For everybody who’s nervous, I’ll start out by saying healing varies between person to person, but I just had all 4 removed yesterday, I had minimal pain, still have miniminal pain, no swelling, my bleeding stopped last night and I feel fine, I think the anxiety behind getting it done is what freaks people out along with horror stories you shouldn’t listen to, take your oral surgeon or dentists advice n follow it and you should be fine

Have someone Ice you down as soon as you get home (if your Dr says that is OK) Take AdviI as soon as your Dr says you can. (Both reduces swelling) I would say NO to any food that will not completely dissolve in your mouth, I suggest mashed potatoes, Jell-O gelatin, ice cream. Do NOT use a straw for anything.

YOU WILL BE FINE, I PROMISE. I just wanted to add a comment here as all of your experiences really helped me. I had mine out yesterday (two on the same side, one was fully erupted but the other one was impacted). I had IV sedation. Getting the IV in was seriously so easy, I spoke to the dental assistant and didn't look so had no idea it was happening. The procedure itself was so quick, I put some music on in my noise cancelling earphones and even though I was definitely still conscious I was completely calm and sort of outside of my own body. Once it was all over, I just went home and didn't say anything silly, I felt in complete control of myself. The pain isn't bad, I'm just taking the medicine they gave me. Seriously I promise you will be okay, this is such an everyday routine for dentists. My tips - Exercise the morning of, if you have time - If you're especially anxious, ask if you can take a valium beforehand - Stock up on soft food you actually like - Take recovery seriously so you don't get dry socket (my biggest priority rn) - Ice packs! - Play music in your earphones if you can - My sedationist wrapped me in a blanket which was very comforting, maybe ask if you can bring one - Set alarms for your meds - Have some fun activities lined up! Sending you all love. xx

Its nearly 4am and I've been having panic attacks repeatedly all throughout today and yesterday. I have an anxiety disorder and I'm so stressed I can't sleep and I feel nauseous. I have a sever phobia of needles and stitches and I don't know how I'm going to manage. The whole process horrifies me and I still don't know when I'm going to get it done. I also have twitches which cause me to jerk around uncontrollably, so the IV is even scarier because of that. I'm just absolutely balling rn, I'm so incredibly stressed idk what to do. :(

Hey! I had my wisdom teeth out a few weeks ago and had a good experience so I wanted to share. Going into it I was REALLY nervous, particularly for the IV. The nurses were really nice, and they talked me through everything. Knowing exactly what was going to happen definitely put me more at ease. When the IV went in, it was just a poke (like a vaccine) and after that there was no discomfort, it just felt like something was sitting on my arm. After that I closed my eyes and waited for the anesthesia to kick in. It felt just like falling asleep normally. When I woke up I wasn't in any pain, and I wasn't loopy. The "numbness" in my mouth felt kind of strange, but after a couple of hours it had mostly wore off, and I could talk pretty normally. The strongest pain medication I needed while recovering was ibuprofen. The most uncomfortable part for me was the swelling, but ice packs (and steroids if prescribed) really help with that. About 3 weeks after my surgery I did have to go back to have an infection cleaned out (I have a small mouth and my gum may have tried to heal over one of my other teeth), but besides that I had a really easy recovery. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself there was no reason to freak out over the surgery :) If you're about to have your wisdom teeth out I wish you the best of luck, and I bet it's probably not as bad as you're thinking it is!

To anyone awaiting the surgery, it's not the procedure that's scary, it's the pain you feel afterwards that's the real kicker. I'm on day 2 now and I'm not in any pain thanks to my meds but one side of my face is pretty swollen. Frozen vegetable packs or ice packs are a good source of instant relief though if needed.

Not bad at all! I went in, did some routine questions. They went over what I was getting done. they put in the iv, gave me my oxygen, and they put on the heart monitors . They put on some music so i could relax. and then my surgeon came in with his team. the nurse that did my iv administered the anesthesia into the iv and I started feeling a bit drowsy in like 2 mins. And before I know it I was out and waking up listening to the sounds of samba lol. I definitely recommend iv sedation!!! As for aftercare, what I didn't expect was a little nausea from the anesthesia. But they give u meds for that and it WORKS GREAT! And I didn't expect my mouth to over produce saliva (to I assume help with clotting). So keep a trashcan or cup and napkins close by. I didn't have to take any of the hard narcotics prescribed ibuprofen 800 did everything I needed it to. But I do recommend Naproxen sodium because it's easier on your liver. But if you take ur meds as prescribed you'll stay ahead of any pain. Swelling was 5 days total before I looked normal. Get plenty of rest. Relax. Let this be a vacation and you'll heal quickly. Good luck! Let me know if u have a question 🙂

@@hazelnuteyes 3 of my 4 were impacted and I also had an extra molar removed because one of the teeth did so much damage to it, it couldn't be saved. So i had 5 teeth pulled. Not to mention they were shifting my alignment and caused me to have a bad bite (which if i smiled you could never tell) and that shifting mixed with my bite was fracturing other teeth. Just remember, this is only temporary. The procedure itself isn't bad at all. Especially if ur having full sedation. Just breathe and think about a funny video. @@candywilson3884 it really was not that bad, I was literally only in there for not even thirty minutes. Got taken back at 6:09am, my family got the ready call at 6:31am 🤣💀 But that’s mainly because all my wisdom teeth were fully ruptured so taking them out was super easy peasy for them. The anesthesia worked really quick I didn’t even get to feel the blood pressure cuff start🤣 and other than getting back to being comfortable to like chew more coarse/crunchy food, and being to smoke out my bong again, I’d say it went really smoothly, just make sure you’re very properly cleaning, and I suggest keeping the cleaning routine for an extra week just to be safe if you do smoke since it slows the healing process. tip for everyone getting IV anesthesia, it's not that bad as someone that has to get an IV monthly. If you have a good nurse the IV should be in in just one second and you'll only feel a small sharp pain if it's numbed good. Make sure to drink water because it's supposed to make your veins bigger and easier to get the IV into, otherwise they might have to fish around and it'll hurt a lot, I've had it happen once before. Also just try to stay calm. If you tense up then you can make it super hard to get the IV into the vein.

I had my surgery two days ago for my wisdom teeth. I have six wisdom teeth ((Yeah crazy)). So like the day before the surgery at night I have to take a pill to calm my nerves down and that didn't really help. The day of the surgery I took another two pills to calm my nerves it actually worked that time. Then we went to the doctor place. I was like thinking whats gonna happen after I wake up, will I remember. That type of stuff.. So we drove up and we had to call them to get in and this time they were super quick about us getting us into the dentist. I was like what the heck. Usually their like take their time. Anyway we go in they bring me to this room like a regular looking room, but kinda bigger in a way. I lay down on the chair and the doctors assistant is like the doctor will be here shortly. In my mind, I was like uhhh okay... I was nervous but like I wasn't because the pills were like fighting off the nervousness in a way. So she lowers the chair so it can be flat. She does blood pressure and puts this nose thing aka oxgen thing. Then the next part is pretty weird the chair thing lifts up and they table with supplies is like over me ((a thin tall table)). The doctor comes in and askes me if I'm nervous and I say of course I am. He asks if I have any questions then I say no. They grabbed the needle and I was lowkey scared, but when they put it in my air it legit felt like nothing... Which is kinda weird. Also I didn't feel a thing with the oxygen. I barely remember the part after I closed my eyes to pretend like I fell asleep LOL. I could hear their voices talking about something random then the doctor was looking in my mouth, but it didn't hurt. After that all of a sudden they were done?! Just like that it's super weird. I heard the doctors assistant. I was like should I wake up... Then I decided to close my eyes for a while just in case I opened it while they were doing the surgery. After one minute I opened my eyes no one was in the room. Then the doctors assistant comes and askes how I'm doing. I say good. I also didn't know they put the tissues in my mouth. I laid there for a good 6 minutes then she took me out to my car and I was really dizzy, but very aware. Overall It's not that scary as I thought it was gonna be. I have six wisdom teeth and it isn't that sore actually well the first day was sore. It depends who the person is I guess. Edit: Oh and I'm 15

For the first 1-2 days there's a little pain and soreness, after which it's only if you chew directly on it, it's felt to any significant extent. I did take some over the counter pain killers the first couple of days, so that probably helped too.

Getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow at 9AM! Was crazy anxious but I watched some people who got theirs done, and tbh it doesn’t seem that bad anymore. Everyone says they wake up basically painless and it felt like it only took 2 minutes, even my mom says that. Still nervous though, and I have a headache so, not sure if I’ll sleep much 😢. Hopefully I’ll remember to keep y’all updated! Wish me luck, I have been dreading this moment for yearssss!

Yeah I got it over with 🎉 Here’s what happened. I was literally terrified the entire way over to the surgery place. I went to the bathroom when I got there to breathe and panic text my friend and then I was called. At that point I was trembling in fear. I got an x-ray scan, and then went to this surgery room, laid down, and had a blanket laid on me so I wouldn’t be cold. They asked if I wanted the breathing gas or the IV, and cause I’ve always done laughing gas since I was a kid I did the breathing gas, and oh goodness gracious, I hated it. It feels hard to breathe and breathing it makes you feel really weird and dizzy and lightheaded and like you’re breathing some deadly chemical. I wanted to beg and plead them to stop but by that point I couldn’t move and I realized it was too late and I just had to suffer. I have extreme emetophobia to the point that I had to do to therapy before, so it was absolutely terrifying for me. I have not thrown up YET, and I have been a little nauseous but ok so far. My brain just feels like it died with that gas, and it’s really hard to remember much of what happened. I was fully aware when I woke up and wasn’t all weird so yay 👍 But my suggestion is get the IV because that was the worst experience of my life. Although the IV may be just like it, I have no idea.

@AnnaKatherineYT

The IV felt like a pinch but it didn’t hurt after it was in. the tube in my nose didn’t hurt at all it just sat at the tip of my nose, and the air had a light smell but it didn’t smell too bad. And I didn’t notice when the anesthesia started, but after about 30 seconds that was when the room started spinning and I fell asleep.

Then i remember the doctor putting an IV in my arm i think to start fluids to hydrate me & not long after the surgeon came in and started my anesthesia and he said “okay time to get sleepy this might make you feel dry or itchy but it will go away soon” and i don’t think i even responded i think i must have fallen asleep right as he was talking to me. but after that i can’t remember anything except for at some point after i woke up (i don’t even remember waking up i was just awake all of the sudden Lol) the surgeon told me my bf was pulling his car up for me and then i remember asking where my teeth were and he said he threw them in the “teeth garbage”. my bf said i kept complaining about how ridiculous it was that they threw my teeth away and i wanted to see them Lol. I felt the same way because when I felt the hole with my tongue it felt really weird. If you saw in the second half of the video, some of my holes got infected but they got better after I had them cleaned out for the second time. update: (if anyone cares lol) so i stuck w getting the whole thing done in the afternoon. wasn't too bad, was pretty hangry, but what can u do. they just called me in, sat me down, took my blood pressure. then, they stuck those sticky patch things on me. 2 on my chest, and 1 on the side of my stomach. this nurse lady gave me a rundown of the procedure. then a couple minutes later the surgeon walked in along with like 4 other nurses. few moments after that got prepped, sat back in the chair, and had the iv put in. they didn't give me the cold numbing spray, but it wasn't too bad. told them i was nervous about needles, but the surgeon assured me that it would only be a pinch. made me lightly grip this small foam thing, and like they said i only felt a tiny prick. they told me it would take maybe 30 secs for me to go under but i think it was more like 5 secs for me. felt like i'd only blinked and before i knew it i could hear the nurses voices again. then i opened my eyes, felt somewhat drowsy, got walked to my ride and went back home. tbh i was real nervous abt the whole thing, but the way the staff handled it made me feel real relaxed. recovery hasn't been so bad. 1st day did feel a lot of pain, swelled up a bunch on my left side. but that was only bc my pain meds at the pharmacy weren't ready so i had to wait a while. but other than that as long as i was elevated i was ok. was sent home with mouthwash, 1 strong pain med (stopped using that after the 1st day), more pain meds but of a lesser dosage, and antibiotics. also, eat lots of mashed potatoes, fills u up so u can take meds and easy to eat. hope this helps anyone who's nervous.

My sister and I are getting our wisdom teeth removed on the, I think, the fifteenth of November. A few months ago, when we went to the dentist, my sister came back into the waiting room, crying. My stepmom explained what is going to happen to her because she had a couple of teeth problems which are now fixed - minus the root canals which from what I heard won't get done until she is twenty-five, and when she got to the part about the wisdom teeth, she said she'll be asleep. My sister thought she'd be awake because she had one tooth extraction when she was ten years old. Nope, we'll be sleeping. My sister never had an I.V., though I had one a couple of times.

A letter to my orthodontist . Regarding the wisdom tooth, I just want to say that I decided to remove it since I saw there is not so much space and that its not coming out fully and it sometimes gives me issues. But I already regret it very much. It was very painful 8 hours after the operation. I have the tooth in a bag. It was the biggest and healthiest teeth I had in my mouth. No cavities, no holes, very big and strong. Such a teeth could have been a gift for the older me to last the next 50 years, while older teeth sometimes do not hold as I age. It was so vey stupid to remove it. But consulting with many orthodontists and dentists, I was never given a better opinion, rather than to remove it. I think this is very wrong. That tooth was 80% out... now that I know how big it was, and I remember how you can shave off 0.1-0.5 mm one sided with this metal paper... Any dentist could have made more space for it in the front and then pulled it into the mouth to allow the gums to close behind it. Maybe it would have taken a year or two since it's a big molar. But I assume it would have been possible... And saving a tooth like that should be one of the top priorities of the ortodontic community... I can not believe how the dental medicine community takes care to save each tooth in the mouth from root and cavity - but they are so eager to remove a fully grown, brand new, molar tooth! It is completely absurd. It's time for dentist community to wake up. Claims like "it's hard to brush the tooth in the back" to justify a tooth removal should not be heard in today's medicine... It's simply not correct, and one do not "shoot a dog just because he doesn't always clean after him". Also, in my case saying that "that tooth had no contra tooth above it" is not really correct. That tooth was partially helping the upper moller - it can be seen in the invisalign simulation. If moved more into the mouth, it would have been perfect. Now that it is gone.. the upper molar doesn't have a full contra from below. So this whole arguments routine that I heard from many, just sounds more like a repeating mantra for every patient rather than a real truth for a specific case. I am in no way trying to put any blame on you. I am the stupid one of not thinking about 0.5mm removal beforehand. But all dental doctors are failing their patients, if they do not raise this option. I hope that if you see a case like mine in the future you would allow yourself to think about such an option to save the tooth. Yes it may be more work. Yes it may not have a documented common procedure. But it is all about saving teeth in the end. It is true that clients are ignorant and don't know anything out of all the science that dentists were taught and experienced. But you can't always be right on anything. Doctors are wrong too, sometimes. Tonsils were removed for millions of people not long ago. And it was completely unnecessary. Millions of operations on children were done, just because doctors were too lazy to go against the flow and examine the facts more closely. Tell me that the dental community isn't too eager to remove wisdom teeth just because this is what the book says. Tell me that the money incentive of pulling out teeth is never a factor in the decision. I want to believe that. But the evidence - they say something different.

Hi! I read comments here the day before my surgery and it helped me a lot! That is why I want to leave a comment too. So, my impacted wisdom tooth was been extracted before a couple of hours and i had only local anestesia. I was able to hear everything but I felt only a little bit of pressure, no pain at all! It lasted less than an hour and I was able to go home immediately with a recipe for painkillers and antibiotics. My doctor and a nurse told me everything I need and everything I wanted to know. They were really kind and the atmosphere was great. Now I am at home, eating yogurt and writing this comment. Anestesia leaved me alone with my ice bags and the smile on my face. Now it hurt just a little bit, I literary feel it only when I think about it instead of the show I am going to watch. If anyone have any questions about my case, I will be happy to answer them if @AnnaKatherineYT agree. One more time: thank you SO MUCH for this video and all of these comments. PS. Throw the process of surgery and recovery, i think that our feelings play rlly big role, so if u prepare urself mentally I think that everything will be much more better!

@@candywilson3884 honestly watching videos scared me way more then they should have lol…. It wasn’t rly that bad I don’t even remember getting knocked out lol I remember going to the office going into the room having a consult then I passed out the next thing I remember was waking up they let my mom come back in the room and I pet her like she was my dog… the worst part for me was the pain the day after I couldn’t even swallow it was that bad

In a few days I have to get 6 wisdom teeth removed. (And yeah 6 is possible). I’m really nervous about the surgery but more nervous about what it’s gonna be like afterwards. I’m not good at handling pain so… this is very scary for me. I also hate needles and all that going into my arms I feel like that hurts. So uh… yes very scary for me. I’m also not good at swallowing pills and all of that. I always feel like I’m going to choke. I have no idea how I’m gonna make it 😭

I would just say don’t be worried and be sure to clean out your mouth really well after eating to prevent infection (like what happened to me)

Did they give you novocaine to numb your gums? And did it hurt? That’s like the only part I’m scared for😭😭😭 i literally hate seeing needles for gums
@AnnaKatherineYT
@AnnaKatherineYT 3 года назад
I’m not sure what the name of the drug was but I think it was some sort of local anesthesia. First they put a numbing gel on your gums so that the anesthesia shot doesn’t hurt as much. The actual shot is just a quick little pinch so don’t worry about it because it’s not bad at all. If they put enough numbing gel you might not even feel it at all!

@@AnnaKatherineYT thank you! I got that exact thing and it didn’t hurt very much tbh like u said because of the numbing gel they put before the anaesthesia :)

How was your experience?
@aweeklydoseofnina4199
@aweeklydoseofnina4199 3 года назад
@@candywilson3884 My experience was a little different. I have a large jaw cyst in my left jaw and they had to take a biopsy. Then I had a severely impacted tooth on the same side that I had a biopsy. So needless to say I had a lot of pain. I mean some nights I has extreme pain and pressure on my left side despite being on heavy pain pills. I had to get all 4 out. However, My left side, where the impacted tooth and biopsy was, was the only side that hurt. My right side didn't hurt. It did take 3 weeks on Narcotics and Ibuprofen for the pain to subside. However, since not all people have the problems I have, I don't think the pain should be that bad.
