Oh my goodness. It’s really spreading if the Vets have found it in various regions.please keep your pet safe! On the the positive side, so grateful they’re keeping us updated! 💕
@FastGuy1 He's a rescue. He's nervous around other dogs. Probably has something to do with him being bullied by other dogs in his past. That's just a guess. But I make sure that I stimulate his brain best as possible. We play games, go hiking and camping every weekend, and my retired parents usually have some activity for him to keep him entertained while i'm at work on the week day. Or I hire a dog sitter when I can't get them to watch him. Last night I made flet mignon for me and him. He's a pretty cool buddy. He's extremely needy though.😂
Speaking of infection, I address pet owners here, because of the following headline I just read: "Family whose dog survived mystery illness killing canines across the U.S. reveal the 'last-resort antibiotic' that saved their beloved pet" "His owners, John and Becky Oliver, used chloramphenicol to save him. The antibiotic drug is typically used for gastrointestinal and urinary infections." [DailyMail]
My poor dog has been sick since August and no one knows with what. 2 rounds of antibiotics later and he's better but still not great. This was after he was at boarding for 1 week. He's a tiny bit better day after day, but still coughing, sneezing, can't catch his breath. Poor boy. I hope it's not this.
I had the exact same thing happen to my dog. I found the solution by accident. I set up a grow tent with a carbon air filter. Just from cleaning the air, regulating humidity and increased airflow, Tippy recovered from a 4 month cough in just 3 days. You could start by looking at hepa filters or carbon air filters.
When I was a kid when our dog used to get sick such as coughing and sneezing you don't need to take your dog to the vet just use the kernel where the corn grain is attached first you have to burn a little the kernel so you can feel the smell of kernel that's burnt then divide the kernel into small pieces make a hole in between the small pieces of the kernel and use it as it was his or her collar you'll see the results he'll get better
This is not just in dogs, this is also in other animals. My cat got it from a stray cat I rescued from the streets. They already had 2 antibiotics shots but my older cat is taking it a lot harder. Already spent $130 and still has to get more if it doesn't get better
It depends on how it spreads, right? For airborne illnesses like Covid, what are you going to sanitize? All of the air inside a building? That hasn’t really panned out as a practical option.
My 11yr old Rottweiler developed a hacking cough around a week ago, she hasn't been near other dogs. We did have a dog overnight in the house mid-October, (got loose and we searched for the owner) but she stayed on another floor of the house and is apparently still healthy. My Rottie didn't have this cough til a month later! We are in Maine.
I didn't know about the dog food with salmonella and I fed it to my dog. He has been terribly ill from the food! It's cost me a lot of money in lost wages, veterinary care and grooming fees to try to restore his health!
My dog was diagnosed with a mass on her liver last March. They said it's most likely from store bought dog food . I had 3 consults with vets/ surgeons who each told me if she didn't have surgery (which would have been extremely invasive ) immediately that she would pass away. I started cooking her homemade dog food and giving her supplements. She's almost 15 years old and still going strong....she even plays!
@@Stormstorm1 The best thing is to give your dog homemade food. It's much healthier. The oldest dog in the world, who recently passed away, his owner only gave him homemade food.
Our dog has been coughing for four full weeks. It started after a visit to the vet for his shots. Our vet keeps saying its his heart murmur. I say no way. This crazy cough came full on within 24 hours after the vet visit. Heart murmurs dont act like that. They are still denying he caught something at their clinic.
This sounds just like what was described on the 1970's Escape From the Planet of the Apes movie! Cornelius and Zera said that dogs and cats were dying for no reason from some kind of illness!
Yes it is exactly the same disease but it was created in the original Planet of the Apes movie and then it was scientifically developed for Escape from Planet of the Apes but you are quite correct it is the same disease that came out of the moldy film roll from the original Planet of the Apes and it was the director's dog licking the film roll while he wasn't looking that started this whole disease
In Texas, they are saying that the Covid virus has mutated, and it is being spread through inter-species. Some Vets here are saying it's the first pathogenic form of Dogvid.
This sounds exactly like blastomycosis! My dog contracted blastomycosis and fought it for two years. He finally recovered, but has lung damage due to scar tissue, and does have days where he is weezy.
i better see a massive coming together from scientists to get a vaccine or locate a cure for this. we all can not get along, but we gotta save our dogs.
I think there will be a pooling of information thru the internet with vet pathologists and other resources to research this pathogen bacterium they suspect.
Very good questions. I would ask your vet or a local vet. Feline is very different makeup but … maybe there is a separate one going around you know? So sorry for your loss.
My cat died very unexpectedly after visiting a potential new dog sitting client. The owner has two cars that were both sick with cancer☹️ I'm absolutely devastated and wonder if I didn't bring something home.
I just recently found out my Lab has Laryneal Paralysis. Plus fluid in the lungs. 13 years old. I do have an appointment next week to put my Lab down. I don't think any of his meds are working. He don't want to go outside, starts gagging, and losing control of his functions, and gasps for air. My lab gags more outside then inside. On some days he wants to walk ... Now!! .. My Lab still eats/ drinks great. And still moves good around in the house. I have heard about this Contagious Pneumonia, so wasn't sure if maybe he has that? Now thinking, it might be Anxiety, only happens outside. Got any Ideas? I am not sure i am ready for him to go, they way my Lab act's inside the house
That cough sounded like kennel cough. It can technically progress to pneumonia specially in old dogs or those with a weak immune system. They need to do BAL to isolate the pathogen/s. We still haven’t had an outbreak of that in the UK
My beagle has developed a cough, read it could be kennel cough.been giving her honey, but not better.dont seem to be suffering at all,and her appetite is normal
Get her to the vet immediately. This illness is very severe and can go from mild to critical in an instant. Don't wait. Get your dog to the vet now. Hoping your dog is recovered soon.
1. “Needle said that given the respiratory nature of the disease, it is most likely spread through close contact and breathing in the same air of an infected animal, similar to how COVID-19 spread.” 2. Don’t give the dog horse cream. If you know what I’m talking about… don’t do it. 3. Maybe all the vet in your area and see if there have been any reports related to this in your area.
@@swiftwindturning Found something out the other day: Using ivermectin would imply that heart dewormer for dogs would cure the bacterial infection though. Think they would have figured that out pretty early.
@@swiftwindturningFor worms. It's for worming. It's not for anything else. And, it should be used for worming with instructions from a vet for proper dosing.
Wish everyone in this thread would stop speculating and making crap up. This disease in dogs is serious and requires immediate vet care if symptoms begin. Bit can go from mild to seriously critical quickly. Antibiotics are required and a complete course at least once. Dogs are ending up in oxygen tents. This is nothing to mess with. Get your dog to a vet immediately if respiratory symptoms. Vet tech here & have seen it. Stop spreading misinformation with speculation. It doesn't help. Vets are trying to figure out exactly what this is, and how best to treat it. Facts are our friends.
Respiratory is being mispronounced by many Americans and they don't even realize it. "Respiratory" actually has two ways of pronunciation depending on your grammar.
Too bad it costs an arm and a leg to go to the vet! I have 5 dogs and am struggling terribly and cannot even afford to keep up with vaccinations! This scares the life out of me!
Please don’t vaccinate that kills your dog that kills her kidneys it kills her liver that’s why every year you have to give them a test the vaccine killed my beagle don’t do it
We are definitely over vaccinating our pets anyway. The WSAVA guidance (which there is a lot of), when you really read it, says that vets shouldn't take the 3 yearly schedule for core vaccines as a rule, because they can have immunity for 7 years or more from just one round of core vaccines. My friend uses Veterinary Nosodes to immunise her dogs and they have never been ill. My dogs have had two lots of core vaccines and no more. It's more more important that you look after their gut health as that is the key to good strong immune systems. Lots of variety in their diet. I give my dogs a digestive enzyme which has a pre and probiotic in it about once a week. Just to make sure their guts are on form. They are never ill.
Social distancing and not going to daycares busy dog parks kennels etc would likely protect your dog yes. Ok so the article agrees. Do tou have a dog or just want to talk about masks?
@@tonysudano778 It was mutating from the beginning, what the virus was designed to do. Everyone probably had it one or two times before that weakness allowed greater symptoms the next time. It was "jumping" to animals right from the start. On a warm day, the virus can travel for 24 hours. If it gets in your eyes, nose or mouth you're infected. It can live on a dry surface for six hours. Ontario banned Americans from entry, because every American became a "Karen", having American "freedom". They didn't want to wear masks, social distance and disinfect their hands upon entering a building. In American, when a BLM group bought one million masks to give away for free, the C.I.A. raided the warehouse and took them away to destroy them. In America, Americans distanced six feet and wore masks during the Spanish flu. What happened to that?
My dog has been very ill from the salmonella tainted pet food. I didn't know about it because I quit watching the news when it was all about the middle east and nothing else.
Do you remember when they went on and on scaremongering people with alabama foot rot. People were hysterical. Then that rhetoric vanished into the wind when they gave people the Covid narrative to fear more.
👏👏👏 . Someone in the UK said to me "I think Bill Gates as good intentions". I said, " I'm sure they said that about Harold Shipman and look how that turned out for people". He didn't know what you say back. Lol.
