MasterNate but wouldnt you lose more time by restarting loading screens etc opposed to just finishing that level slightly slower? sure once he restarts and re loads hes never going t9 be able to catch up to his time so he may aswell continue and forget tue restart.
by the time he gets his 2nd shot he's already 18 seconds in...alot of time wasted. he should of kept going. now hes going to finish the first level in say 40 seconds instead of 20 as an e.g
This is what GDQ should be. Speed runners having fun with it. Watching a guy with no personality is equivalent to just watching a TA run. The fact that he even allowed himself to die just to show high risk strategies shows that he has the right idea when it comes to being entertaining. Much better than some stone golem, no bad words, kind of guy.

Back when GDQ wasn't trying to target a family audience and was actually good. Now if you say fuck once, you get banned for a year and a half, even though it was the biggest high light of the event and earned so much money towards charity.
This guy was a great commentator anytime he was couched or even playing the game itself. Always explained thing's in full detail and I used to watch streams just because he was sat on the couch. awesome guy!

GDQ screwed up by banning guys like this. Nagleria and runners like him gave these streams character by just being a stupid and fun time to watch. GDQ couches now are souless and dead because all GDQ allows them to do is basically talk about the game and that's it.

He was using level select dude. This run isn't even eligible to compete. On the speedrun website, he has 14th place in the glitched category for 14m05s (first place is a little under 11 minutes). That submission was 5 years ago (2012). This is just a casual speedrun for him. If he was actually going for WR he'd probably just reset the game after every death, and restart the timer as well. This is definitely my favorite GDQ run that I've seen to date. So hard to believe they had runs this entertaining at one point. This guy is probably banned from events nowadays due to his minor profanity. Amusing the audience should always come first at events like these, getting WR means nothing if nobody is rooting for you.
There's no other way to say it, GDQ isn't cozy anymore. That doesn't mean there are no good runs, in fact the Resi 7 run was quite good, but it featured explicit content, which means like the Jak and Dexter run he probably won't come back. It used to be a room of passionate people, now it's a crowd watching a sitcom so they have to market it. I just don't understand why they can't have an "Adult Swim" block of the GDQs, or at least make the room a little less coliseum like.
I miss when GDQs were like this. Just a little room, filled with a bunch of guys hanging out. It felt more personal, like everyone was just having fun.
Between this and bonesaws jak and daxter run, it's how I show people how fun speed running can be. I love the money they raise for charity but there's nothing fun about watching a misery arse with a face like a battered haddock! Bring back the swear jar
You just missed the biggest fundraising event for Doctors without brothers, I mean borders. SGDQ 2017 And if you enjoyed this run, maybe think about donating next year a few bucks to the doctors, during the event. Or maybe right now.
This is one of the most entertaining runs I've ever seen. Also, it's one of the first runs I've ever seen. The memory of it has stayed with me quite vividly since the last time I saw it several years ago.

How? He's one of the most annoying people ever in this setting I'm so glad he doesn't go to these events anymore or if he does he must have learned to stop that stupid damn laugh and how to not talk over people even when he's not on the couch. And the fact he used to run Ecco and was just straight up terrible at it and never even finished the run I watched and he wasn't even that close. I'm sure he's a lovely guy in person and really easy to get along with but in this setting when you wanna listen to the runner his laugh just gets too much.
I don't know him at all, this is the first time I've seen it, and I'm not gonna hate on him as a person or runner, but that laugh is quite ... distracting.

I remember watching this run back in the day, absolutely amazing, couldn't stop laughing. ALL ABOUT IMPROVISING. IMPROV, THE SHOW MUST GO ON! FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT, NOT RULES!
This is THE GDQ run, there are other good ones from this era but for me this has everything that used to be good about GDQ's. It might not be the flashiest, or the most well executed, but the runner is having fun, the crowd are having fun and most importantly the viewer is having fun. Naegleria is putting on a show, not afraid of looking bad in the pursuit of showing off cool tricks, who wants to watch a silent drone methodically beat a game with a dead audience when you have this... this was worth the donations... nowadays GDQ isnt even worth the time you spend watching it
