Myles O'Reilly performs Point of Disgust, written by Mimi Parker and Low, on Sessions From Oblivion broadcast on RTE 2XM.
"There are periods of life, as expressed so beautifully by the late Mimi Parker of 'Low' in this, her song Point Of Disgust, where we walk in to a sadness, or unconsciously walk away from what makes us happy but "Mercy me. It never lasts" . We keep walking and eventually circle back. In our sights "like a vision, like a light" we walk out of the fog and return to clarity and the understanding of what makes us happy.
It's such an important message, that through perseverance, we grow and process life without letting the downs (and there will always be downs) affect our spirit and morale. Getting through hard patches, make us stronger.
It has been exactly a year since I found my singing voice again. When I summoned the motivation to get up off my knees, I continued on a journey back to the one form of expression that truly makes this buchal the happiest.. Thank you Low and the late great Mimi Parker for this song I clung to through years of silence. Thank you also to everyone who has been listening to my songs this past year, buying the records and going to the gigs. I am so very grateful for that connection. Massive thanks due to the excellent Sessions From Oblivion for having me perform on their show, and my manager @louisebarker for generally being such a supportive legend 🙏 " - Myles

There are not many people that can put as much feeling and emotion into their voice and performances as you. That coupled with your beautiful ambient scores and music, you have such a powerful presence which I find tremendously comforting and awe inspiring. Thank you for what you do Myles

Wow, Myles! What a beautiful performance. For some reason I wanna call it brave, even though I don’t mean to imply it was in any way forced or shaky. So, it’s not that you had to be brave and power through but rather I feel braver and at the same time calmer after listening to you sing. Thank you so much for that!

It's the committment that gets me. I'm wondering if committed would be the word instead of brave, to describe it? I get the brave and calm thing too though! Beautiful and moving whatever!

Wow that's a lovely vibrato and tone you've got there. I love that fast folky vibrato sound.

gorgeous vocals ❤ Please tell me, you often sing sitting down. Is this purposeful? Is there an "effect" you gain to your vocals sitting? Is singing standing a different experience? I find it difficult to sing sitting... I love your voice and the control you have, thank you, J 😊

Thank u Josephine. I do like my diaphragm closer to the ground. It feels better when I sing but I don't think my voice gains from sitting.
