I don't why you promote a new audio digital wireless system making a video with a really low quality audio. If you don't use it to make a better result, why other people should believe you?
Chances are, most of the environment that most people are gonna be using wireless mics 2.4GHz will be plenty good. I am waiting to see how good the Rodelink wireless kit will be. With the price of this sennheiser AVX, I can buy 2 rodelink wireless kits and call it the day.
So do these new AVX units, being mostly digital, also use the Apogee converters, I hope? I'd love it if these could replace the pricey Lectrosonics stuff at similar quality.
Hahaha, you are are right, though. Should've used a Sanken CS3 shotgun with its superior rejection, or a hypercardiod handheld. Even I know that, and I'm just a serious amateur at this point! In general, the NAB interviews from everyone I've seen have had poor quality video and audio. In all seriousness, it is kind of bizarre that the pros don't do much better than the RU-vid amateurs in situations like this, huh?? Even super expert AbelCine was kind of lacking (although better). Very strange, indeed. I wonder why this is? Trew audio, at least, had good audio. Perhaps the best of these NAB interviews. Extra terrible video, though! But you can forgive the audio guys for bad video. :)
Hello! This is quite informative video about AVX. Right now, I am using Sennheiser G3 Wireless mic, bought from B&H few years back. G3 has one great problem with DSLR or Entry Level Camcorder (with 3.5 mm stereo jack), and you can have keep the preamp of camera quiet by turning audio to manual and bringing all the way to zero and one point or notch up. When I don't use G3 in this manner, there is lot of his or noise in audio when I am not talking. Consdering that I will be using same camera with AVX, will there be same problem. I want to ask... If I raise the level of audio of camera to 1/2 or 2/3 or 3/4, will camera's preamp work and distort the recorded sound? Regards, Dr. Vikram Aditya Tomar
I only wish they had made a plugin transmitter for use with any handheld mic of choice, rather than forcing the MD42 on customers. I much prefer my Electrovoice RE50N/D. I do have the AVX lav MKE-2 kit wich is fantastic, but they have lost a potential sale with their handheld option.
Not having the ability to replace the battery concerns me a lot on this product. We would have to tape on a USB charger as we are always filming for more then 4 hours. Having this on my ENG crew is just open doors for Murphy's Law. I will stick with the old system for now. My opinion is that this battery issue will be a problem for a lot of professional people, how ever I think it will be great for students and Indy.
Great point! But as a pro, of course, you are used to carrying batteries -- which is why you had this great battery idea so quickly :) thanks for sharing that. And you're right,,, Dense usb batteries, from say Sony, will likely run this all day long. More important for one or two man band types are that they are much smaller than the substantial Anton Bauer and V mount format you are probably used to lugging around. I think these will also be killer for making quick RU-vid clips and interviews... Much like we see of the nab coverage here. I think, though, oddly that 48v phantom won't actually charge the receiver -- which is supposed to 4 hours max runtime. The presence of phantom may control the on and off power, which is cool, but why doesn't it power it or charge it? Or does it? It's a bit hard to understand here. The B&H interviewer implies that phantom may power the receivers, but the Sennheiser guys seem to imply phantom serves more of a control fuction and that they run on batteries only. Again, tough to decode, and I'd love some clarification here. The transmitters, on the other hand, are supposed to 11 hours... Which isn't too shabby. I also have to wonder if these use Apogee audio circuitry like some of their other new skus. G3s sounded great, though, higher end unit such as Ledtronics always seemed to sound better. It'd be amazing if they incorporated high end sounding circuitry in the AVX.

Hello This microphone produces a noise between the transmitter and the mic, and I can solve that problem? When approached the mic ME2 to body tranmitter buzz noise occurs, that's normal?
Check your cabling and connection. Avoid noise due to friction and that the connection cable and the antenna do not cross. Attach the microphone at a distance of approx. 25 cm to the mouth.. Make sure battery is full charged as well. >Mark
Would I be able to have one transmitter communicate with two receivers? Say I wanted my lav mic to go to two different recording sources, but I don't want them to wear two transmitters and mics

dolovfm NO, AVX receivers can only handle signal from 1 transmitter at a time, if you need to add another mic, you would need to purchase another wireless system. - Yossi

RadioFree Intern Yes, the lav is facing downwards. It's an omni-directional polar pattern so it will pick up sound from any direction, but having the mic face downwards helps to cut out plosives, like "p" or "b" sounds from the speaker's mouth.
Really? A company making its bread and butter selling this stuff manages to mess up the audio while shooting a piece on audio kit? What's next out of focus camera reviews or pixilated monitor overviews?
