Mystic Timbers Review, Kings Island GCI Wooden Roller Coaster | What's in the Shed? 

I'd put the blame on the whole shed debacle on the over-active imaginations of the enthusiast community. All the park really did was put out a hashtag and people ran with it. The whole thing definitely taught me to temper my expectations lol. Luckily, the ride is phenomenal and one of the most fun GCIs. KI really has a solid coaster lineup.

I was at the park last night, when I found out that Misty would be running until 10pm. I lost track after eight ride cycles, and I swear, it only became crazier with each round. I grew up riding the Beast in its glory days, but it truly can’t touch this coaster, especially at night. Another thing I truly love about this one is the relentless speed and assortment of curves, even a subtle trick-track; you can absolutely imagine Harry Traver smiling down on this coaster, seeing his legacy kept alive.

I’ve ridden this 6 times in the past 5 months and it took me watching this to realize it goes over white water canyon😂so crazy

I've ridden Mystic Timbers so many times and I loved it. It is by far my favorite wooden coaster at Kings Island.

I like the shed. It's fun. It tops off a great coaster.

I love this coaster so much. It’s 100% my favorite at kings island. I grew up with my home park being Michigans adventure so I’ve always loved wooden out and back coasters. And this one brings it to a whole different level! I went last month and I’m traveling the 4 and a half hours this month to get on again. And I really like the shed. It actually exceeded my expectations because everyone was saying it was disappointing. But it’s rare we even get a themed break run outside of real theme parks. I give mystic Timbers a 9.5 outta 10 I do wish it was a little longer… but I always wish that on good coasters.

There is that one gci in Vietnam, I could see that one topping mystic as the best gci... Also Coaster express will always be my number one! ;)

I would say Mystic Timbers is GCI's best creation, as far as the ones I've ridden. The layout is very thrilling and the theme is unique and different. I do wish the ride was a little longer but I think the speed exaggerates the shortness as well. The shed is cool too. Could it have been better? Sure, but I think they did a pretty good job with it and the enthusiast community hyped it up more than Kings Island did.

My second favorite wood coaster, behind only El Toro.

I love the IMAscore soundtrack it’s AMAZING and I love how the stations soundtrack has different instruments at different parts of it!

I've been on Mystic Timbers and Thunderhead. I had such a hard time deciding which one I liked better because they are two of my favorite coasters. I have them ranked back to back in my top 15. I ultimately decided I prefer Thunderhead slightly more because I loved the very wild, out of control feeling, though I certainly appreciate the smoothness and re-rideability of Mystic Timbers.

If KI hadn't hyped up the shed everyone would've been happy. It's like Alton and 13.

It’s so fun. I remember the hype of the shed and was super disappointed because of how much they made it seem like it was a drop. I agree with you on being better then nothing but all the hype was essentially for a break run.

in my opinion the drop goves insane ejector in the back plus i ridden it after raining but i think its all about that amazing ejector

The variable chain lift is what it is because you’re supposed to be interacting with the guard. You slow down to hear what he says, then gun your engine in defiance. As far as The Shed, it’s the conclusion to the story but nobody really understands the full story, so I think that’s why it comes across as strange or underwhelming to the average guest.

The US needs more IMASCORE!

This ride really speeds up as the day goes on

I felt that Prowler was a souped of version of Mystic Timbers. Prowler feels wilder, more out of control, and seemed to have better quality airtime. The airtime moments on each are about 15-16, but Prowler ends with those forceful turns, while MT doesn't. However, Mystic Timbers is smoother (even after Prowler's re-track) and has a much better brake run. For me, Prowler is easily my favorite of the 2, but both are in my top 50. I placed Gold Striker between them as my 2nd favorite GCI.

I feel Mystic Timbers is a bit overhyped. I prefer Gold Striker and Thunderhead over Mystic Timbers. I think I will prefer Renegade once I get to ValleyFair. I also think Cornball Express is better than Mystic Timbers. And I really prefer GhostRider to it. With that said I need to get a night ride on it and I agree that it is world's better than the Beast and I think Mystic Timbers would be the better night ride.

coasters with a lot of airtime hills are way more fun than twister coasters anyways! then again i prefer airtime over laterals...🤷‍♀️

So I have only ridden Mystic Timbers 3 Times, on my so far only KI visit which was in 2019. The Other Two GCIs I have done Are Troy and Wodan. So: Mystic Timbers is fun but nothing outstanding because I don't like the return Trip and the airtime is weak for the Most Part. Troy is By Far my Favorite GCI and Woodie, because it does what GCI is best at at: Laterals. Something Mystic is Lacking a bit. But Both rides Are ages better than Wodan. Wodan has about no airtime, no good Laterals and a Bad Speed usage.

My problem with the shed is that we don't care about the music they play at the end. The effects we see in the screen with the lights are great but we only see it when we leave and some riders might not even see much of it. Also, the shed is missing something. It has a giant evil tree, a humongous bat (inspired by The Bat roller coaster probably) and a huge snake (probably inspired by the nearby Diamondback roller coaster) but it has to also have a giant monster inspired by another nearby roller coaster known as The Beast.

That thing hauls!
