The more I learn about their story I tend to agree. At first Richard seems the most likely but Henry had so much to gain and also had a huge & successful propaganda machine. I hope one day to find out for certain.
Stafford was in charge of the Tower as part of his responsibilities as Constable. He was also the highest ranked of the Beaufort descendants outranking Henry Tudor.
Agreed, he had the most to gain. Richard had already declared them illegitimate, but they were his only heirs. Until he had a son, he needed to keep them around.
Several remains have been found over the centuries, that were thought to be the two boys. The best known remains are the bones of two children unearthed in 1674 under the foundations of a staircase that was being demolished. It's those two individuals, who where subsequently interred at Westminster Abbey as the lost sons of Edward IV. Their identity as the two missing princes was confirmed during an examination in 1933. HOWEVER, this examination is no longer considered scientific and many of its conclusions were since debunked by modern scientists (using both the written report and the photographs made in 1933) and with that, today the remains are considered unidentified again. So in summary, it's currently unclear whether the remains of the two have been found or not, but the bones of two young people have been buried at Westminster Abbey under their names.
