Myford Accessories - Part #4. In this video I show some of the large amount of accessories and spare parts that are available for Myford Lathes. One of these accessories gets a special mention - the Myford Oil Gun. In my Workshop I show which types of oil to use and after a brief return to the Myford Factory Workshop (to show some of the "in house" machine tools), the video concludes with a slide show featuring Myford Lathes which were currently for sale when we were filming.

My ml7 has the serial k2524 which makes its one of the first of the ml7s

An important thing, is knowing the difference between an OIL fitting and a GREASE fitting, they are very similar in appearance. A grease fitting "can" substitute for an oil fitting, but not the opposite. I at one time worked with Heidelberg platen printing equipment. Some fool had pumped the oil fittings full of grease on a machine I was using, causing it to malfunction. It took the better part of a day to clean up the mess. Grease is for bearing surfaces, oil is for SLIDING surfaces and bearing surfaces. When you first ran the video about "oil guns" I was not aware of the Myford and suggested finding a Heidelberg. It is of much higher quality.

Thanks for showing the series Keith. As you know i have the Super 7B with all the whistles. It seems some do not like the Myford for there own reasons & maybe because they do not own one. I do & will not be changing it. I have done many video's of the modifications i have done to it. A few more to come. Keep up the good work. P.S We are going to Emely's 21st soon. Where have all the years gone. Stay well. Regards. Steve.

I bagged a Super 7 a couple of months back and it has never been used. It has been kept covered in way oil and is in as new condition. Can't decide whether to start using it or keep it as it is. Thank you for the series, it is very interesting.

I still see used Myfords for sale on a regular basis here in Canada, they must have sold quite a few of them here.

Thanks for all the videos. You don't show how you manage to lubricate the oil nipple on the back of the clutch countershaft, or is this only a problem on the Super 7 ?

I don't see any on mine, just a couple of regular oil cups at each side.

@@keithappleton Sorry, I misled you; the oil nipple I cannot get to with the oil gun is inside the outer pulley on the main spindle, not the clutch shaft.

ESSO NUTO .. now that deserves a joke for sure ... head stock oil with a name of nut oh ... perhaps a crazy head stock joke .. or an ex girlfriend joke etc ... . personally I enjoyed the video series ... makes me wish I could afford one of these lathes ... but on my meager fixed income that is not in the cards .... unless they want to send me one for free ;) ... I wont be holding my breath for that though ...
