1. Manyara -Dodoma route is less inhabited, hence fewer social services along the road, so make sure you have all the supplies you need before starting your journey 2. Your Google search experience is on point, you managed to get many facts right and pronounced most names perfectly 3. The move to Dodoma is just recent, though the parliament was always in Dodoma, however, the bigger and better side of Dodoma city was on your left hand side, you navigated the older side of the city. Dodoma is the driest region in Tanzania , but it rains every season and they manage to produce good amount of food. They are the main produces of grapes 🍇 and large quantities of wine. 4. Mtera is not a reservoir, it is a river where large amount of electricity is produced, reason why the place is highly guarded. Those fish are from that river which collects it's water from as far as Mbeya region. 5. You missed an amazing forest plantations from Iringa just before Makambako, that was something should try to see on your way back, I really wish you see it, don't miss!. Also, take the Mbeya- Dar route, it's longer but can offer to you an amazing mountain ranges, you will be surprised honestly!, it's my favorite road route to be honest. 6. While in southern part of Tanzania particularly Iringa, Njombe and Mbeya, try not to eat something too hot during winter season, that whole region is notoriously cold, sometimes some snow fall especially at night, you might not realize how hot the food is until it is too late. Luckily you travelled during the midst of hot season in Tanzania. 7. In tz, beans and vegetables is provided for free in restaurants as an addition to what you have ordered, feel free to ask for when you order your food. Unless you buy to mama ntilie, those food sold at much cheaper price along the streets, they may not include it. You are right about Mbeya city, it occupies a very large area, highly populated but architect and the like is very poor. But food is the cheapest in Mbeyq region than anywhere in tz. Mbeya region alone is the main producer of various seasonal crops. Together with other 4 neighboring regions they form the so called "The Big 5", meaning the 5 regions in tz that literally feed the country and beyond.

@mariej6962 you are wrong on your number 4 of your comment.Mtera is not a river but is an hydro electric power generation station which is located on the border of Dodoma and Iringa regions. The power plant and its facilities is on the Dodoma side while the reservour is on the Iringa side. The reservour weir is exactly below the bridge deck spanning above The Great Ruaha River. In fact the Great North Road which originates from Capetown and ends in Cairo crosses The Great Ruaha River at the Mtera weir.

In the back, on the right, she stands with pride, Eloquent and updated, Dodoma her guide. With words, she unfolds the terrain so wide, A poetess of Tanzania, where hills and heat coincide. The terrain, a canvas of nature's own art, She articulates it with a genuine heart. Dodoma's hills, where stories impart, In her verses, the landscape plays its part. The sun's heated touch, in her tales, alive, Dodoma's warmth, through her words, does thrive. Amidst the heat, where stories contrive, She narrates with passion, making memories survive. Architectures standing with a timeless grace, She paints them vividly in the poetic space. Dodoma's structures find in her verse a place, An ode to the buildings, each a unique case. To the girl on back right, with wisdom and might, Dodoma's chronicler, in words so bright. In her eloquence, Tanzania takes flight, A storyteller weaving the hills, heat, and architectural light.

+37:35 The houses are constructed using fired clay bricks, which apart from being aesthetically pleasing actually is one of the strongest and longest lasting building materials still used. That is also where they get that earthy redish/brown color from, apart from obviously also getting covered by dust/soil. In many regions of Tanzania there remains a strong building tradition using these fired bricks for housing construction and thus the practice is not at all related to any assumed nomadic traditions.. Keep up your lovely trip reports we enjoy them a lot! //Ahsanteni Sana!!

I was born in Mbeya and grew up there, in 90s and early 2000s it was still a small town. When it started growing the authority didn't have a city master plan so they let people build houses in whichever way they wanted. Now the city is over congested and unplanned. Population is increasing rapidly with no place to build a school or health center. No place to breathe 😂😂 Maybe the 30km dual carriageway and a bypass for trucks expected to complete by 2025 will reduce the chaos. But for mbeya to be organized a lot of houses need to be demolished. Naipenda mbeya kuliko sehemu yoyote Tz.

Dar es Salaam WAS the capital city of Tanzania upto 1996 when it was moved to Dodoma. Dar is at the extreme Eastern end of Tz and it was far from most of the country. Dodoma was announced the Capital city of Tanzania since Mwalimu Nyarere regime! Ever since the implementation was being done step by step including .... 1. To make sure the infrastructure particularly roads are well grounded to make sure Dodoma is reachable from every angle of Tanzania. This was much highlighted during President Jakaya Kikwete regime when Magufuli was the minister responsible for infrastructure 2. As Dodoma is dry, so the government needed to ascertain there is enough water to serve the population before all the government activities moved to Dodoma (Which was also accomplished as now despite the fact that Dodoma is dry, the City has enough water supply to serve the population) .... those are some of the reasons as from what I know

Hi,Dodoma is the right place for a city. Not congested or crazy like Kampala or Nairobi..A good example is like Canada, Ottawa is the major city but it's the most boring and least developed like other cities i.e Toronto, Vancouver etc.Same also applies to America, capital is Washington DC,it's slow compared to new York or L.A.And Abuja compared to the crazy Lagos...I believe capital cities should like Dodoma

I love this road trip series. My dream is to one day do a trip from Kenya to Namibia by road. N/B: From my research Namibia is so vast and isolated so shida ya fuel inaweza kua noma. Get enough fuel when you reach there coz you'll be travelling many kilometres isolated in the desert wilderness. Enjoy the adventure and safe journey to South Africa.

Semi-arid and arid climates make for the sweetest watermelon due to the intense heat. Best Kenyan watermelon I've tasted are from Turkana, Isiolo, Marsabit, Wajir, Garisa and Mandera counties.
