I love it! My fav is the kitty giving a cookie to the monster flower 😻 and I'm also an HSP, school wasn't my fav place, or well... I did enjoy studying, but I was severely bullied so I didn't like going to school because of that. Arts class was my fav place ever, there I was safe 💜. I was kinda the "loner", spent most of the time alone, didn't make super closer friends back then and I always either was drawing something or reading books during the breaks. Later I started to listen to music to block out the people and build my little bubble. I still do paint and draw, do different crafts but as a hobby. For me they're more like therapeutic outlet and I love to see other people's art too, it inspires me so, so much! 💜

I wished I had more like minded people like you around when I was younger. I totally understand being drained by the social and physical aspects of school. It definitely made it difficult to maintain connections. And to have such inspirational experiences to encourage you to pursue an art career sounds amazing. I just want to say what an inspiration you and your art has been over the years. I'm always super happy to see the notification for your uploads so thank you so much for your hard work 😊 I'm also super excited about the promt list. After years of art block I feel like I'm ready to just back in again!

If you are HSP, than you maybe want to look into autism. There is a lot of overlap and as an diagnosed autistic person I can relate a lot to your story ^^

I went to comment section with the same type of recommendation. Also to be mentioned that RAADS-R was certified officially as legit self-diagnostic test so it gives pretty accurate results. It can be not only autism but also ADHD share similar traits.

'I'm super tired & in pain so I closed my eyes & listening to your soothing voice before you started coloring.When I opened my eyes I saw magic!!! It reminds me of the detailed works of art I loved so much as a little girl. Oh my stars! I just noticed the kitties are in uniform! The purples browns & green go so well together. I never enjoyed coloring books or pages, but I'd want to do a pastel version of this with cool toned bluish purple on the cats & a pink carpet. I've never drawn a scene before, but I'd love it if you'd allow a draw this in your style of this artwork. Ithink I'll still use spell as in spelling as it fits so well with the school theme. I can already picture cats at the chalkboard or in a spelling bee

When you talked about your sensitivity issues, anxiety and shyness, that really made me think about ASD. ASD in women/girls can look a bit different than the idea we have of "typical autism", with more sensory issues and anxiety, and sometimes more masking/camouflage in social context as well. I've noticed lately that there's a lot of people with ASD and/or ADHD in the creative RU-vid world, or at least in the channels that I watch ! It is possible to have sensory issues without ASD though, I'm just a random person on the Internet sharing some thoughts. Your highschool sounds like a dream, I would have loved to do art stuff, but my small private school didn't have an art major to choose ! It still was a nice school compared to the public ones at least. I did science instead and it was ok, some interesting stuff, but a lot of work and brainache. Your illustration is gorgeous !

I never really had a good school experience until a chance encounter with my best friend in the mid 00's. I was a loner with few friends until yr 10... 14 I believe? (I had undiagnosed autism, we never knew but I loved my loner life and still do) My tutor forced us to take an enrichment (an after school activity) and I just so happened to see a Japanese club and I was balls deep in anime so I decided to go. Met my best friend and her friends who were in the year below me and it made school more bareable and I had reason to get excited to go. Our friend group stayed on for college so we were together another 3 yrs and we all went to different uni's and made many more friends.

Since many have commented that HSP is autism: HSP and ASD is not the same. HSPs are not a clinical condition but a personality trait, while Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder with specific diagnostic criteria. HSPs: Defined by sensory processing sensitivity, affecting 15-20% of the population, leading to deep emotional and sensory responses Autism: Involves neurobiological conditions with social deficits, communication issues, and repetitive behaviors I am no expert at all, the information above is found on google so that I can better explain the differences

That story about printing your coloring pages and giving them to your class mates really melted my heart! ❤️ Thank you for this video, I came back through my memories to my school years. I loved drawing and painting, but I was never good at it. Or I though so. So I didn't apply to any art school and since then, I slowly stopped creating anything. Now with 2 little kids, there is no time...

My kids are adults now, but maybe you could try creating a little art space for yourself & your kids, and you can draw together. I would set aside an afternoon every week where we would do art together. The neighbours kids would come over and we all created together. I got my art fix and the kids enjoyed colouring in my drawings. But my biggest tip is please take some ‘me’ time, it’s so important. ❤️🇦🇺

@@MissChelle Thank you very much for your tip! They are really young, 2 and 4 yo. Older daughter doesn't like drawing and creating that much, she can stay focused like 5-10 minutes. 😄 And younger son just needs to try everything and "ruins" everything. Nowadays, we spent a lot of time outside, before winter hits. I know about importance of me time, but I still strugle a lot finding it. I had some when I had one child, but with 2, it's almost impossible...

Sounds like you had a great school for art. Ours wasn't that good - the people who picked art as a GCSE were frustrated that everything they did had to be in the style of another artist rather than their own unique work. If they couldn't list some other artist as the inspiration for a piece, they couldn't include the piece in their portfolio. A friend of mine spent ages working on a mixed media sculpture/painting which was really epic, but right before submission was told they couldn't use it as it was too unique. They had like a fortnight to create something else before they got examined on it. Nice of the art teacher to wait that long to tell them it wasn't suitable. Also our art options were drawing or painting basically. The school did have its own kiln, but they decided it was too expensive to heat it, so stopped doing pottery pretty quickly, so the building just sat there not being used. The lessons for lower years were basically "draw and shade these objects" and that was about it for instruction. I tried asking how a few times and the teacher would show how to move the pencil to make shadow. No help with where it was meant to go or why it went there (I have difficulty seeing an object as an object when you add shadow, so that probably didn't help). Drew an apple, a bottle and a rabbit which we then had to sculpt, but the firing failed so I ended up with nothing to paint. That was the extent of whst I got to do for art at secondary school. Primary school it was "here's some things to stick together, here's this specific thing to paint". Never got taught how to take ideas from my brain & put them on paper. I can colour in colouring books though. That's the limit of my artistic skills.

HSP is just the term a bunch of rich women came up with for what are 100% autistic traits when they didn't want to admit their kids or themselves were autistic. Like every single one is part of the diagnostic criteria for autism. I wish more people knew this so they could find actual help rather than just getting a "highly sensitive person" self label and zero help or community.

@skyweli

@@Kattvalk Her comment is way too agressive but she's not wrong. I France where I live, there has been a "trend" of therapists diagnosing people with hypersensitivy or high potential, and then puting a lot of symptoms on that diagnosis. The thing is, those syndroms (like HSP) were never fully recognized scientifically, like a lot of other "personnality tests" kind of thing. And symptoms like social anxiety or sensory issues, do fall on the ASD or sometimes ADHD list of symptoms. That doesn't mean that the description of HSP isn't accurate to what women like us live ; it just means that the name of the diagnosis isn't correct. In fact, HSP isn't a real diagnosis (in France at least). But we have a lot of french therapists that invested this concept, like Jeanne Siaud-Facchin, and who made a lot of money selling expensive diagnosis and lots of books and conference, without acutally providing any of the therapies or medical help a person with these symptoms might need. It also doesn't help that our society has a very strong negative bias on autism. I was first "diagnosed" with High potential and HSP as a teen, which wasn't helpful because, what is there to do about it ? It's not an illness nor a disability. It's not actually supposed to affect your life degatively. Turns out, I have autism and ADHD, and I STRUGGLED to get a proper diagnosis. Going through school life with an invisible disability was really tough on me and I do not wish that to anybody else. Ultimately none of us know you enough to say if you have this or that, but HSP is in fact not recognized as a real thing by the authorities like the DSM 5. There are a LOT of personnality test things online that thrive of the search people like us do to understand ourselves better. So while I wish the comment from Alexa wasn't so brutal, I understand the frustration of these theories thriving, while the real informations are still hard to get. It is very likely that the description of this HSP thing might explain some of the things you went through, and at the end of the day, if you are not affected negatively in your life then there is not reason to bother more than this. Just keep in mind that while there is a lot of litterature on the whole HSP or High potential thing (both tend to be associated together), that doesn't mean that those books and studies are accepted by the general scientific and medical world. Also a lot more has been discovered about autism these last few years, that brings new answers to the problems HSP was tackling. The HSP theory was very valid at its time, but psychology and psychiatry kept evolving, and the HSP theory is now mostly outdated. But it still has a lot of "followers", including sometimes people who really don't want to be associated with a disability. And yes, including parents who will get very mad when they are told that their kid who has "high potential" is in fact autistic. Both are not mutually exclusive, but (in France at least) there are people who will never accept that them, or their kids, have a mental disability, while still being just as smart as anybody else. And I talk from personnal experience. That's why the subject is so sensitive to the autistic folk, it is strongly tied to the taboo of having a disability that is seen as shamefull. Nobody wants to be a "retard". I hope this gives you another perspective on the message Alexa wrote....
