A short video clip showing the haulage capability of the newly reengineered N Gauge M7 0-4-4 locomotive. For more information visit the news section on the Dapol Website or the Dapol Digest or the Dapol online catalogue.
While disappointing it's not DCC ready, that hauling power nearly makes up for it that is if it doesn't wheel slip like mad trying to pull just two coaches like the previous version. Hopefully there will be enough space to fit in a decoder even with the weight.
It's a shame there is no long chassis P&P version as per the photo in this video! Would like to see the loco STARTING a 7 coach load. Surely If us amateurs can squeeze in a DCC chip you must be able to.
Hi, what is deemed to be acceptable for the individual to do with a model is not always the best for mass production. We are currently investigating how to make the model more DCC friendly if not actually DCC ready.
Impressive and I think the decision to omit the dcc option is the right one given how awkward 0-4-4t are to balance. Perhaps include some solder pads for the chassis to aid dcc installation with a view to installing a tiny zimo chip in the rear bunker?
HI, No they will not be DCC Ready I am afraid. It was a choice between further enhancing the running quality with extra weight or a DCC Socket and the design team went with running quality.
@@dapoltv4705 For a steam locomotive, one only needs to solder the four wires in any case, as there are no lights, and the solder joints will take far less space than a socket, so for anyone able to do some fairly basic soldering, I can see the advantages of this approach. I imagine that getting adequate weight in such a teeny steam locomotive is quite a challenge!
