The First Fifteen lives.... is a great book, it does involve a very clever time travel theme. It's one of my favourites.

Oh I have a few really popular novels on my TBR set during WW2 - The Book Thief, All The light we can not see, Captain Correlli's Mandolin are the first 3 that come to mind.

I loved A Distant Melody. It was the book that made me fall in love with Sarah Sundin's writing.

I read the Boy on the Wooden Box earlier this year and loved it. I’m now re-reading it with my daughters. It is so good.

This is a great list! I really enjoy WWII books. One of my favorites you've already read - Salt to the Sea. Such a good book. And Between Shades of Gray is good too. If I own some WWII I haven't read yet I may join you and pick one up.

My husband and I just watched the show of We Were the Lucky Ones. There is a lot of content warnings for it, but it was so good. We loved it and I immediately bought the book.

The Kristy Cambron book displayed is very good. (I recommend The Ringmaster’s Wife by Kristy Cambron which doesn’t fit in your challenge this month. I recommend Our Darkest Night by Jennifer Robson (which is Ww2 as The Medallion by Cathy Golhke (ewhich I have never forgotten.

@@AlmasBookJourney looking forward to When the World Fell Silent by Donna Jones Alward (set in 1917 Halifax, Canada out in July, 2024). You can ask your public library to preorder the book now and then if the library buys it you will be the first person to read the book for free.

I “read” night when I was in high school for a class but I didn’t like to read at that time especially when it w as a mandatory read lol.

The Butterfly and the Violin is so good! I would love to join your buddy read! I have that book on my shelves but haven't read it yet. I don't think Night is middle grade. It's pretty heavy. I love that you have an annotated copy!

Yes, please join us in the buddy read! Someone commented that they read Night for high school so you are right not middle grade. Goodreads just says Read for school. I also saw that it is a trilogy. Have you read them all?

Yes!! I didn't notice it on my shelf until after I had already filmed! Good catch. Unbroken isn't really a book in the jar...so I think I will pick one that is. A book by Hazel Gaynor called When We Were Young & Brave.

I watched a couple of movies based on that time period. Summer of My German Soldier (which is a book) I watched when I was in grade school and loved that story. Then fast forward many years My husband and I went to see Schindler's List when it came out in theaters. We were living in Germany at the time, but they wouldn't play the movie there! So we went and saw the movie in Holland. You truly see how evil mankind can be and also how sacrificial mankind can be.

@@kristiacole Yes, he was in the Air Force. We lived in Germany for 3 years at the beginning of our marriage.
