"nowadays I hope this attitude is less common" I just bought a spyro plush for a female friend who lives like 5 states away and I haven't seen in person about 10 years because she loved that game and it came up in a plushie group for cheap. And I already have 2 of them, one of them being 3 feet tall lol. SERIOUSLY though, Spyro was like the pikachu of Playstation, boys would find him cool from his brave, snarky attitude and girls would find him adorable, or both.

It's so nice to see you talk about the PlayStation. That was childhood right there. I got one in 1998 for Xmas because Mum was convinced gaming would help me socialise better. Some of the games nearest and dearest to my heart are on the PS1 and for years I felt RU-vid mostly ignored them as a whole. Huge shout out for Search for Reptar. That game is extremely solid. I remember borrowing the Spice World game from the video shop too. I love Spyro (especially number 1) and like Crash well enough. Most of the obscure platformers (Tomba, Klonoa) are really fun but also crazy, crazy expensive. Gex is a lot cheaper and is pretty crude but oozes platforming goodness too. If you like Tomb Raider you might like Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Very atmospheric and dark but but with a great world and narrative. Oh The Bug's Life game is fantastic. Really strong platformer of a licensed game. I reckon of any game I suggested you'd like that the most. There really are a tonne of RPGs for it but one of my favourite is Guardian's Crusade, which if I had to compare to any other game would be Ni no Kuni for PS3. Very simplistic but great music. Other games that are classics are Roll Away (puzzle goodness), MediEvil (just got remade on PS4, very Nightmare Before Christmas), Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus (platformers with strong critiques of consumerism), Ape Escape (Requires the DualShock), Jersey Devil (platformer, one of my faves), Vib Ribbon (cute rhythm game). Most of these are available on PSN if you have a PS3 and don't wanna shell out for expensive games. Great to see you back and excited to see more videos as you get time :).

Loved hearing about you and your Dad and sister playing Tomb Raider together! That whole thing with boys not letting you play on their consoles because you were a girl was pretty shitty though. Strangely, my first introduction to a Playstation One was basically the opposite of yours. When I was a kid, one day I was over at a family friend's house and their two daughters had a PSOne which they let me play Spyro on.

As a kid I used to be kinda sad about the severe lack of girl gamers. I'm not that social as a person, so one of the few ways I am able to bond with people is through, well gaming. I'm happy to see that today the world is a different place, and not only full of more girl gamers, but more accepting of them too. We still have a lot more progress to make on that end when it comes to respecting girl gamers, but I hope that with each passing generation, girls, boys and everyone else can bond together on equal grounds using gaming as a medium.
@CreativeWM_Personal
@CreativeWM_Personal 3 года назад
As awkward as I was back then if I could enjoy video games with someone then I didn't care what their gender was as all that matter was having fun, that said I never had female friends growing up. But these days I do have one female friend and the few times we could get together to hang out outside of personal drama and pandemics, the time we spent playing games we enjoyed ourselves.
@LynnMooney
@LynnMooney 3 года назад
This is so true. I'm trying to think back how many female gamers I would even interact with. I didn't have a lot of female gamer friends as a kid. There's one gamer that I still talk to today that I met in middle school. I would bond with other guys that liked the same stuff I liked. As a kid I liked to play with power rangers, collect pokemon cards, and play games on the Gameboy. Trading pokemon through the link cable was lots of fun. 😊 On the play ground I didn't mind getting scrapes, bruises, and calluses when playing on the Geometric Dome jungle gym. So besides video games I would bond with guys on the playground.
@JackOfen
@JackOfen 3 года назад
My sister, my girlfriend and two of her friends are all girl gamers, however they often still don't want to reveal that online because there are still douchebags that will treat them differently afterwards. Doesn't matter if they become more rude or suddenly stop being rude. Treating someone different because they are a girl is silly.

Spyro happened to be a hallmark of my childhood as well! Not sure if it was officially the first game I played, but I know he was the first video game character that I adored! He was the reason purple was my favorite color growing up and I really liked dragons because of him too! Spyro 3 was the game I had memories of and is also my favorite in the trilogy. It's so cool that we both have fond memories of him :).

The first PlayStation game I ever bought was Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone when I was around 8 years old. It had the most frustrating controls I have ever felt and I never beat it. Also I have that same third party memory card from when the Osco by my first home was selling those. I fell off your channel in the summer after I graduated from highschool and RU-vid (un)kindly erased you from my recommended videos. Today, I was reintroduced to you via another channel! I remember growing up I had a N64 and my cousin a PS1, I did enjoy playing zelda and mario a lot, but at one point there were a bunch of PS1 games I was urging to play. I asked my father for a ps1 one day for my birthday, and he surprised me by coming home with a newly released PS2, that was a very touching moment I still remember fondly to this day.

another nostalgic video!! ps1 was the pinnacle of my childhood gaming era... one day my dad spontaneously came home from work with a brand new one for me and my sister. the opening intro to primal rage is forever etched into my brain. i was mindblown by the 3d graphics since all i was exposed to prior was pretty much only sega and nes. i actually first got into gaming thanks to many girls/women in my family. my aunt gave my mom an atari, a sega master system, and an nes so i first started with that. then a family friend gave my older sister a game boy, who let me have it since i was more into it. when we got a ps1, i was old enough to understand how to care for the hardware and disks, so it holds a special place in my heart. i remember i used to go to gaming stores with my mom and she would let me get whatever cheap game i wanted. all the gaming clerks would always try to convince her that a game was too violent and mature for me to play but she would be like naaah its cool and bought it anyways. one time i got resident evil 2 and geez i had to exchange it for something else since i was terrified of the first level. i ended up getting mega man legends. perhaps you would like those if you havent tried them. the megaman legends series. anyways, long live psx =^.^=

Yo I fr haven’t seen your channel in 6 years. Last video i watched was when you ranked the generations of pokémon, I got into pokémon again recently so i had to find a lot of the channels i used to watch.

My favorite PlayStation game is Orphen: Scion of Sorcery, it is actually a PlayStation 2 game. I hope to replay it this year, it’s permanently at the top of my ps list. Great Video 👍🏾

I put SOOOO many hours into Harvest Moon: Back to Nature back in 2002/3. It was so addictive that I ended up being late to my university lectures - let's say more than a few times. Fast forward to Christmas 2020 and my oldest daughter got Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town which (yes, I know it's Harvest Moon in everything but name) has a very familiar village layout.

Can't go wrong with any of the JRPGS on the PS1. Don't know if you ever played any of the Odd-world games but I liked them a lot. Great video as always 😁

When I was kid, my playstation collection consisted of spyro, crash 2 and 3(but not 1), and several demo discs. Because I didn't have a memory card for a long time, if I wanted to see the later levels on any of these games, I had to make it to them in one sitting. This kind of inadvertently turned me into a speedrunner for all 3 of these games, which was fine with me, since I had already been playing a ton of NES games that didn't have save features at all, and had to be played all in one sitting anyway, so I was basically speedrunning those too. I got REALLY good at the first couple worlds of spyro and crash 3. When the remakes came out, it was SOOO hard not to speed through those first couple worlds so I could appreciate the new graphics. Several levels I genuinely forgot to slow down and actually look at. All because I didn't have a memory card as a kid.

Speaking of RPGs on PS1, does anyone else remember The Legend of Dragoon? My brother let me have a file on his copy when I was 4 and it's really the only JRPG I got into as a kid

I never had a playstation, but through emulation I was able to play a few games I always wanted to try out in the early 2010s, like Megaman Legends, Digimon World, FF7, and some of the Megaman X games (I was a big Megaman fan). Underrated console imo, I liked that there were so many random games for it too
