@@Gemini053This is partially light novel spoilers (the ones that soon will be adapted into anime) but part of the backstory was already told in zoku owari Spoilers for who doesn't want to know Shinobu once used to be a human, precisely a princess of an unnamed European Kingdom, and at the time she was called Rola. Rola was a very beautiful princess, so much so that she had the nickname princess Beauty, and everybody from the Kingdom would gift her their but she hated that people would consider her just for her exterior beauty. One day Rola meets a witch, and she asks her to make everyone being able to see also her inner beauty, the witch makes this wish true but soon Rola will regret that: her inner beauty is even more impressive, and people felt unworthy to stand besides her so they all gifted their most precious belonging, their life, bringing her own Kingdom to ruins. Princess Beauty will then travel place to place trying to find a cure to her curse, until she encounters a vampire, Deathtopia Virtuoso Suicidemaster. They become friends and Rola asks Suicidemaster to make her a vampire so that at least she can eat the people who die so they will not die in vain, and so she becomes kiss-shot. Kiss-shot and Deathtopia part ways and eventually kiss-shot's curse is lifted (probably because of her vampire nature) and kiss-shot modifies her memories so that her human background is forgotten (if you remember in kizu she had said she just remembered she was human and she didn't have many memories about it). And so this is how beauty ruined shinobu's life
@@Gemini053I’m a bit iffy since I haven’t watched monogatari for a long time but spoilers obviously Shinobu as a human was so beautiful that whenever she was seen by someone they would automatically offer their most precious thing in possession. You would think it would be money or some other objects but in reality it would result in them immediately beheading themselves, because what is more precious then ones own life. With this effect of her beauty only being negated by becoming undead

@@sicko5821 It definitely depends on the circumstances, not only change roles they can also be simultaneously both. Like Person A physically harming Person B in a setting where there are observers, and B intentionally provoked A to worsen A public image. On a physical level B is a victim and A is the assailant, while on a psychological level A is a victim and B is the attacker. I think victims really exist in the human imagined reality (like people who got killed because they breathe funny or smth), but inexistent in the domain of natural laws. The same way like how morality exist in human minds but nature is arbitary (natural laws only “cares” about potential, action, and reaction)

@@knochentrocken96 Exactly! I like how Shinobu was tough on her but took the time to teach Nadeko how to use her newfound powers responsibly and how Nadeko picked up on it. Just imagine if the donuts Nadeko drew were as delicious as Mister Donut. Shinobu would probably find an excuse to visit her every day. XD

Shinobus bedroom confrontations are very raw. She hits hard plenty other times but the other one i remember so well is when *Black Hanekawa* showed up during the Tsubasa episodes.
I mean, I do find it a bit annoying when characters think they can just break down other characters like they are so full of themselves, one of the reasons why I hated SNAFU, the MC genuinely pisses me off in SNAFU.

I wonder whether Shinobu already knows what she is facing at this point. A threat for her and Koyomi. That's why she has little to no sympathy to Nadeko. My memory of Monogatari is blurry. At one point when Shinobu still stays with Meme yet to stay in Koyomi's shadow, and Nadeko spends a night at the building, Shinobu basically marked Nadeko as if she was a threat. But the roasts are true, albeit harsh. Shinobu speaks facts about Nadeko. Sasuga, best girl. 👏
Yeah Shinobu has been around at the very least 500 years. From what i can tell her roasts could have been much more savage and she was going easy on her.
@@iceloveanime It's must be very tempting for Shinobu to just kill Nadeko right at that moment. But she put Koyomi first and she doesn't want to make him sad. Even though she very much understand that Koyomi will try to go with his naivety and do his hardest to "save everyone", she still chose to follow him. So yeah, Shinobu _is_ going easy on Nadeko, indeed.
She isn't just roasting Nadeko imo, she is also roasting the previous herself(when she was human people would die for her like crazy because she was the most beautiful thing they have ever seen)
Quite different, nadeko uses her image to manipulate people, shinobu was so beautiful that people killed themselves when seeing her, because they wanted to give the most precious thing they had to her@@marcusvinicius917
The best part of this scene is the "second reading" that nadeko does in Nademonogatari. Spoiler ahead: I love the fact that after being so influenced by this dialogue Nadeko understand that at this time shinobu was having a bad period because of Seishiru, allowing her to lift the weight given to theese words and move on
Yeah, Shinobu is no.1 kawaii character in Monogatari series. I don't see Nadeko winning against her. It's because Shinobu showing her kawaii through her real self but Nadeko showing herself weak to make people evaluate her as innocent kawaii.
