Acoustic August continues with a look at my first "nice" acoustic guitar, my Yamaha APX1200ii in natural. This is a 2015 guitar I bought ex-display for a huge discount, while I was actually out Telecaster-shopping with my friend Rich (he did get his Tele)! Stock but for Grover tuners, you're hearing it through mics and through a Grace Design Alix preamp.

Love the video, thx Martin! Got a few questions for ya, is there a tuner on that guitar? Also, the bridge, is it compensated or is it just straight across like my apx 500?

There's a built-in tuner, seems pretty accurate too. There is some compensation in the bridge saddle, the B string particularly. I've certainly not found any significant issues with intonation.

Hi Martin, I am looking for a small bodied acoustic guitar. I have lots of guitars and of late I find that I like small ones to play on the couch - but anyway I found these Yamha's APX 600, 700 and 1200. Thank for the video

Nice. Yeah, I love the APX body shape in terms of comfort to play. I’m an electric player, so find huge dreadnought or jumbo boxes quite awkward

They're generally around the £1400 / €1500 area. I got this for a great deal in Hong Kong, so paid maybe 60% of that.

Are the nut width of apx 1200 natural and black a bit different?

no they should be the same

According to “sweet water” the nut width of the natural colour is 1.692 on the other hand, the black one is 1.6875. Their scale length is a bit different too. The natural coloured one’s scale length is 25.5 whereas the black coloured one’s is 25.6 inches

@@masudmahmud3123 That contradicts what Yamaha themselves say. Nut width is 43mm (1 11/16" - 1.6875") and scale length is 650mm (25 9/16" - 25.5625") for both. They're just bad conversions from metric on Sweetwater.
