Yup, carbon draws water and Zippos aren't airtight or waterproof, just like charcoal for a grill or char cloth for firemaking

Nice ! Glad u found the channel. Keeping the wick more saturated is a way better zippo experience. Lites first time every time and the bag trick also keeps your insert from riding up when u open it

@@Zippofanatic77outdoors ok I’ll look for it, i wander how long zippo will continue to use inferior products if you want to call it that because they are pretty good at giving their customers what they like, I have heard case knives which is owned by zippo now I believe has switched to a different steel in some of there blades because they can’t get the stuff they normally use but they didn’t just switch steel and not tell anybody they are marketing it as a different product so I kinda wander why zippo didn’t do something similar with the inserts

@@tripleoughtstoll8690 so you’ve noticed the steel inserts are weaker also. I noticed the chimney bends like nothing now. Glad the majority of my collection are vintage

@@Zippofanatic77outdoors I only have a couple from the mid to early 20 teens so I couldn’t compare old to new but I’m not sure I want to order new but I might have to to to compare my 2011 to a new one
