🧿I have always wanted to go to Mykonos but was told numerous time that I wouldn’t enjoy it as it’s an expensive party island for the young and model type influencers which really annoyed me! Well… although our short trip didn't involve beach parties this time, we never once felt out of place - it's beautiful and i'd go back in flash!!🧿
Day 2 🧿 Mykonos Greece 31st August 2023🧿
We are loving our chilled mornings at our hotel, getting up for a late breakfast then heading into town by noon. The views from our hotel (Marisso Hotel) are so beautiful - drinking coffee while watching the town come alive is perfect.
Today we decided to head inland to a village called Ano mera on the bus which was just around a 15 minute ride away from the town.
Ano Mera is a small traditional village in the middle of the island which centres around a square with restaurants and an old church and monastery.
We spent a few hours here and had the most amazing meze meal of all things Greek - Tzatziki, Fava, Melitzanosalata, Sardines, Dolmades & pita!
We headed back to to town and then to our hotel until it was time to get ready for a sunset ritual party at the (blow your budget) 180 Sunset bar above Mykonos town…
We booked the ‘cheaper’ seats which were €70 minimum spend per person and we sat on the steps. We found it very comfortable seated on cushions and we had a large table in-front of us.
They offer numerous seating and view options that go up to €250 minimum spend per person and these different areas are cordoned off.
We booked for 7pm with sunset at 7.50pm.
We were hoping we would be seated on the steps next to the DJ and dance floor but we were seated in a separate area to the right of the main area - we could hear the music but couldn’t see the dancers. In each area were a few members of staff who regularly topped up our water and took orders of cocktails and food etc they were all very friendly and chatty.
An example of pricing… bottle of water €10, cocktails were €25, wine €15, beer €15 with the option to purchase bottles.
The food looked lovely and we chose to share a €60 vegetarian meze - it looked beautiful but we found it a bit bland and very expensive for what we received.
As the sun was setting, the music played was very chilled with classical music.
Afterwards, the DJ ramped things up and everyone got on the dance floor.
The walk up was steep and hard going and on the way down I had to go bare foot to stop me slipping!
We had a drink in town then headed back to our hotel to sit on our balcony watching strobe lights from the bars and fireworks going off
