I have one pocket watch and chain. I haven't worn it, but may do so in the near future. When my father was very young, in the late 1930s, he's was run over by a truck which broke his back. He was placed in traction for months and wasn't allowed to move. The doctors said he would never walk again. However his mother didn't agree and prayed many prayers and sprinkled him with waters from Lourdes. He did walk again and lived until a few years ago. His grandfather stayed with him as he was in traction and used the watch and chain to distract my father in his pain. It is very special. I hope to wear it soon. Thanks for the video!

Been wearing a pocketwatch daily for over a decade. I wear a double-albert 80% of the time, and a ring-clip chain (for use with jeans/shorts/slacks watch-pocket & belt-loop) the other 20% of the time. Bought my first, antique fob-drop chain recently, for more casual wear.

My grandfathers gold Elgin 8-sided pocket watch. It did not have a chain bit I found a very nice one on a shop on Royale Street in New Orleans.

There is a fob style that uses the mesh style or articulated plate similar to that in this video, but clips to the pocket and has a short chain that clips to the watch, so the watch is withdrawn while the fob remains at the vest pocket. These usually have a sealing wax stamp as a gem at the bottom. Remember that in the 1920’s how you dressed said a lot about you. Such as level of education, military service, social standing, likely profession and your status within that profession. Subtle things said a lot, such as what knot you tied in your tie and the number of cuff buttons on your jacket and whether you are wearing a day jacket for evening socializing and whether thats casual or formal.

As a teddyboy I wear my chain lower more central on the waistcoat so the drops are deeper

Hi I have three favourite watch fobs The first is the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland with his brolly tucked under his arm, wearing a waistcoat and looking at his pocket watch. The second is a cast metal lozenge with a rune I got in Germany. The rune represents both initials of my forename and surname. The third is a pair of skeletons in the " missionary position. Very clever as it works front and back.

i use a single albert if i an wearing no waist coat or if i am wearing waist coat and maybe casual jacket . if its the later i have a 3" ebony and brass snuff bottle on the free end, these chains carry one of my post ww2 watches. for a suit i wear a double albert, on one end either one of my pre 1900 key watches or pre ww2 crown wind watches. if its a key watch, the other end has the keys plus a fob for weight, if its a crown then the other end has either a military stop watch or a vintage wolsey volt tester. in the middle of the chain i have either a gold and onyx fob on the gold chain or a rose wood and silver 2" snuff bottle. i never wear a wrist watch as of the 10 i have owned every one has died or run erratic within weeks regardless of remedies, and if your going to wear a pocket watch you may as well make it tastefully statement.

Actually, some fobs do attach to the waistcoat, with a clip that attaches to the pocket and a short chain just long enough to withdraw the watch and hold it in your hand. I wear one of those almost daily, except when I'm wearing my Argyle kilt jacket waistcoat, as the tweed fabric is too thick for the clip.

Hi, there is another one called a fulcrum albert. It seems to have a weighted disc that balances the vertical chain from sagging. Do you put the disc through the vest hole to pull the chain vertical, then slide back with the t-bar that is also on the chain?

I Usually wear a belt chain (as I usually wear a leather pocket watch holster on my belt), but if I am wearing a Waist coat I usually go with a Single Albert with a Fob.

I have a modern replica of a pocket watch. It has a belt clip chain with key ring

I have two pocket watches and three single Albert chains. I first got my pocket watch as a gift from my grandma after I graduated from high school. When I first wore it on my vest, the chain was too long and the hook was made, intended to wear it on one side of trousers. Years later, I bought a vintage pocket watch with a single Albert chain. When I saw it, the opening caps and screws on both sides were damaged. So, I didn't wear it. Yet, I continue to wear the watch she gave me, but got myself a new single Albert chain, which was vintage gold and customized with a two stone ornament. The 1st stone on one side of the ornament was black onyx and the 2nd on the other side was an antique jade green stone. I liked the chain with the two stone sided ornament because the two stones matched two of my cufflinks and two of my tie clips I personally have in my wardrobe. The only problem with wearing one with a formal vest, like the low cut pique vest that is consisted from a white tie ensemble and that I bought recently, is that the vests' pockets are faux pockets(not real ones that white tie traditionally requires for confidence) and it irritates me.
