We generally say monthly is a good idea, maybe every two weeks with hard water and every other month if you have treated water. The solution is only meant to be run through one time, do not put used solution back through the machine.

DI Water is better and will greatly reduce the frequency you will need to use SM but should still be done 1-2 times a year
