This is true Disney magic. I could only imagine riding it, but this ride just seems like the kind of ride that perfectly captures the wonder and feeling of being a kid. Not to mention, the special effects are absolutely breath-taking.
I'm jealous Hong Kong. This is the most innovative and amazing thing Walt Disney Imagineering has done since the Indiana Jones Adventure. New ride system, new effects, new new new!!! I can't get over how amazing this looks!!!!
Thanks for putting this up Alex. I did the voice for Lord Henry Mystic but never got to see how the ride turned out. Your did an awesome job recording it so I link it on my Facebook fan page. Thanks again for sharing it with all of us. Respectfully yours Stephen Stanton aka Lord Henry Mystic
Wow that looks fantastic... Great idea. It's cute & fun & it's more kid friendly then haunted mansion. It's not scary at all either. I give props to the Disney imagineers
This looks like so much fun! I may never get to visit Hong Kong Disneyland but it's great that videos like this exist so I can see what I'm missing out on! It just makes me wish they built more original rides like this at Disneyland. True it is a variation of the Haunted Mansion, but like Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris, it has it's own story. Now it's just rides based on movies. :/ Thank you though to the uploader for this video!!
Yeah definitely. I'm sure at some point in the future US Disney parks will get trackless systems somewhere or other, especially with all the expansion coming. Exciting stuff to look forward to :)
I know right? When the Momma plant (its her new name now. XD) Jerks her head around at the guest that quickly and full stop "Glares" No robot wobble at all in the animatronic. I was impressed. This whole ride is a stroke of amazing.
I love the attention to detail in the music room. There's a taus peacock instrument flapping its wings and the silver lyre of Ur bobbing its bull's head
Hey Alex, this is Kevin from HK too! Thanks for sharing this amazing clip ~ I think u saved up many people's trip to Disneyland now haha. But actually after watching this, I must say it looks amazing and I really wanna go and see it for real! :)
I can always tell when a ride is amazing when watching a video of it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand. And this ride certainly did the trick.
Nice to meet you Stephen Stanton aka Lord Henry Mystic, I like your voice as Lord Henry, thanks you so much for leaving me a message, hope to hear more new from You / Disney soon. Best regards alex.yeung
Now I wanna go to Hong Kong Disneyland JUST to ride this in person. They better sell Albert plushies because he is one of the most adorable things I've ever seen.
This is awesome. I'd love to see this ride at Disney CA Adventure park, they desperately need to clear out the lame older low budget rides and have ones like this! Thanks for sharing the video.
The technology may not be completely new no, but you can't deny this ride is just dripping with the charm and magic that Disney is often missing these days.
This video os a great reminder of my trip to the AP Sneek Peek day. Some of the effects in your video I didn't notice (like the lightening effect in the final scene), but then some of the things may not have been working fully - it is such a busy ride that we found it hard to see everything even after 8 turns through it. The music box magic (ie sparkles) is an effect that people must see in person. The video doesn't do the 3D surround effect justice. Thanks for uploading this great video.
(After doing some research online), Yes, Hunny Hunt has an even-more advanced trackless system. However, that technology currently only exists at that one attraction, in Tokyo. It also cost them a fortune. So this is an un-seen technology for most Disney-goers.
Haha, Hi Kevin, sometime / something that you must experience by your own, I think this video makes people wants to go and see my their own even more XD
True, but what I'm saying is that you can't beat the original ride itself. It was an E ticket attraction and still remains one of Disneyland's finest achievements.
Mystic Point officially opens on Friday, 17 May (Buddha;s birthday public holiday). Only annual pass members and selected guests have been privileged to experience it.
Oh I agree, Disneyland from 2005 onward has had a wonderful recovery from the Eisner years but with Meg Crofton being head of DLR and DLP it's probably going to take a bit of a dip again. I just wished Stagg's team would greenlight stuff like this in the states.
HK Disneyland which is the smallest in the world, now has two unique rides not found on other parks but similar - GRIZZLY GULCH is a blend of Big Thunder Railroad and Everest and MYSTIC POINT is a new but definitely much better take on the Haunted Mansion ride. I'm really glad they allowed HKG to come up with unique attractions! Now, we look forward to MARVEL LAND which they say is coming before the 10th anniversary in 2016!
I love how people are complaining about America yet we did just receive cars land, if anyone still remembers that, new fantasyland, and an upcoming avatar land, it's not that Disney forgot about America , it's that things open at different times , America is still and always will be on disneys mind, and yeah this is an amazing ride and ..I do hope something like this comes to the states :/ haha
The blue/green/purple(?) sparkles in particular, though, I'm assuming are laser, especially since they uniformly appear in 2, maybe 3 colors. What effects do you believe use Lumilor paint? I'd suppose the Medusa painting for starters.
The main ground-breaking technology is that this ride has no physical track, in order to keep guest guessing where they will go next. Instead, the ride vehicles use a pre-programed route, and are helped by RFID chips imbedded into the floor that act as waypoints.
Mystic Manor is Hong Kong Disneyland's version of The Haunted Mansion attraction at the other parks in Tokyo, California, Florida, and Paris. It's not based on any Disney movie.
Pretty cool attraction, but there's nothing here exactly ground-breaking here, is there? I did like all the blue and green sparkles. Laser projection, right?
And disneyland is a international park, so being in english helps as well for all the foreign people. Just like Disneyland paris,a lot is spoken in english, and French people are the last who would do that!
Amazing! In terms of the effects, I think this one can stand on the same line with HM for being another attraction with superb presentation. But I think it's weak in terms of the storyline. Not that the backstory is bad. It's just very simple compare to, for example...Hightower Tower of Terror which takes guests to fully explore the intricate storyline throughout the ride. This one doesn't seem to gives much of that, tho it gives a good variety of entertaining scenes to enjoy.
By contract this ride is exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland for 5 years. This would be a great fit for Adventureland in Disneyland but I don't think there is any physical space to put it into. They already had to reduce the size of the Jungle Cruise to accomodate Indiana Jones. And it wouldn't really work anywhere in the California Adventure.
