I appricuate the fact that they brought a person with similiar experience. It's true that a shrinks are supposed to help. But sometimes, you just need someone to talk to who doesn't know how your head works, but understands it twice as deeply.

Too many people with diabetes have lost their foot from minor blisters and nail stick. This is a very life threatening disease. At first I thought that was going to be the case here that he was going to lose his foot. When wounded infection runs fast until it reaches the bone then amputation. But once blood sugar is controlled proper wound healing may take effect curbing this burdening problem among diabetics. Overall, if you are diabetic or have a loved one that is please make sure and educate yourself; you can save a limb or better yet your life.

My dad has severe diabetes. He is actually in hospital because he had gangrene in his foot from a split on his heel. He now has two abscesses on his foot with VAC dressings on. Even though he has had all the education there is too have he doesn't want to change. He will lose his foot one day. Sometimes people don't want to listen.

A lot of them ignore the advise and when it is too late they breakdown and cry. It is very heart breaking to see them in that state, but they need some intervention for them to learn even from those who went through the process of losing a limb to do so. Hope your dad gets the message and he save himself the pain both physical and mental.

It kinda bugs me that they didn't specify weather it was type one or type two diabetes, clealy in this particular occasion he is a type two but I would have thought on a show like this they would have still good tho!!!!

type 1 is genetic. type 2 a person develops it over time due to unhealthy lifestyles.

No he's a type 1, remember he said that he's healthy and doesent drink the drinks that he makes at the bar in hawaii, even the doctor brought up it was genetics and also in type 1 you would'nt feel your feet because the blood glucose is extremely high.

The only person who was diagnosed with Diabetes and leaves with a smile. Just because he had no idea how difficult it would really be. I mean Diabetes runs in my family too, I left the hospital crying because I knew how hard the way would be for me, insulin shots, strict diet, all that and four years later I came back to the hospital for a cetoacedosis, I Had a neuropathy in both my legs, still I can't get control of my glucemy... I'm gonna die, but people think just because it's not cancer or a tumor is just another common disease.
