He never complimented, or praised, her, or their daughter, or praised her cooking, and his favouritism towards the son was clear. HE should have been a better husband, and praised her, and their daughter, as well as the son. She did all the work, and he disregarded her as though she were nothing. Cue the abuse, as you don't have the balls to reply politely.

Don't forget that we only hear the father's side, we don't know HOW he praised his son or if he ever praised his daughter and wife.

It's a better ending that the ACTUAL story that was shared in Reddit. The woman got so insanely angry that her husband defended their son that she went on a cheating and drinking rampaing and now the couple it's getting a divorce.

First and foremost the father was not wrong at all. It was a legitimate compliment for a his son. His mother taking umbrage with it is what’s unreasonable. No mother or father should ever compete with a child. Ever. However I liked that he didn’t belittle the mother for being human. We all stumble at times. He called her out on her bad behavior but he gave her a little room to try and see it for herself. The fact that she became worse to me is a sign that in her family her parent either father or mother had the same issue. So she doesn’t know how to fix it. Family therapy is a great idea. A good therapist won’t take anyone’s side but will make sure everyone is heard, and then the healing can start.
