Holden, as a current DM of a 5E campaign that my wife plays in, you should definitely get back into it! I know y’all have a ton to watch but “The Legend of Vox Machina” on Prime video is definitely worth a watch! It’s based on a D&D campaign from Critical Role (a bunch of nerdy-ass voice actors who sit around and play D&D). All that to say, super excited y’all are watching Stranger Things!

You should not feel bad! I too just found out about the Stranger Things craze! I thought it was just a Goosebumps type thing... Boy was I wrong! I went binge crazy on S1-3 and feel in love!!! And Vol 1 of S4... Chefs kiss!

Hearing Holdman say this is “a fully original series” made me chuckle 😂

I clicked on this so damn fast. I feel like if you like stuff like the Goonies meets X-Files. I remember being so skeptical when it first came out because everyone was raving about it. I was instantly hooked and binged the entire season. It's just one of those shows that feels special. And I think this video may hold the record for the most "Holden Thomas Hardman" mentions that we've ever heard in a single video.

I try and get my wife to watch a bunch of new shows a lot. And after a lot of trial and error, I have been able to tell the mood/energy level that is needed for a show to have a decent chance of snagging her interest. LOL and Jen's energy is this video (which is absolutely fine) would have been one where I suggest we just try and start this later. LOL

I’ve literally just finished season 1 so I can’t wait to see Jen’s reaction because I really loved it. I’ve put off watching it for ages and idk why tbh? I never thought it would be bad but I guess it’s because Netflix releases it all in one so by the time I would think to watch it everyone’s already moved on.

I thought that the prank encounters show should have been called "Stranger Pranks" seeing as how it was two strangers being pranked in a horror fashion - it sounds like stranger things - it was a Netflix original staring a cast member of stranger things.

Yall should really watch 11.22.63 Its a show on time travel in the 60's ab JFK assassination with James Franco, Chris Cooper, Sarah Gadon, Daniel Webber, George MacKay, and its amazing i wish there was another season. but really worth looking into. The sets for the show itself are so well done and really feels like it was filmed in the 60's.

This story is fiction but the screen writers got inspiration from what went on in Montauk, New York at Camp hero some say they did mind control experiments and other things like that.

4:25 want a trpg with growing community then look into pathfinder 2e :D What’s the difference? In easiest terms is this: dnd you get to roleplay your character. In pathfinder you got to roleplay your character AND play as that role on the board. The upside of current dnd is it’s very flexible on how ppl roleplay who they want to play with no restrictions BUT because of that certain mechanics like skills and abilities don’t help back that up. So gm usually just say “go for it” and honestly just bs what whatever you and then can think of on the fly. Some ppl like this but others ain’t fan of it If not fan of that then pathfinder is different. You still roleplay but thanks to skill in pathfinder they help back up the roleplay you do. Wanna be a bartender but decide to say &@&! It that job and go adventure as a bard? Sure abs that old bartender background still has influence thanks to it providing bonus skills like lore (pretty much knowledge in profession) and persuasion. Mix that with bard and boom you can entertain ppl better. Later as you lvl up you can grab the celebrity archetype (imagine bonus class) and if you want you could make your own brand beer in a fantasy setting and showcase it. If ppl go “why you $&@?ing on dnd?” As someone who played dnd 5e since 2016 to now and play pathfinder 2e since early last year I’m being brutally honest and truthful here. Dnd 5e it is dated on rule mechanics since it released in 2014 vs other new trpgs since then like pathfinder 2e, Ryuutama, lancer and more trpgs releasing. They ain’t gonna update rules on a long time so unless I dm and homebrew the living hell out of 5e rules or im a player and do a lot of homebrew options then sure I will play. If not then I just go straight to pathfinder or other trpgs since they got rule mechanics that is better instead of the dated default rules for 5e.

Omg the group of kids on an adventure is what hooked me in like a sucker. Goonies, ET, you name it I love it. It's so interesting that that's one of the aspects that puts Jen off. I always find it fascinating to see how we experience media in different ways. I wonder if Joyce's story will appeal more to Jen than the actual main characters as we go forward

I'm so excited that you guys are starting to watch Stranger Things! In my humble opinion it's one of the best sci-fi/horror shows that has ever been created. Lots of nostalgia, gorgeous cinematography, a very haunting score, an amazing story line and expertly fleshed out characters makes this one of my all time favorite shows. You guys are in for one wild ride! I rank the first three seasons as: Season 1, Season 3, and then season 2 but they are all phenomenal!

Every time Jen yawns at something, I take a drink. For that and other reasons, I find this channel intoxicating. I have a sister who's the same way. Regardless of whether she does or doesn't like the movie. Excited to see what she thinks of this season as a whole.

This is going to be a fun journey, this is one of my favorite shows of all time and I have a feeling that Jen will love it more and more as it goes on!

Steve might be a jerk in season 1, but season 3 Steve is an entirely different person. 👌🏻

13:00 even though I’m 50/50 with dnd 5e (been playing long time on it, I like it but dislike it same time mainly on official rules and settings so I prefer homebrew rules) if want to get into it then the Starter set is ideal. Commonly $20 but amazon you can get for about $10-$15 bucks. Starter set comes with adventure, dice, basic rules and I remember right pregen characters. If want to go for something newer/updated then Pathfinder 2nd edition is ideal especially thanks to beginner box set. Avg $40 but you can get it for $25-30 be amazon or elsewhere. Comes with dice, pregen characters, gm and player rule books, reference cards, player/creature pawns and dry erase dungeon map. PLUS if want to further it the company does have a free pdf (physical version exist but that costs about $15 bucks) called Troubles in Otari that is assorted adventures with different lvls you can try. If want something old school dnd but in modern form and improved rules then look into Dungeon Crawl Classics or Old School Essentials. Rules are easy to follow, make character in about 10-15 mins and your way to go and play. If want specific theme trpgs there are many. For a roguish/intrigue focus there’s Blades in the Dark, a social/farming style trpg look into Ryuutama (or in English it means Dragon Egg), or something action/mech focus then Lancer exists. There are many with each different themes and rules depending on the players. The market isn’t exclusively dungeons and dragons or other big fantasy companies like warhammer rpg anymore.

Just starting your reactions to Stranger Things now. So excited to watch these. The current season is amazing. ❤ Btw the show may take place in Indiana but the writers are from the same place I was born and grew up in (Durham, NC) so there's many references to here throughout every season.

The goonies is one of my favorite films. I can’t really describe what it is. But there’s something about the Netflix show Outer Banks that really reminds me of it. A great show.

Her as a rogue and Matt as a fighter or barbarian? Come on! It's a no-brainer. Excellent fun and bonding for you guys and fantastic content for your channel. If you've been away form the game for a long time, just get the 3 core 5th edition books and some dice. It's all you need. The game has never been more accessible than it is now.
