Just a heads up... you should NEVER mix diff humidity level packs together. Theyll fight each other, and will die out a lot quicker. peace.

I do something similar. In a small 50 count humidor I use one 69% boveda and a small tube of 70% heartfelt beads. I refill the beads every week or so, and they dry out quickly, keeping the boveda always charged. I used to use just the beads, but found that they don't hold enough water, and fluctuate too much. With the combination my humidor stays at a rock solid 65% all the time.

How is this helpful? Using two different methods grew mold

Charles Rutherford I am curious about the shelf life of the Boveda bags before the are placed in use? Also is there a specific way to store them before using?
@AM2PMReviews
@AM2PMReviews 7 лет назад
hey Samuel, Yes they come in a pack sealed like a ziplock bag. I have had some more months and they haven't changed a bit. So as soon as you take them out is when they change and either let humidity off or take some in.
@samuelkelley1929

Thanks for the info. My cousin has been using them for a couple of years and he swears by them. Guess it's time for me to switch over.

@@samuelkelley1929 if they are already out of their original packaging put them in an air tight sealed container or else they will dry out within a day or two

that green foam is the reason you found mold, it is known to cause it. my best advice is to get rid of it.

Hey people, I was wondering if anyone could help me out on a question I have, I'm just getting in to cigars and about to buy a humidor soon but where I live (the U.K) the humidity is naturally high... normally around the mid 60's and as I speak right now it's at 92%. So would I even need a humidifier??
@AM2PMReviews
@AM2PMReviews 5 лет назад
you would need Boveda to suck up the humidity that is above 70% so that you don't grow mold.

I have 3 Boveda packs that are 3 years old and still working. I haven't done anything to them. I say they are still working because the haven't gotten hard and my digital hygrometer still read 69%. Maybe I just got lucky.

Ricky Rivers Lucky you to be in a good location with stable humidity. Customers near the beach I need to help dehumidify, Boveda will even swell under these conditions and you have to take them out eventually. This is the miracle of Boveda enjoy it and watch to see that they do not get hard. Forget the hygrometer unless you spent $150 dollars on it. I usually tell the customers they are just for show. Boveda is Albert Einstein meets cigars do not fool with Albert.

Good video man...wasnt aware the could be recharged...thanks
@tobacconist56
@tobacconist56 9 лет назад
Please do not recharge the Boveda packs. They are inexpensive and are necessary to keep your cigars fresh. I had 2 customers this year bring in humidors with mold. The problem consistent was the recharging of the Boveda packs. I have never seen mold growth with Boveda under normal and abnormal conditions unless you recharge them. Please save your cigars and buy new Boveda when you need them. I love cigars and only want to help. 35 years in the business.

+Canadian Metis Man You are correct. I see no reason to use a humidifier - just place them in distilled water over night. Do not re-use the same distilled water, as a rule.
@AM2PMReviews
@AM2PMReviews 8 лет назад
+ScholomanceRareBooks very true. I am still using the same boveda packs and they are working well and no mold and just use distilled water to slow hydrate them.
@thequantaleaper
@thequantaleaper 5 лет назад
...Which means you're having to fill those nasty green foam things up with water and using them alongside the Boveda packs? You're not supposed to use them concurrently. And it's more work. Just keep a couple extra of the Boveda that you prefer (keep them all the same RH%) and when the ones you're using start getting low just swap in the fresh ones you keep sealed and recharge the older ones in some distilled water for a day or so.

I don't use this method anymore since I have a few wineadors now. However, this method was perfect for me.

Im not sure I can trust what you're saying about Boveda packs if you don't even know that you're not supposed to mix the RH of the packs in your humidor. Amateur move
@wtfmanicanthaveaname
@wtfmanicanthaveaname 6 лет назад
That’s what I was thinking. Mixing 1 RH pack with another is just having them fight against each other. i have a lot of cigars i paid 15-25 bucks a stick for in my humidor, ill just drop the 4 bucks a pack when needed rather than get cheap and risk a moldy Liga.

@@highhat5229 you will want to get some sort of 2 way humidification like boveda packs so that your cigars dont become overhumidified on those 75% plus humidity days overhumidified cigars can lead to tobaccos beetles as well as poor burn on your cigars as well

If you do keep the cellophane on the sticks, at least cut the folded part off at the ends so the ends can breathe. Then keep that ends away from the oasis unit.

So what was the myth?? You didn't show anything on how to recharge the packs. All you did was move them from draw to draw.
@AM2PMReviews
@AM2PMReviews 9 лет назад
Did you see the foam brick that I filled with distilled water and placed the packs in front of? That brick is recharging them. I don't have to whip out stupid Tupperware to recharge them, I do it in the humidor...the point is that it is super easy...almost too easy. The myth is that boveda packs are not rechargeable or shouldn't be recharged...well i have been successfully recharging these for over a year now with no problems what so ever!
@AM2PMReviews
@AM2PMReviews 9 лет назад
Now i changed it to beads because the foam was starting to grow mold.

the myth is that boveda packs cannot or should not be reused once they are dried out. it says so on most boveda directions.... But i have found a way to recharge them and use them indefinitely. thanks for watching. I hope i saved you money if you use them.
