working full time, and while getting 2 master's degrees. I have been missing birthdays, missing appts. missing life. I get little done and forget what I wanted to do. The biggest change in all those years? I no longer have a place to keep lists that are always in view. Yes I write them on Stickies or Notes on my computer but it is easy to close them and forget. We must use iCal as my husband Flies for Fed Ex and his schedule changes literally monthly or more often so I need to see his changes as soon as he makes them. But I need to write it all down as well. Now the entire world seems to have reached the same conclusion at the same time. Computers are great but not perfect.

in my art studio I have a pole that mounts down from the cieling and my camera attatches to it, so it can view my view of what i am doing.

Christy, I bought ur planner inserts. I'm having a heck of a time printing them. I am using a Mac. Each time I go to print it, it prints the back of the page upside down. Please Help! xo Tori.... I asked on ur FB page but, it was deleted for some reason. 😔 Thk u

Hey sweets easier to message me in esty where you purchased it. I am not a Mac user, so I don't know what your settings are. But it seems like what you would want to do is just turn your paper around. Then if wouldn't be printing upside down. Also keep on mind the first January is one side and the second January is the other side to be printed on it. If you still can't figure it out, take the file to staples, they can do it easy peasy

could you possibly post the actual size (in inches) of this one? the filofax planners seem to be expensive at their site...do you have a "planner connection" you can share for better prices??

they list the size of them on the site where I have it linked. (you can easily convert it on any website, by googling conversation chart). I know the inserts dashboard size is around 3.25 by 4.75, but the actual size of the planner depends on the style and model. Filofaxes are expensive, just in General. And as far as I know, there are only two companies that carry this "pocket" size planners, though you may want to check with staples too. Kikk k, (there pocket size is called small) is one and filofax is another. I have joined many facebook pages on facebook, that sell and buy planners and found them for cheaper on there. Just put in Filofax and you will see a list of them come up. There are tons.

Please don't open the rings like that! You're gonna ruin them. Use the little tab thingies on the top and the bottom of the ring mechanism, just press them down with your thumbs.
