"condemnation" means nothing, that word has been throwing around like bullets but means nothing. They need help like actual "help". I don't understand what the UN can do but, the Burmese need help. I would think when bodies started dropping they would take extreme measures/actions. but no...just condemnation.
The United Nations can always send the blue helmets, which are armed peacekeeping forces, but that requires the permission of the Security Council. And in this council the permanent members have veto power. These permanent members are; the United States of America, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the French Republic, the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. So you need all five of these people to agree.

when I heard the ambassador of Myamar I had tears in my eyes. Knowing that this man speaks against windmills in the UN. And put his life in danger with his speech. Unfortunately the UN has degenerated into a toothless paper tiger, who only represents the economic interests of the USA. And unfortunately myamar has no oil.
China wants to move fast to complete its projects in Myanmar. The more they wait, the more their projects are likely to stalled and face competition in Myanmar. Therefore, they will do anything to support their friends in power to complete their projects. It is all about "China's first strategy!". China heavily involved in Myanmar's internal affairs while kept saying other countries to stay out of Myanmar's internal affairs. Whether it is china's zero-dollar tourism or their heavy investments in Myanmar, they don't usually support the local Burmese economy. Chinese firms will usually come in with their supply chains, directly tied to their own Chinese companies. Furthermore, they will come to Myanmar with their Chinese managers and never share their knowledge with the Burmese. As a result, local Burmese people gain no experience to move up in the future.
@@ms.gregoria2249 Recent coup in Myanmar, in my humble opinion, the coups around the world today are totally different from the coups which took place half a century earlier when newly independent nations, including Burma, just came out of centuries-long Colonialism, bitter and poverty-stricken, turned to a new deal of Social-Democratic system (Socialism/Communism). On the other hand, today's coups in countries such as Thailand, Philippines, South Korea and some in Africa, are change in political system only, while economic system are mostly left intact.

These 'local populace' that are used by the West or sided with the West, in the conflict/crisis/war, and when they are needed to be evacuated for one reason or the other, then the West will raise the issue about 'refugees'. This has been the case throughout history wherever the conflict the West is involved in. In fact, there were tens of millions of refugees here in the USA & other Western nations that the West brings in throughout history, past and present. Finally, Myanmar has had no politics for over two generations; so it's new for people there, young and old alike. In other words, it's easy to get fooled by the Capitalist Imperialist trick. Here in USA, the so-called 'Politics' is a little more than a 'Window Dressing' (mainly used by the wealthiest Capitalist/ the One Percent elite who are 'The Power That Be'/ the real ruler of the land), while 'Politicians' are merely 'Poster Boys' put it out as part of Democracy.
