Wish Pa. Ranjith produces a classy biography documentary series on Babasaheb Ambedkar, which meticulously details his idea which could influence current & future generation minds!
I think not everything mentioned in the video is true. I’ve read a bit of ambedkar and he is more an atheist than a god believer. He converted to Buddhism because it was a political move to show the hindus that there is a much better religion than Hinduism and shame Hinduism. It was more political than anything to do with his religiousness.
Yes. Ambedkar is an atheist. Buddhism is an atheist religion. Buddhism is definitely a better religion because it teaches equality, liberty and fraternity. It was because of of the caste system preached in Hinduism, Babasaheb was discriminated all his life. Everyone who are discriminated will be naturally attracted to something that treats them better. This doesn't mean shaming hinduism.
jpriyadharshini yes, Buddhism in its purest form is an atheistic religion. However, my idea is to look at everything in terms of the present world. Centuries ago, Buddhism was different which suited the day and age of that century(s). However, now it is not the case. After the death of Buddha, a devotional element was formed within Buddhism and thence you see the deification. Stupas and pilgrimages were built. When ambedkar accepted Buddhism, it was in a state of every other religion in terms of being not true to the present world. That holds good for any religion today. Thousands of years, people have been following a script which has remained unamended.
jpriyadharshini and when I said shaming Hinduism, it was only because the way it discriminated humans in a very systematic way. It was ambedkar’s way of shaming Hinduism and saying no to a religion which never accepted him. On another note, I have no intentions to shame anyone or any religion.
@@buckbeak3976actually the core principle of Budhism is similar to atheism, and more over Budhism evolved as measure to counter the Brahmanical hegemony, and he strongly support the idea. Read his book called Budha or Karl Marx you'll get more idea.
paul johnson thanks for the suggestion. Will try out. The entire point what I am trying to make is being missed. Ambedkar did accept Buddhism for reasons known to him. But I believe he did that deliberately so as to say that, Hinduism is not a religion for the downtrodden. And it had to be shown to the hindus that there are better things to humanity than Hinduism. Did he believe in Buddha or not, I am not sure. But did he try to make a political point, a big yes.
