ENGINE START, TAXI & TAKEOFF of this Boeing CH-47D Chinook (N388RA) owned by ROTAK Helicopter Services. This Chinook stopped at the Penticton Airport in British Columbia, Canada (CYYF) for a short fuel stop on the way from Alaska to Idaho on July 16, 2022 🛑Subscribe here ➤bit.ly/VMCAviationVideos
It appears that this Chinook crashed into Salmon River in Idaho just a few days later on July 21, 2022 - aviation-safety.net/wikibase/...
Sadly, on July 22, 2022 it was confirmed that Pilot Tom Hayes and Jared Bird did not survive the crash.

If N388RA was CH-47D, 88-00097... that was my very good friend and fellow "Hooker", on-board the aircraft. Had hundreds of hours on her, in the states and even more in Iraq. Flew her from Kuwait to Tikrit, in the left seat, with my PIC in the right seat, with a cracked windshield, 2007. Even did my very first "crash-and-bang" dust qualification landing on this acft. Rest in peace brother...

Now that's an awesome catch, great footage of the mighty Chinook. That's very sad to hear this helicopter crashed just a few days later. That's definitely a dangerous and challenging job.

Yes, it is a dangerous job. Last year we had the Black Tusk K-MAX stationed in YYF for a few weeks. 2 month's later it crashed into Killam Bay while heli-logging.

@@VMCAviationVideos Yes, it can a shock to the system when they're here one day and gone the next. I remember when they had the Hercules crashes in Edmonton back in 1985, one of the female Aero Engine tech in Edmonton watched her brother die in one of the Hercs, it was his first time going up for a flight.

I looked at the attached Flight Incident report and the crash happened during fire fighting along the Snake River, like the fire fighting aircraft that are based in Kelowna that VCM usually videos there is alway a change of a fatal accident, that is what comes with job of aerial fire fighting. Should they have stopped making videos of the Snowbirds because of the crash in Kamloops 2 years ago? No, it's your choice whether to watch these videos or not, to they are a reminder of the brave people who fight forest fires and put their lives on the every time they take off. And I'm a Veteran of the RCAF and have lost friends who laid their lifes on the line to save others.
