This is what it was like to have wisdom tooth extraction under local anesthesia. I'm posting this video for people who are researching information about it before having it done. This is a description of my experience.

I had 3 wisdom teeth taken out, all under local. This was many years ago, and I don't remember having had any problems at all.

Hi. Look at Boo! I remember when you first found/rescued him, and began socializing him and finally welcoming him in with your other three cats 🐈‍⬛ 😊 Boo seems so happy and healthy and glad to be an indoor kitty. Glad you got your wisdom tooth pulled. We don’t need them anyway…back when we were Neanderthals, yes but now no. I had all 4 of mine pulled at once with just “novocaine”(actually Lidocaine, dentists don’t use Novocane anymore…I used to be a dental assistant back in the day:) Only one of my teeth were impacted, and only partially so it was relatively easy. I even went out to dinner later that night lol. Never heard of the tea bag thing but thanks, good to know. Glad you’re doing well and Boo is still so precious (as are all your babes🐈‍⬛ 🐈♥️)

It's funny around the time you had your wisdom tooth pulled I had mine pulled also. I had mine in February. I had the local anesthesia also. Just knowing that you're having a tooth yanked out of your head made me squeamish. I had no pain but alot of blood. I hope you and Boo and all the kitties are doing ok now 😻❤

Glad all went well, for both you and our indelicate friend Boo. I had a very similar experience when I had mine removed years ago. Any discomfort was immediately forgotten and supplanted by memories of the very good-looking oral surgeon. * sigh * I think it must be the tannic acids in the tea that help stop the bleeding.

I'm scheduled for a tooth extraction at the end of July. It's not a wisdom tooth (I don't want to be dumb LOL) I also chose local. Probably the worse is the waiting for the appointment. I've only had one other tooth removed and as you said you can feel the movement, wiggling, etc.

I had mine taken out via local anesthesia as well. Mine wasn't even showing at all but was pushing on the tooth next to it. I was worried about how he was going to get a tooth out that was not showing. The oral surgeon said I will have it out in two minutes, and he did. I was amazed. I don't mind feeling the pushing or pulling, I just don't want pain...lol. I am glad your procedure went well.

I had 2 of my Wisdom Teeth pulled @ once. They had 2 dig them out. I went under General Anesthesia.

I had all four wisdom teeth pulled at once. Very different experience. I was VERY glad for good painkillers, and slept for a few days, could eat only soft foods, use the bathroom, one out again. Ugh. -- So I'm very surprised you did so well, but that's a blessing. Soothing tea probably does help a lot. My memory includes how very weird it felt, hot or cold foods while the sites for the teeth felt so different, including temperature, from the rest of my mouth. I don/t recall how long it was before all bleeding stopped, but it took a day or so before it as done. -- Both you and Boo are so fortunate it ent well. Heh, Boo is a very good cat, a little bit of thug life still in there, but he/s mellowed a lot. It seems like he's giving the seven kittens (now grown) a lot of room, where he could've been really heavy-handed instead. Boo has a very good side to him. That he stayed around to guard Stella and the kittens for a whiles at least on the periphery before coming back in, then providing and protecting them, and that Stella could trust him for that, says a great deal for Boo's character, given how some male cats can be too aggressive, harmful. It/s interesting to me that many other male cats can instead be good cat dads and mates / husbands, including mentors for younger cats. I always enjoy seeing the cats and your insights are always worth it.

The roots of my wisdom teeth were so long and rounded, that they had all to be chiseled out between which took about 20 and 25 minutes whit all wisdom toots. Some time later was removed the last wisdom tooth. I was in so much pain with the last tooth that I before work got a bottle of vodka for rinse. As that didn't help, I have with the rest vodka flushed and then drank him. Then I was sent to the dentist who, despite the alcohol, gave me the local anesthetic and got rid of the last tooth. The chiseling and constantly penetrating with the hammer was a bit exhausting, especially since I noticed the crunching. But in the end I was happy and grateful, when also the last one was removed, because wisdom teeth hurt particularly when there is a certain lack of space. I was relieved once they all were out. When I think about it, little Boo must have been very brave, because I can imagine the removal of a wisdom tooth under local anesthesia in cats being hard. I also see that little Boo has grown up and is therefore a little calmer and shows more understanding for the cats. We wish the sweet heart all the best so that he may rest and recover well.

😱 A tooth extraction under local anesthesia? 💉 I hope that this little heart had with it not to big scared. 🙏🏻 How brave the little blackly head was. Boo, the little cute black head/Schwarzkopf. 💋 All the best for little lovable Boo. The little sweetie Boo heart. ♥🐈‍⬛♥ May he be after his wisdom tooth extraction recover very well. 💊 Now, however, he will hopefully be freed from further pain and will certainly have realized his salvation by now. Finally, according to the video, Boo visibly showed his gratitude and made it clear that he feels completely fine after the operation. It is a so great gift, to see how a so little animal shows his gratitude, reacts with so much affection and shows such great trust and thanks. 🤗 This little blackfur is just such a dear soul, that you can only grow fond of. When I had my wisdom teeth removed many years ago, the doctor gave me that tea bag tip as well and it did help cut the bleeding. He also recommended soup and, at that time, I only had lentil soup😮. You can guess how that went! At least you have a ton of sympathetic support from Mr Love Bug-a-Boo!

I had all of my wisdom teeth removed under local anesthesia when I was fresh outta highschool. For me it was lightwork, but yeah, definitely not for everybody

When I had my teeth pulled for implants, they pulled 17 with the local Lidacaine shots because I couldn't afford $1000 to be put under

I am fortunate enough to have a sister who is a dental hygienist and her doctor did them at almost cost, however, I am a clencher and a grinder, and I have broken my upper plate.

Any of my teeth that have had to be pulled were under local anesthetic and had no problems with them. My back teeth all came through decalcefied. The only healthy teeth I had pulled were my fangs due to needed room when I had to have braces on my teeth when I was 13. I miss my fangs they were longer than most people not quite as long compared to a cat. I am trying to get a dental appointment for myself but finding one who has a surgery room downstairs is hard. The only one that is has 3 months waiting list but my appointment keeps getting changed as the downstairs dental surgeon is only part time and will not share the room with anyone. I'm not in pain but with all my meds I would not. They work on dental pain but not dystonia. My seizures stopped now it's just the muscle spasms especially down my spine and right arm. Take care and hopefully you'll recover well. Boo you will be better soon no more tooth pain. Love, purrs, cuddles and kisses for all the cats

I'm thrilled your and Boo's procedures went so well. Mine did not go as painlessly or as quickly. Worse than the pain, for me, were the SOUNDS of the tooth being wrenched out of my jaw. Lots of crunchy cracking sounds, to not be too graphic. A couple years later, I had to have them all removed and be fitted for dentures. This time, I demanded to be be put under anesthesia, not wanting a repeat of the painful crunching. Hugs around!

I hate the sound of any dental visit so I always listen to music, a podcast, or an audiobook on headphones when I'm in the dental chair. It helps alot!

I need to get mine removed. I have a broken tooth at my top right as well but I think it’s just from slowly decaying since it’s so hard to brush back there. Anyway, I do not want to be put under and I can’t anyway due to my health conditions. I have a compromised airway, so if something were to happen in the middle of the procedure that would not be good. They mentioned being put halfway out meaning I’d still be breathing on my own. But I just don’t the idea of being on partial anesthesia. But they are causing a lot of pressure in my jaw/mouth and against my other teeth. I have a very small mouth as well so that does not help the matter…

If you need to get all four out, maybe you should do two at a time, first one side and then after that side has healed well, the other side. I think that would be easier than having all four out at once.

Thanks for the video!! Iv been avoiding getting my bottom two wisdom teeth out for years because of my anxiety, however I think I want to do it awake .. How long was your recovery? Did you end up having to take the antibiotics or no? 🙏 thank you

I had absolutely no pain during my recovery. I took antibiotics for a few days, but I don’t like how antibiotics make me feel so I stopped taking them. I followed the instructions that the dentist gave me regarding not eating anything crunchy for two weeks, and I think it took another two weeks before it was fully healed. The most challenging part was dealing with the bleeding after the extraction, and then babying that side of my mouth for the next few days to make sure it didn’t start bleeding again. It’s a good idea to stock up on lots of soft foods and soups and juices and beverages ahead of time and clear your schedule for the few days afterward just so you have time to rest and recover. It can be stressful.
