I happened to meet His highness in a book release festival.. Very down to earth personality. These rituals are a part of Mysore dussera festivities and not an everyday thing. In fact, he lives a simple life relative to his status.

Actually, that throne and Ambaari belongs to Vijayanagara empire. Mysore Dynasty also have the curse of Alamelamma. Even after independence, Hampi is not restored and Dushera is not being celebrated nar Mahanavami Dibba since last 500 years. Hampi is believed to be the first place where Dushera was celebrated. It is also kishkindha, the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. Still many Ramayana era places where temples are built are in ruins. Now, Hampi is a world heritage site where tourists can just take photos but not restore temples. Hope, Hampi is restored back to its glory and Dushera can be celebrated once again at Mahanavami dibba after a long period of 500 years. #Restorehampi

Do you know an interesting fact...Mysore Odeyar king was a great friend of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. That's why Aurangzeb never attacked Mysore. In fact he sent huge gifts to the king and gave the title JAGADGEER to Mysore king.
There is no king ruling after 1947 August 15th onwards, it's family rituals performed during navaratri 9 days, it's celebration and allowed public to see. Since it's culture of past hindu king family, culture retained to showcase to next generation.

Shri Yaduveer Wadeyar shown here celebrates Dasara festival in the royal family traditional.way. only in this period does he wear the royal attire and go through the Court ritual and traditional worshipping of Devi Chamunseswqri. In fact now these are part of the Dasara tourist attractions. People like anywhere in the country, continue to address the scions of erstwhile royal families as Prince / princess / king and queen.
