Before marriage I told my "wants" she's financially illiterate and bad finance will ruin our marriage. So we agreed for me to take the mantle of finances. I thank Dave everyday for making me look like a genius with finances despite being a bit of a mess too.

Raising 5 (5-13yrs) kids in an 1100sqft 3/1.5! It's PAID OFF! Youngest was born the day after we moved in. It's not about the size of house or the income. Be content with what you have the "zoo" will be fine!

I grew up with my two other brother so three kids in 1,000 square foot house so much smaller than his 1,700 and I felt it was big enough. Personally I think he needs to work on retirement not on impressing the joneses or trying to justify a house upgrade through his kids.

They spent the whole video telling the man to talk to his wife and express his desires as well and then come together and compromise and develop a plan together. Finally, at the end they got him to articulate himself and his wants. And then they just shot him down, saying it was a selfish desire and immature and now he has a wife and kids. What the heck? I feel ripped off. The wife may be right (and probably is to a large extent), but I think this advice was more destructive and puts the dude back to where he started. Only now it's my wife and Dave and John want a nicer house.

Unless he has a large amount set aside for retirement it’s foolish to get that big of a house. It’s not just the price of the house, the upkeep and taxes are going to be much higher. And what about the time it takes to clean and maintain it. To me my time is much more important than having a huge house.

i dont know WA real estate, but in my area going from 325k to 650k could be quadrupling the size of the house. ive legitimately seen 10k sqft mansions in the 600k range. his wife does sound like a princess and they should have no issues getting a 4 bedroom house for 300-400k. if not then move out of that overpriced communist hellhole... even 300k is a massive amount for a house, 650 is just nuts
