I know it's been a whole month, but just in case you're still looking into MHS, I graduated last year, and I can honestly tell you, it is not easy, but going to MHS is the best decision I've ever made. Every single step of the way I was challenged to try something new or do something else, to step out of comfort zone. To learn. To grow. But the best part of MHS? You don't have to do it alone. My support system at MHS consisted of a wide variety of people, including my houseparents from SH Midvale, my Girl Scout troop leader, my Calculus and Chemistry teachers, my TL staff, and even the president of the school himself, Mr. Gurt (or Gurt as we like to call him). I just started college at Rochester Institute of Technology in late August, and having gone to MHS, I now realize how much of a "leg-up" I have. Not only was I given a full academic scholarship (all because I had teachers at MHS who challenged me to push myself academically) to attend RIT, but they taught me the most important lesson that I've learned college students, and even adults lack, your success, in anything, depends on if you have the discipline to manage your freedom. This is a very sad story. All I can say is my daughter graduated in 2020 and thrived in MHS. MHS is not for everyone. The success of a student there really depends on their sponsor n family. My daughter struggled many times while there and I got in the car and drove to the school and showed her love and support. Its never easy but it's always worth it. What I'm gonna say the system at MHS let her down but the parents must take some responsibility also. The poor girl was worried about her dad cause of his problems its just sad. I have to proclaim the school does so much good for so many kids even with this horrible tragedy the good tremendously outweigh the bad.... RIP Abbie 🙏🙏🙏
