'Mystery Shopper Scam' Snares Thousands of Consumers 

I just got one of those checks and letters in the mail today. I'm so glad I checked this out.

EPMS is a legit mystery shopping company. If you’re interested I would check them out. You don’t pay anything with them. Don’t be scammed! 💖. This story is so sad.

Just got a similar check by mail via a job offer on LinkedIn. I used the truthfinder app after i saw that neither the issuer of the check, the return address on the package, nor the name of the guy who supposedly hired me matched up. The address according to the app didn't belong to the name used in fact boo one by any of the names on the documents existed in the US in the states they claimed too be in. So when the guy txt me and asked if i cashed it yet i said yes, and my bank had me sit down with an FBI agent in the frauds department (never happened btw) and they confiscated the check and made me turn over my phone and computer for several hours. But not to worry i got them back, sans the check of course. Would he mind sending me a new check? I was shocked to find the phone number disconnected a few hours later and the email returned " mailer.returned :unknown address" gosh I wonder what happened? I hope I'm not fired, the job seemed so legit.

People try to cash these with me about once a month. The forms and documents that the scammers send with the checks are pretty authentic looking.

This happened to me, luckily my bank was able to detect it as fraud and return the bounced check, i have learned from my mistakes big time.

Isn't the bank responsible to verify a check before they cash it?

What' d the scam? THEY GET NO MONEY. Only if it's a shop itself involved. Always see who bargains... I don't see any scam unless stores and companies are involved in this themselves...But that'd be not FTC business, but FBI business...
