Have your N64 cartridges stopped saving your games? I'll show you how to replace the battery the right way.
Follow these directions at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage that might happen from replacing the batteries in your games or systems. I am not an electronics expert.

I've watched several of these battery replacement videos in prep for changing the battery on one of my own n64 cartridges, and you're the only one who finely detailed every step of the soldering process. Thank you!

Extremely helpful! Very scared to do this as I’ve never used a soldering iron before but I hope it works lol and I don’t break the other parts of the cart 😟

Does this work for N64 controller paks ( Memory cards) as well? Did you loose all saves because you did not run a secondary battery supply while changing the original battery? (Want to know if ill loose my saves as soon as I detach the original battery...)

You can change the battery in the Controller Pack. It takes a CR2032 and you need a small game bit to open the pack. I'll be doing a video on the Controller Pack soon. You WILL loose your save games. You could try to hook up a temporary battery while you change the permanent one, but I've never attempted it, so I don't want to advise you on something I've never done. I did exactly what you did and my game saved once and I played it for about 7 hours and then turned it off to check and my save was gone. I ordered a new battery off of Amazon and it didn’t last a day.. any idea?

Double check your joints and make sure nothing it bridged. Other than that, I might be a bad battery. (It's rare but it does happen.)

Will the part where the game gets read become damaged if I touch it while soldering a new battery in? Thanks :)

Not if you touch it with your fingers. Just clean it off with some alcohol and a q-tip. If you touch it with a soldering iron and get solder on it, you'll need to clean absolutely all of it off.
