Glad you're okay, dude. Looking at that bump and dip has me wondering how many of us really would have seen and avoided it...not many.

I dont understand exactly why that bump caused the crash.
@jazzzzzCat
@jazzzzzCat 2 года назад
@@joshmoore6165 He hit a bump before a dip in high enough speed to lift the front wheel in the air - and when it lands in the bottom of the dip the momentum is partly downwards so it's almost like crashing into a small wall.

@karljinman8050 8 месяцев назад
@@jazzzzzCatHmmm... I don't think it was the bump personally I've hit worse and been fine at high speed (UK roads lmao) What I did notice however was that their was gravel right where he came of, which is almost an instant fall due to the lack of grip it will cause! As a motorcyclist that's something I look out for and avoid due to the dangerous of it

Yeah it’s Road surfaces that catch people out,their handling has more in common with a motorcycle than a bicycle really. Unless you have some motorcycle exp and your already used to scanning the road surface and know what’s sketchy chances are they will fall off at some point. Watching this and seeing him braking heavily on the painted lines on a damp surface was giving me anxiety for example lol

Bumps, potholes, elevated path bricks are absolute nightmare and trap for small wheels, specially when you are not ready and ride relaxed. My first crash resulted in broken arm and elbow and torn abdomen tissue, and I crashed only at around 25+ kph, I did not skid, but instantly was slammed to the ground. I was wearing elbow/knee protection and thankfully full face helmet. It is scary to think what can happen if you crash at way higher speed or crash into some obstacle at that speed. Stay safe.

I hope your recovery was well! But I had a crash like this once, i was going around 24 mph and there was a bump in the road. I started to swerve a little until I realized I couldn’t save it. So I crashed over the curb into someone’s lawn. My helmet tore up a little grass, but I’ll glad I landed in the grass. Because not a single scratch on me, but my arm hurt. Turns out I had a tiny break So I know how scary this can be, and I know I’m a little late, but I hope your recovery was well, and I hope this never happens again to you, or anyone reading this right now. Be safe, be careful.

I recently rode my Varla Eagel One (which I purchased due to your review and update on the scooter) on my way to work going ~31 mph. The corner of my right handlebar hit an electrical unit box on the side of the rode; and I braced the crash with my hands. To make it worse, I got up and kept riding- then I crashed again due to an embedded crash on the rode. I did not realize it then; but my wrists were two different sizes- I went to the doctors to find I fractured my left wrist. Pro-tip: don't go 31 mph on a side walk!
@Roni-Kwang

What? Why were you going 31 on a sidewalk? Do your laws not allow riding on the street? At 31 mph you could have been (nearly) keeping up with traffic.

I had a similar crash my first day on my Emove Cruiser. There was a random spot in the street that caused a bump and then a dip which I didn't see coming in time. Scraped up both my hands and knees pretty bad and had a limp for a couple days after. Ever since I never skip putting on gloves, kneepads and a full face helmet. Some people look at me weird but it beats getting road rash.

Seeing as how you have a bunch of recent videos, I'm glad you're okay. This is exactly what I'm usually wary of when I take my scooter out on the streets. Yeah, I can control it well, off-road with it, do some mildly crazy stuff with it, but only when I EXPECT to do those things. With these small tires (compared to bikes), something small could cause a really bad crash when it's unexpected. As shown in your video, even if you saw that, I don't know if you would've done anything different, since it doesn't even look that bad.

Looked painful, glad no bones broken. I just wiped out on Saturday on my Hiboy Titan Pro, didn't quite make a turn sharp enough, and since I'm more used to a slower Segway, I did what I'd always do, jump off. Bad idea. Hit the ground superman style, and rolled. Just a bruise on my leg where I fell on my Tascam, but other than that and a sore shoulder, nothing. Lucky. hoping for a quick recovery and back to riding. One thing I consider in an electric scooter is good front suspension, my first scooter, a Zero 10, was really lacking in front suspension, on unfamiliar roads where you anticipate unexpected bumps, I put most of my weight on the rear leg, less weight in the front means the better chance for the front tire to "heave up" the bump rather than dig and make the scooter disappear underneath you. Downside is it puts a lot of weight on the heel and I developed plantar fasciitis from it. I upgraded my scooter and loving my Weped FF

I have a Hiboy S2 Pro scooter and I really have to be on the lookout for any kind of bumps or potholes because, with its solid tires, it can really be bone-jarring. I seldom ride it at full speed. I was wondering, did your helmet take a hit in that spill? I ashamedly admit that I seldom wear a helmet, but I also only ride on well-paved streets and I usually only go about 9mph, sometimes even slower. I don't use my scooter for commuting or anything serious - mostly just slowly going through neighborhoods and exploring paths while sightseeing.

That slide wasnt as bad as i thought. You've been lucky then if that were your worst crash. I crashed on a trail down hill anf got an under steering due to my tire slipped on the gravel at about 20 mph. I went just outside the trail and hit a stone that sent me flying through the air and rolled 3 times before i were able to stop. Banged up my hip, knee and hand. Luckily i didnt break any bones even though i swore i had. Could have been prevented if i didnt decide to be a daredevil that day. Got a lot more respect for the scooter now. They're not really meant for high speeds even though they can go really fast. Stay safe.

Speed. Lack of anticipation to the bump. Maybe a slightly bouncy tire. I've hit worse on Xiaomi M365 but the scoot is limited to like 18MPH and I had bent the knees preparing for it. He just got caught out at higher speed. Could happen to anyone. Going slower gives you more time though.

Such a luck you weren't going full speed at the time. Used to riding my e-MTB, I honestly don't see any bump at all. I am sure ive done this before, and it didnt stop me before, but this time, it slowed me down fast enuf that pretty much the same thing that happened to u, happened to me. I broke my right collarbone, and my left arm, and shattered my left ankle!! It actually happened just over 2 months ago, i am all healed other then the ankle, i got the cast off 2 weeks ago, but still use crutches, I can take a few steps until the pain is too much. I would absolutely be dead if i didnt have my helmet on, i was wearing one of my dirtbike helmets, with a full face, luckily!! Stay safe out there. I had my first crash today after only a month of riding . It was late and I had 3 glasses of scotch , I hit a curb while crossing a road on the designated crossing area ..

The smaller the tire, the more small obstacles affect it. This is why electric scooters are so dangerous. Not only that, but alot of riders think they can scoot wherever they want and put other people at risk. I am glad you are OK though and good thing you were wearing a helmet.

I 100% agree, I'm a motorcyclist at heart and in the process of doing my licence, been riding for 4 years, but decided to get an electric scooter for means of transportation, have had it for just over a day now, and at 25mph it's so damn bloody unstable! And people think motorcycles are dangerous XD Those scooter make motorcycles look so safe your untouchable (wishfall thinking tho, as I have had a bad motorcycle accident, but.... It's life :P)

Glad you are doing well. Funny thing is the cyclists have been going over this dip with no incident. Speaks to the vulnerability of wheels smaller than 20 inches in diameter. (I base this on two bikes I have a roadbike with 27 inches and a folder with 20 inches. Even w 20 inch wheels the folder has to be more careful going over dips)
