Absolutely, especially if you're using a backpack sprayer. We recommend a dilution rate of 20:1, and backpack sprayers don't come close to that. Using a hose-end sprayer, you can get away with not watering because you get that dilution. The only products you don't have to water is GreeneEffect and D-Thatch
Jimmy I'm kind of late to the game. I just got my bio stim pack recently. I had a soil test done not to long ago and I was low on everyrthing. I've already applied the 12-12-12 last month. Would it be okay if apply rgs, humic, and air8 every two weeks at least for a couple of months to maybe catch up?
Absolutely. Now, RGS Humic and Air-8 won't change a soil tests results by much. If there are trapped nutrients, they will help make them available to the grass. MicroGreene will help fulfill the minor nutrients.
I mixed Humic12 (6oz per 1000) and D Thatch ( 9 oz per 1000) in my orthro sprayer and it is 98° today. I was going to water it tomorrow morning. Hope I didn't waste my Humic12 and D thatch by mixing them together. My front yard is 2000 sqft and my back yard is 2000 sqft.
Just found your personal channel and subbed yesterday. I am up here Davis County. My understanding was that the dethatch was better at temps over 90 degrees? (something to do with microbes working better with higher temperatures?) I used the ortho sprayer last year, going through 4 of them. They all started leaking making is super annoying to be me all wet while trying to cover my lawn with product. I am using a can sprayer this year, and it seemed to work for an 18-0-1 application. I might try an Ortho again, thanks for the tips!
Is there an official position from N-EXT on which biostimulant products can be mixed when applying in a hose end sprayer (directly mixing concentrates)? In a backpack (more dilluted assuming water is added first)?
So far, I'm having better luck with the chameleon. maybe I'm not cleaning the Ortho ones properly, but I've gone through like 4 of them over the past 2 years. Nothing more frustrating then getting your stuff all mixed up and ready to go and the dang sprayer fails. Thanks for the video
I really think either brand is hit or miss. Definitely not the best quality products on the market. I just did a comparison between the Ortho and the Chameleon on my channel, actually.
Nice job Jimmy !!! I’m doing weekly treatments this year. Spoon feeding. Started with Humic12, then 18-0-1 GreenePunch and just put down 0-0-2 MicroGreene. Results are awesome already.
Hey jimmy or John, I just started using these products with the ortho house E.N.D. sprayer I cut the tube tied the weight back on .but I find when using air 8 the product clogs up still and won’t come out , at times . I mix well and fill with water .i even pull on tube to make sure it’s not clog. Only used it once so it’s not been used a lot any suggestions? Thanks Tom.
I’ve been using the next product for years . This year I’ll be trying the CX product can I still use the Next product with CX ? I can’t get GCI or LCN to respond. Their customer service is very poor.
Would it be more beneficial to use the dethatch when temperatures are warmer to increase microbial activity and get a better bang for your buck with the product ?
Agreed. Almost better off using RGS and Air 8 to stimulate root growth coupled with the Humic12. Depending on air temps the water alone (being increased of course) coming out of the hose end sprayer often times is enough to wake up the turf.
No matter what we do, they fail to pick up from the tank consistently. It isnt a full on clog scenario, but inconsistent mix in the stream. We've tried 3 separate hose end types all with the same result. I thought it would be a good way to do my own properties without lugging a battery sprayer or an entire tank sprayer around.
Great video, Jimmy! Question, if I have a 1,027 sq ft lawn and I want to put 3oz per 1,000 of humic acid down, I would put down 3oz of product plus dilute it with water to 23oz in the bottle, correct? It requires a 7:1 ratio (so 3oz of product x7 = 21oz of combined water and product). Does that make sense? Thank you!
You would thing that the dethach needs to sit on top so it can do its work on the thatch and dead grass. I’m told it also works best in high temps near 80. The Humic would be best to water in to get down to the roots .
Hey Gary. I choose to rarely mix products because I find I get better performance from the hose end sprayer when I don't mix. Personal choice is all. Feel free to mix if you like.
WOW! Where did you find an Ortho hose end that doesn’t leak all over you??? Bought 3 new ones and they all leak like crazy. 🤣 ortho needs a QC department.
If you notice in the background, Jimmy is being watch by local law enforcement :-) After all, a man who cares about his lawn can only be trouble right?
