Ive been using SolidWorks since the late 1990's. I'm a Certified SolidWorks Associate and Professional. It's been nothing but a asset in my engineering career. I've used it for the simplest of designs to the extremely complicated designs. I'm now using the Makers version at home and loving it. Thanks for sharing! 👍👍✌️ Keep'em Sharp!
Congratulations, April! I've enjoyed watching your videos forever. You've certainly come a long way in a short time! From small projects like a fold-down table in your basement workspace, to building out your third full-size commercial shop into a fulfillment center! And in what? Just under a decade? I love it when good things happen to good people! Continued blessings to you!
It wasn’t too long ago you were in half of a one car garage excited about French cleats. Time, enthusiasm and one hell of a lot of hard work and look what can happen. Congratulations! What a great country that so routinely breeds the citizen entrepreneur. God bless this country and the great state of Texas.
Been watching this channel for about a year now. Enjoy your videos and personality. Makes me feel like I can tackle any job at the house. Thank you for a great channel and positivity you share through this channel.
Awesome. So proud of you April. That was very nice of you to do that for your parents. Respect... I am so happy for you getting another shop and so well deserved as you have worked so hard for all you have. God bless to you and your family and be safe out there 🙏
Totally awesome video! Finally, as a grown kid who helps out my parent - I totally respect and relate to the idea of being able to buy your folks a house. Can't wait to see what you do with the space. thanks for sharing.
Great idea. Although here in new Zealand you can get toilets as a p pan. Meaning that the plumbing can straight out the wall with the use of a pan connector and a dektight flashing. To them the pvc underground outside to the septic tank. However you will need to make sure the septic system can handle the increase in flow. Otherwise you can up with back flow problems
You should build some rolling stairs on casters. Something more substantial than a ladder, but easy to move for pulling stock from the top shelves. Something your mom can move, but will feel reasonably safe climbing up or down with merch. Structure out of lumber, with pipe hand rails. Use those spring casters on one side so it won’t roll when a person steps on it.
Congrats! And holy cow!...a battery-operated concrete saw?! And making room in that shop to pull-thru a trailer is genius! From watching these videos I can see you're such blessing to your friends and family. Thank you for sharing these videos, April.
April - Congrats to you and your parents on the purchase. Great video. Great ideas on how to approach the demo portion. Looking forward to watching the wiring episode. Have done a bit of this adding outlets in my garage, and the basement. Blessings to you, your family, and your crew. Take care for now.
Look up using "display states" for your solidworks. it allows you to save views with whatever items you want hidden, then its just a 1 click operation instead of having to hide and show each individual component each time. Might help save you some time going back and forth. looks awesome!
I pick the easy clean up EVERY time. It might take longer surgically demoing, but I hate, HATE cleaning up! And thank you for your comment about the insulation and keeping it away from the birds. Fiberglass is terrible out in the environment.
As a long-time subscriber from your first kitchen utensil organizer… This is the real, honest and frequently silly April we’ve loved through the years. Really appreciated seeing you being you in this video. Keep doing it… That’s why we keep coming back! And super congrats on the new place for Mom and Dad! Another milestone among many!
Great project April! Your parents are definitely proud of you! Looks like you have a nice plan laid out for the space. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out. Take care.
God surely blessed your parents with a wonderful daughter. Congratulations on the new shop! I can't think of anyone more deserving. You're truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing yet ANOTHER great video! Can't wait to see the finished product!
Great project April. Was great to meet you in person at Makers Central in England a few weeks ago (I was the guy who's postal code you borrowed to get in to the wifi!!!). Hope you had as great a show as I did.
I plan on being in TX during my kids spring break of 2023 to visit family in Duncanville, TX. Hopefully I can drive up to visit the woodshed and check it out, especially since I've been following your channel for quite a few years.
I loved seeing that picture of your parents! I know they must be so proud and happy. You are so flexible! We owned a karate school and we were always stretching and I never got as flexible as my husband. Was that a precious paw print in the concrete? I have been missing your videos. I know you are always busy!!!
Awesome April, you're my favorite maker channel o RU-vid, been watching you forever, so amazing to see your expansion, like many here mentioned. Greetings from Europe, sending best vibes and I hope you'll just keep going and going and going!!! You're a big inspiration.
@@AprilWilkerson Thanks for replying. I know you cant answer everyone who sends a message. Been watching you since your first video. Keep up the good work. When you and the crew come out to Cali again, I'll take you guys out for a drink.
You have been an inspiration for me to do so many different projects.... have you ever thought about doing workshops for the mere mortals just learning...
I would consider also using stands for pallets for the office and the topshelf. Changes in workflow over time is easier to meet that way. Make the cabinets forkliftready and they are easy to move.
Great project and space to work with. I love how you’re reusing all the dimensional lumber you can. I do that quite a bit myself (on top of salvaging large free pallets for projects) 🙂
Hey April, I just set up a warehouse. As you are setting up your shelving, think through how workers can safely put and retrieve goods up high. I settled on a stockpicker forklift (hyster r30rms). Tried a genie man lift (gr-15) first, but not safe enough for employees to use. Knowing how you are going to put stuff up and bing it down guides pallet rack spacing.
As satisfying as a finished product is, there’s nothing like demoing to release frustrations. 😂 I’ve enjoyed watching you, your channel and your business grow, but watching you genuinely enjoy ripping that carving room apart made me smile.
April your abilities are endless, been watching your videos for a long time. You have a way of explaining what your doing for everyone to understand. Your parents are truly Blessed!
Been watching your progress for years now. Watched as you progressed from a working spouse fixing up your home to a business owner that provides employment to others while still following your dreams. Best wishes for your future continuing success!
Just found your channel. Actually saw a insurance commercial then decided to search for you channel, anyways, I was in construction for 20+ years and recently started a different business but I think what you're doing is pretty badass.
Truly an inspiration. Love your vids and the fact that you are not scared to try ANYTHING!!!! If I ever manage my way to the US I will certainly visit Wilkerdo's.
That desk in the office might be a Leopold Desk. It could be worth some money. Pull open the middle drawer and look for a metal plate that is black with the logo on it. The feet should be round with metal caps on the bottom.
April, you make me tired just watching you ! April, Please becarful and watch you back. Don't want to hurt yourself. I know you are in Great Shape and you are always 😘Happy ! Take care of Yourself.😄🥰 Great to see you having Fun, Congrats on the New Shop !
It's awesome that you bought your parents a home!!, that's very, very cool. Congrats on your new shop. I can't wait to see it come together like you want it.
A sawzall with metal cutting blade and a flat pry bar makes easy work of cutting through nails and saving lumber without all the work and damage to the boards.
A reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade it great for demo. Just slice the nails off. However, you do end up with the occasional nail in the way when reusing the lumber.
Hi April. Next time you need a toilet in a remote place you might consider a Saniflow Upflush toilet. You're so savvy, you might even be able to get them to sponsor a video! Keep up the great work!
Congratulations on the new shop and also being able to buy a house for your parents! I know they must be very happy and very proud of you for being such a wonderful daughter...not to mention being a fantastic female role model and builder! I enjoy your channel and I'm looking forward to seeing more in this series. Take care!
Sawzall is a great demo tool as is the sledge. Good demo blade cuts through the nails and the lumber doesn't get split. Also like the dog paw print in the fresh concrete by thr the toilet flange!
@@AprilWilkerson Very true April but sometimes it works out another way. Parents buy home and 50 years later it becomes yours free and clear so that 30 to 40 years later it gets passed down to your kids. Stocks, bonds, cash and bling are not the only things we can invest in and watch our money grow. $1.00 invested in property in 1950 is worth how much in 2020? You may say that timing is everything but who knows that same dollar invest in property today will look like in 2070?
@@TheOneWhoMightBe Actually it was the house I saw first and knew it would be perfect for my folks and a bonus was it had this large shop on the property. So it was win-win but it was the house. :)
Lots of people don't do Instagram or Facebook so they just watch my Channel for new release of videos, and that's ok. This is why I put it across all formats. It's all good and I appreciate your watching.
