I would love to see a side by side comparison with the Mir-1V :D

No difference, it is the same lens, but produced in different periods by different optical factories.

Did you try reversing the front glass element? That should spice it up a bit

I bought it lately. Silver M1 from 64. Great video BTW :)

The Mir 1 series has a really bad min focusing distance because it was designed originally to work with rangefinders in M39 cameras. The Mir 1 og can be modified to improve that min focus, I did that with mine.

I can see the Mir-1B being quite a fun lens to use after modding it like that. Might have to try that with my 1-Sh.

Thank you for this great information. I had thought either my adapter was off or I had picked up a bad copy. I even considered taking the lens apart and repairing it. Now I know--just a terrible lens.

Thanks for the info! I like these kinds of reviews. Also What lens are you using to shoot this video?

Thanks for watching! I shot this video with a Zenitar-ME1 50mm f/1.7, at about f/2.8 if memory serves me right

Great video. Thanks! I love my silver 1967 m42 mir-1. Have a mir 24-n on order and looking forward to giving it a whirl on Nikon. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the Kalrinar-5n. Looks like it should be an interesting portrait lens.

Very nice! The Mir 24-N can be fantastic, very fun to shoot on a Nikon. I love the Kaleinar-5N, it's probably my favourite tele past 50mm, because of its usability and sharpness. Plus they still go for a very reasonable price!

Interesting square bokeh in this vdeo. What lens did you shoot this video on (and on what camera)?
@SovietLensReviews

This was shot on the Zenitar-ME1 50mm f/1.7 (which has a square aperture from f/2.8 onwards), and the Nikon Z6 (4k30p)

Did they call it the SH because they ran out of letters?
