Great video Loch Ness Garage. Very Helpful! Saw A couple people on here searching for the part numbers so I figured I would Share. This is what I used when performing the repair shown in the video. Fel-Pro 36068 Water transfer pipe O-ring Fel-Pro 36122 Thermosat Housing Seal. Thermostat housing to Engine block. (The seal that fits in the rectangular groove in the Thermostat housing assembly) Napa Balkamp SS1801647 Thermosat OE temp 180 degree. With seal. Safety stat style.
wow! good job, good video . Mechanics deserve their pay for sure. About the heater hoses spewing all over .. a kitty litter pan or two ..3 or 4 buckets maybe
I wish I had found this video yesterday before I took my intake off looking for what I believe is the same leak. My Bad. Awesome video! I now know what I need to do next!
I have a 2011 chevy hhr just had water pump replaced in March 2021 my started doing the same thing dripping on the back side of transmission pan when coolant cool down around 70%. Vehicle did not leak for four days until i did not work Saturday then it leak around 6pm added more coolant has not leak yet and now it is wednesday. Could this be reason o ring
Hey man great vid! I will adbsikuteky be using this for reference and help! Probably don’t but do you happen to remember if this was throwing any codes or just the coolant?
Funny, my cheap scan tool never mentioned anything about a P0118 temp sensor fail high! On my 07 Pontiac G5. Torque pro app pointed out this issue for me! However, the sensor operated just fine displaying the correct temp on the dash!!! I just changed it anyways!!!
Thanks, but you must use a pointer stick, like a blackboard pointer...so people know precisely which part you are talking about. I know ... but so many others don't. nice camarawork.
I need to know the thermostat housing is where that pipe connects so once i take that off does the pipe that has the o ring just comes out like that cause u did not explain it exac tly I have to do the same thing I keep getting the runaround ,mine is leaking badly I was told it would cost 2 thousand cause the manifold has to come out and a bunch of other things that are in the way but u showed what looks like to be a simpler way ,is there a o ring kit for this u did not say I need ti know I donot have 2 thousand in my pocket I have done evrything that this car has had a problem with inner tie rod outter tie rod control arms ball joints rotors mastercylinder transmission module ,please I am tired of spending my weekend wprking on hhr this is my last problem that i put off since i was told by chevorlet how the job was to be done you are my only hope ,not a certefied mechanic but if u can give me the the right info I know I can do this thank you Tired wannabe mechanic JRo
Did you work on your vehicle yet? I am about to start the same thing as my transfer pipe is leaking. Shop wants 900$, I plan to do the work instead. I assumed the pipe was just a loose fit sealed by orings and held in by the thermostat housing. Can you confirm if you have done the work already. Thanks
The whole design of the HHR is a piece of 💩, poor engineering! Hand to replace the heater core on one of these vehicles and it was a nightmare. Had to remove the entire dash, console, electrical connectors (approx. 25+) front seats, panels, about 80 tiny screws and 20 nuts ect.ect. As a mechanic this is on top of my least as being one of the worse vehicles to work on! 🤬...I will never again replace a heater core on a HHR! It just does not pay to do such a tedious and intense job!
Thanks for the Vid. Deff will be helpful in the future for my 08. Im having issues at the moment with the temp. gauge not reading and due to this, my A/C isnt working.Ill be replacing the thermostat and thermo sensor at the same time. Ive been able to get by with the OBII Scanner to reset (Code 78)and temp gauge comes back up to turn A/C back on.Ive had a small Antifreeze leak that I havent been able to find, so this may be it.Thanks
😁 hated working on my hhr and so glad I never had to do the thermostat on it. I have an ion with a 2.2 ecotec as well but its a stick shift so you can get to the outlet pipe from the bottom without an big shitty automatic transmission in the way. no matter what though the manifold is in the way and is a bitch to get that top bolt. should have left the cussing and bitching in the video so people know what they are really getting into.
