could you share more information as to how you hooked it up and what settings you used in the radio? I just got mine in and can't seem to get it work right with my FT-891
The two first things I would check is if your computer sees the interface, if you're running Windows you should have a new com port, after that I would check that the baud rate is the same on both the radio and the software. I have never used an 891, so I couldn't tell you exactly where in the settings on the radio you find the baud rate.
Hello, is there any way you could do a step by step tutorial video how to connect radio to this interface and what kind of settings do you chose to make it work? im really struggling connecting mine 897d... 73
I could look into that, although I don’t know when or if I will have the video finished. My first thoughts on what you very briefly explain is either a com port or baud rate issue. You need to have the correct com port and the same baud rate on the computer and the radio. I have never used an 897 though.
Hello bro! Recently buy for my old Icom 706. So far I have dismantled this box and found several switches on the board - PTT range (HF-UV) and JP3 CW-PSK mode. What are they for? And hello to you from Russia, probably your subscriber from my only country.
Hi there, and thanks for commenting. I haven't taken my box apart since I made part 2 of this video, but I looked at it again, and the UV5 Link for Yaesu does not have these switches. So honestly, I don't know. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pikqpup8oyE.html
Depends on the tuner, but you can not connect the tuner to the CAT port on the radio. I use two tuners with the FT-817. The tuner in my Hardrock-50 amplifier tunes by RF-sensing, so that works fine. And with my Elecraft tuner I just press the tune button and transmit a carrier. Not as smooth, but a good workaround.
Hi, great videos, I am trying to help out another ham on the groups io, That has one of these and a ft817, He can not get the cat control to work, Can you please tell me how many comports does this interface use in windows, Thanks for your help Dave 2E0DMB
Thanks for commenting. Unfortunately I don’t have neither that radio nor the interface anymore. I remember that it was somewhat of a hassle to set up, but I used a RU-vid video as help as far as I remember.
73 alain f8feo
@@LB0FI sorry I have one that is still in the closet: thank you for the advice that I will apply because I have not managed to transmit and figure with wsjtx until now and moreover I have no manual. The manufacturer is however serious because I had a small transmitter SW3B with its manual in English.
The box is actually really simple, it’s an FTDI chip for the USB to serial adapter, and a pass through for audio. So you will still need a soundcard. Thanks for commenting!
