Emcee Jim Compton (Anishinaabe), Cathy Merrick (Cree), Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and Youth Coordinator Hevyn-Lee Martens from Treaty One Nations Inc., welcomed attendees to Winnipeg. Entertainment was provided by the Norman Chief Memorial Dancers. NAJA President Graham Lee Brewer addressed members and attendees and author Duncan McCue delivered the keynote address.
