Nahal Oz base: A story of abandoned female IDF soldiers 

Those girls should have been armed and trained to protect themselves. The IDF really dropped the ball on this one. Please dont leave these young women so vulnerable ever again.

Why were these female soldier's placed on the border without weapons or battle training? Why were they responsible for warning superiors when none would listen? I’m glad these parents have courage to fight for them. …so sad for these parents.

I pray for the safe return of the captured Israelis. My heart breaks for this situation.

This story has enraged me since last year, when I first learned about it. Imagine if the border activity was investigated and the border fortified appropriately. The killers could not have crossed over the way they did. They didn't even have appropriate security for the base! Who does that?

This is so bizarre. How absolutely shameful of the leadership of this army.

These watchwomen on the wall did their jobs with professionalism and an inner strength beyond their years. May G-d comfort their families, and may their memory be ever for a blessing.

They were brutally terrorized and murdered.

Even after receiving the intel of the attack, it took the IDF more than 6 hours to respond; More than 6 hours to arrive, in a country with such a small land mass! It must be very difficult for the parents of these girls...

May Hashem get justice for these women

6 hours to reach the base? Where was the rescue team? 6 hours??? Why wasn’t even 1 attack helicopter sent? It would have taken 15 minutes to get one there. This is disturbing.

I lived in the Kibbutz Nachal Oz right across the road for years. This base should have had a battalion of heavy infantry and a battery of 155's, manned heavy machine guns and no women. The women could have been based anywhere as they were monitoring electronics. The IDF command showed incompetence on this front for years - Really sad this happened as it was so unnecessary. It was not a NATO standard base - looked more like a Bedu camp with concrete barriers. No real defense, little discipline....my criticism was not well taken so I stopped commenting. surreal !!! One regiment on that border properly em-placed and the 1200 Jews killed last year would be alive to day - I would have expected resignations. That's just a couple thousand regular army infantry and 15 guns. A fire base near Tel Gemma could have covered the entire front and with 2 battalions would have been impenetrable.

Terrible set of circumstances - the wolves were at the door and nobody was listening!!

Your feelings are valid but don't let it divide your country. You need to unite in this very critical moments.

Those IDF command who are responsible for station will be held accountable for their death, if things weren’t strange why would IDF post young girls and women at the border so close to threat why not men ?

How come soldiers were deployed without arms in most vulnerable border..that was indeed IDF failure...RIP to those who soldiers killed on that day.

I have severe anxiety and they made them worse but I kept watching because I love the Jewish people and just was in shock from what I saw. It was awful so heart wrenching. Then for a month or two made sure the curtauns in our home were shut and all doors locked. I waa so scared that I would wakeup to find my Down syndrome son hurt. I couldnt close my eyes at night. Im better now but not able to sleep at normal hour. Most everyday I go to Telegram to read the latest updates on the war and have seen many things. One thing Ive seen is the Israeli 🇮🇱 military (all branches) are the strongest military in the world. I care so much. Im worried about today. I pray only good things happen today a year later. I saw viral video clips of girl soldiers carrying rifles on the streets. It's so strange to see these young girls unarmed and facing a brutal terrorist group.

It is simple, the high ranked command whitin the IDF have left progressive perspective. They truly believed Hamas won't attack because it gets money. He knows what the IDF is capable of. And the system got use to a small war every 2 or 3 years.

The IDF person in charge of all this was already removed from his position. But the Knesset should take responsibility for this failure. Although, at the moment, we can’t deal with this tragedy formally due to the war.

How does a 19 year old become a soldier to go to war! They are still babies!

If that's true, that is sad. But now, Hezbollah and Hamaz are being blown into pieces left and right. Also, this might be a good example that women should not be soldiers? Unless they prove themselves combat worthy. I'm a female and as much as I wish I'm strong enough to fight, I know I am not and would rather help my country another way.
