Let’s walk Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge Beach on north Jupiter Island. Found nice seashells-Lion’s Paws, Scotch Bonnets, Thorny Oysters and large chunks of sea glass to name a few. I’ll share a beautiful “orange” milk conch shell also that I found a few days after this walk at the same beach. Virtual shelling just for YOU!

I love watching your videos. BTW, I didn't read all the comments, so maybe someone already told you that collecting coral, even dead coral, on Florida beaches is illegal and can lead to huge fines.

Yes, if you look in this video’s description you can see posted this disclaimer: Coral returned to the ocean. For more information: florida-beaches-info.com/can-you-take-dead-coral-from-florida-beaches/

 Recently I have learned this and all has been returned; I spoke with Lane Garrett from FWC Marine Fishery Management myself over the phone, at the beginning of this month, who kindly explained it all. I told him about my channel etc. and he said putting the disclaimer was fine. I have that directly displayed on the screen in some videos like my MacArthur video when I show the shell finds. Thank you so much for reaching out with your concern, hopefully more people can be aware of this law (reef protection act) too that was passed and became law in 2009. Blessings & happy shelling!

It’s really nice there Nancy I think you’ll really like it! And just a tip there is only a fixed Porta-potty bathroom there, but there is a beach right before this one & has some really nice bathrooms and showers called Hobe sound Beach Park just go there to use the bathroom before and after that’s what I do all the time and it’s free parking at that one (you do have to pay at Nathaniel P. Reed). Thanks for watching!

Oh my gosh, what an absolutely beautiful Milk Conch!! I can’t believe how vibrant and orange it is. A shame that it needed to go back into the water, but hopefully I will wash up again for you someday 😉 Until then, there are always plenty of other great shells. Surprisingly, I liked the vibrantly coloured oyster too!!

I was stunning! I was happy to spend a few minutes with him. I had to look that one up hard to be sure it was a Milk Conch! I did find a piece of a Hawkwing Conch that same orange so I'm thinking it's got to be something endemic to that area. Thx for watching!

Oh the memories! When I was about 10, (50 years ago) my family would drive up there (from WPB) near Sand Sprit park. Not sure if that is still there. It was an isolated beach. There would be mounds and mounds of shells about 4 ft deep. It was Heaven. Not sure why. Maybe it had been dredged or just untouched. We would sit on top of those shell dunes and dig for hours. When we stopped finding, we’d move a little further down the beach. There was driftwood too. And once I found a kukui nut. They’re from Hawaii! I’m surprised you found so many Scotch bonnets. They are so fragile and were highly sought after. And that gorgeous conch! Happy shelling and many blessings!

What amazing memories thank you for sharing. I could get lost for days on a shell mound too lol. If I find a good hill of shells I have to peel myself away lol. Lido beach was my shell mountain heaven (my first couple of videos Lido parts 1 & 2). Thank you again for sharing and watching-bless you!

I believe that large gray piece was probably an old tv screen glass. I saw another beach comber pick up some like that at a different beach and he explained that it was from an old tv. That lions paw was awesome. Blessings

So happy you enjoyed this walk Kathy! Oh I know that orange color was crazy. I researched it; asked friends, "is this really a 'milk' conch?!" I have NEVER see an orange one. I found a piece of a hawks wing too in that "same" orange color. So it might be something endemic to that area in relation to what they eat around there. Anyways, thank you for watching.

Ive never found a lion paw. I found several kitten paws last year on my trip to Florida. I need to find different places to go for shells. Loved the video!

Oh I sure hope you can find one next time you go shelling for them. If you have the chance give Hobe Sound a try 👍🏼 It’s so beautiful and the further north you can make it on Jupiter island the better the shells get. Thx for watching.

Was this a recent trip? And was this a good day or is this how many shells are normally there?
@FloridaBeachWalks

A couple yrs ago in winter. I am sharing all my saved up walks first while starting this channel (mixed with current walks). Winter shelling is better (Nov- Feb). Shelling is always a hit a miss on the east coast. One day there can be lots of shells others there is nothing or very little (heavy wave & windy action usually indicates not much washes up but can produce great shelling after like 2-3 days after). Sometimes I go shelling and I don’t find a thing…but it’s always a great experience no matter what.

Just remember the collection of any stoney coral is prohibited and against the law. Throughout the state of Florida, the collection of stony corals, fire corals, and the octocorals Gorgonia flabellum and G. ventalina (common sea-fans) is prohibited.

Yep 👍🏼 that is listed in the videos description. My other videos I have a note on the screen about “all corals returned to ocean”. I have no coral in my possession. 🐚👍🏼 Keep spreading the word and thx for watching!
