After owning this pack for 2 years, I am absolutely in love with it and have basically retired my other packs. The more I carry it, the more I appreciate its thoughtful design and how it easily carry loads well above it's class. There might be packs that are lighter or are more sport specific, but I think this is the best "all around". Definitely, a step above anything else on the market at its price point.

This was so helpful. Just what I was looking for. I've never used Mystery Ranch before and just wanted to learn some basic info from someone knowledgeable about backpacks. I initially thought I'd get the new Radix 31 but I'm thinking the Scree is a better fit given the supportive waist belt. I'm an older woman, just retired and want a new, smaller pack than my 38 Osprey. But I carry lenses in my pack so with the weight the Scree probably makes sense.

I’m happy to be helpful. Just a note, the new scree is a fairly different pack. More of a pure mountaineering pack. I’ve been seeing g very good close out deals on the older versions for about $100 dollars for women’s and $130 for men’s. You can try sierra trading, backcountry or just google. Cheers

haha, with my wife, we have exactly the same combo, same colors :) Recently I've done Gozo costal trail (Malta) with Scree only and tent in it (just added mesh bag on the front) :)

Very cool! I’ll add that trip to my todo list. I imagine you don’t need much in terms of clothing or a particularly heavy sleeping bag. I’m going to experiment this summer by backpacking with a 50L mountaineering pack instead of a traditional backpacking. Not only lighter, but much more minimalistic. Thanks for watching.

Nice. Sierra Trading was selling the women’s version for $75 for a while last year. Great site to watch especially now that MR is launching a bunch of new products.

Mystery Ranch "Scree" 32-L...the exact same backpack I chose for my common Daypack, or will support a single overnight camp need.

FYI, mystery ranch just came out with the updated version/s. Scree 22 and 33. Coming from a climbing background, I just love mountaineering packs for everything from travel to daily carry. Goldilocks zone.

@@LuxWad they are two very different packs. The new one is much more of a minimalistic alpine climbing pack. I quite like the look of it but not as an every day hiking pack. No side pockets or belt pockets. I suspect the coulee and other packs are now their hike focused ones.

@@mtnboy123 It seems like they have removed the 32L model from their site, it would be unfortunate if it's discontinued, it's my favorite pack for all-round outdoor use and for travel. The new model seems much more specialized like you said, I don't really care for the coulee as much

@@LuxWad yes, the hip belt in particular is not nearly as supportive as on the scree. That little bit of structure really matters. Shoulder straps and back panel are about the same. They have a couple of other offerings in the hiking space. The scree is more in the spire space. Cheets

Do you think this bag is sturdy enough to climb very steep rock faces and just mountains in very different enviroments?

Like I said in the video, this a great generalist park for a wide variety of activities. This can easily be a good “Craig pack” for going rock climbing. For more mountaineering, you could do it but I would prefer a pack that has a cleaner exterior that won’t snag and a more reinforced haul handle. Maybe the MR septer 30. For mixed rock and snow, I would also look at the septer. Just depends on your particular climbing style.
