What could be a better combination than the Venus of India Madhubala on the screen and Lata Mangreshkar's voice in playback and music director C. Ramchandra composing the tune.
He is best remembered as some of the most memorable and soulful songs even composed in films like Navrang, Albela, Azad, Patanga, Anarkali, Zanzar, Yasmin. This film Nadan had another great song "aa teri tasveer bana lu" by Talat. In fact, Nadan starring Madhubala and Dev was based on 1934 Hollowood hit "It Happened One Night" (5 Oscars). Other adapted films with same plot are "Chori Chori" (1956 - Raj/Nargis) and "Dil He Ke Manta Nahi (1991 - Aamir/Pooja).
Thank you Sir for the upload. What a wonderful combination! Paragon of Beauty; the Handsome; and my Mother singing. Thank you. What else do I crave for! I love them all.
An excellent, rare and fine upload by Apandi, deserving all kudos.Song penned by veteran P.L.Santoshi coupled with flawless directorial performance. Nadan,1951,is true version of film It happened one Night(1934)after Nadan Chori Chori,1955,Dil hai Ke Mnta Nahi ,1991,.In Pakistan Tum Mile Pyar Mila, .Madhubala's performance is right on top comparing other heroines who performed the same role.
C.Ramchandra: versatile, genius, eccentric! Assumed several roles/aliases 1) Composer: "C.Ramchandra" in over 125 films from 1942 to 1971 and "Chic Chocolate or "Anna Saheb" in a few B/C grade films; 2) Singer "Chitalkar" [Shehnai 1947 (aana meri jaan Sunday ke Sunday)] [Sipahiya 49 with Lata (e ankh ab no rona)] [Sargam 50 (wo humse chup hai ham unse)] [Azad 55 with Lata (kitna hasin he mausam...) etc.; Actor in several flopped films, inlcuding as hero at age 18 in "Naganand"...see next post.
Yes nandu1f indeed music director "Chic Chocolate" was assistant to C.Ramchandra.His real name was A. X. Vaz and he was from Goa.The credit of this film was given to chic chocolate under the supervision of C Ramchandra. He also worked with OP Nayyar and Khayyam. He died in the year1978 at the age of 55 yrs.
Amazing song and beautiful music. A rare gem I am hearing for the first time. Many questions. But first, Who is the music director? Does any one know when Dev Anand and Madhubala started in Hindi movies. Madhubala's sister Chanchal (?) was borne in our hospital in Bombay, my mother told me. When was she borne? Most likely some time in Forties. Thanks aapindi ji for the grat upload.
@amrutvani2 ... Thanks Harish for the rare information. I never heard of the talented Mr. Vaz before - so unfortunate he died so young. Receiving nuggets of such information on memorable songs from persons like you makes watching these videos doubly pleasurable.
The music of the film was composed by Chic Choclate who was CR's assistant. Under an agreement CR was bound to compose two of the songs for this film and this is one of them.
