@@peep9636 I watch pros playing Robin as much as I can, and watching Jul recently, I caught myself thinking that maybe the way he plays Robin is just not... optimal. Don't get me wrong, Jul is amazing, his movement and item game are exceptional, but at the end of the day, he feels pretty content on waiting for his opponent to approach. And you'd think that this is the way Robin is supposed to be played, with all the projectiles they have, but in the video above you can see how aggressive Nairo is. He doesn't stand there zoning out his opponent with Thunder, he goes in and actively tries to establish the advantage stage that Robin is so good at. I just feel that people get too caught up in the fact that Robin has a lot of projectiles. I believe that if you play them too campy, you'll either get overwhelmed by a rushdown character or, ironically, by another campy character. And I think that Nairo understands that too, which is really indicative of his skill.

@@snagger28 Pretty sure it heals based on the % diffference between Robin and his target. When I'm over 100% and use it on someone at low% I've healed over 20%.

@@Blittsplitt5 If you watch Leon much, you may notice that his parry, whiff punish, and read game are usually top notch. I don't think he parried against that Robin once. I'd say he was struggling with the matchup at least some.

Agreed. She’s more of a resource management character. Having very good tools but you need to be strategic as to when and how to use them.

At the first moment I played Robin I instantly started loving her Ultimate is my first smash ever and I got Robin at 4.9 Million gsp (is that good?) with only 2 hours of play time with her. For comparison, I got 13 hours with cloud and only got him at 2.9 million

Its not that other characters dont succeed against heavies, it's that robin is especially successful. Robin's combination of oppressive projectiles and large hit boxes make it extremely challenging for heavies, in particular, to avoid or land. Furthermore, all of Robin's craziest arcfire combos that do insane damage work on heavies. Not all characters have a combo that does 50% damage and can kill at 60 (ex. Double arcfire into charged upsmash).

Lin Bin zoners are the best tho because they don’t have to risk getting hit to do damage

Nairo once said on stream that he really missed the guaranteed UpThrow into UpAir. That's definitely probably not the biggest reason, but still a reason that I have heard from him.

@@geekmac9349 Ganondorf is much slower and more exploitable than Bowser anyways, and probably loses the most matchups in the game (next to Little Mac) Also Ultimate Bowser doesn't need an upthrow -> upair to terrorize opponents

Honestly I'm not sure if an up smash would've killed there, and he probably just wanted the safe play, bowser would never have been able to land an aerial in this play, but he definitely could have punished if Nairo was off on his timing with an up smash

Delzethin He uses levin nairs all the time with robin, he just didnt use them in this set. And i agree with the up smash punish, but its also a bigger commitment at times as well, one wrong timed smash and leon will make you pay for it. I think as far as the nairs, with bowser he struggles more with the projectiles and arc fire, so he relied more on those, and grab mixups to get his openings. bowser cant land so up air / fair was always the choice for punishes or juggling, vs the horizontal angle for nair.

Frankie Jimenez nah he loses practically every time he counter picks Battlefield. BF’s platform set up is just too tight for Bowser and the blast zones are so big that you don’t even get anything out of a top plat side-B. He consistently does better on PS2. Yoshi’s story is a way better tri-plat set up than BF but Nairo probably banned it.

Bowser loves tri plat stages because his up tilt is really good at covering the platforms, the tri plat allows his side b to kill earlier, platforms gives Bowser more landing options which he really needs as a big body char, also people always shield on platforms since there's usually nothing people can do about that but Bowser can side b that, the list honestly goes on and on.

But if he counterpicks bf every time than of course he loses every time he counterpicks battlefield...

@@YourFriendlyGymRat It ties in with Mains. It is very common for most Smash players to have 1 character they focus on and always play. They keep any alternative characters they play "in the pocket" for special match-ups, for fun, or to counter-pick. Writing this out, I feel kind of silly >.> maybe there's more context I'm not aware of? The term just sort of makes sense to me but hopefully that explains the gist.

Ray Zin bowser has an ability called tough guy. It makes him unflinching to weak attacks which is normally why bowser can live to 200%

Arcfire is the big one, I think. You hit Bowser's shield with it and he's basically stuck. Grab fodder, really. You put it on the ledge when Bowser is recovering and he has no choice but to eat it and their follow up of choice or roll and almost certainly get punished from there anyway. And that starts racking up pretty fast... Efforts to get in on Robin get a lot more linear, as the frontal approach usually just results in eating another Arcfire + follow up. So what do you do then? Jump in? Roll in? Try to stall out Arcfire uses? Frankly, I don't really know... Then again, G&W couldn't bail LeoN out, either. It's clearly not just a matter of matchups.

@@davidhayman4441 In his case I've got the feeling that he just saw Kameme taking him out at EVO an thought he could pull off the same, except that his Megaman is faaaar behind Kameme's for he hadn't played it at high level for a long time, I mean he got 3-0'd. Also his playstyle and Kameme's are quite different. But yeah that's the spirit I guess.

GOG ALMIGHTY What are you asking exactly? A JV is when the Killer wins the game with the current stock damage being at 0%. If Robin has 1 stock left and is at 0% Damage when Robin kills off Bowser's last stock then we would define that victory as a "JV 2 Stock". (For Robin.)

Wolf O'Tsundere Baka PLAYZ Pg3d , Roblox and more Hightier characters still have negative matchups. The "High" tier only signifies that the character has an advantage against a majority of the cast. It is possible that one of their negative matchups could be against a perceived low tier.
